Why the hell did Square forgot the main theme of Final Fantasy

Recommended Posts

I mean seriously, almostevery single modern main entry in the FF series(except for XIV maybe) since XIII totally forgot the main theme

I just don't know why??Couldn't they remix it for XIII,XIII-2??

Aside from Dissidia,Theatrhythm and rereleases, the main theme was completely forgotten in recent entries

This is like playing Zelda without the glorious Hyrule Field theme that has been remixed and rearranged in every single Zelda game but it's still there,or like playing a Mario game without Mario's theme,or heck playing a Pokemon game without the awesome track that plays on every main Pokemon entry's title screen.

I know I'm so nitpicking at this point, but at least I want the small touches that made Final Fantasy into Final Fantasy to be at least there if everything else doesn't feel like Final Fantasy.

Please tell me that LRFFXIII has the main Final Fantasy theme because I'm so sick of Leona LewisJ-Pop songs of XIIIXIII-2 replacing it during the endings

That's the prelude

I meant the theme that was literally named "Final Fantasy" since the days of FF1

But I agree here, the prelude also got forgotten

Ah. I dunno. I haven't even heard that theme since FFIV, tbh. I don't think it's been in any of the games since then.

That must have been why I never felt like I wasn't playing a Final Fantasy game while playing XIII/XIII-2. I never noticed until you brought it up, but they even took out the memorable theme of the series.

It's been in every game and rarely a game missed it

1,2,3,4,5,6,7,9,10,11,12 all has that theme

only few games like 8,10-2 and XIII were missing it back then but now unless it's a rerelease of an old game

every modern game in the series misses the prelude and the main theme.....why?

Again,it's like a main Pokemon game without the main theme from the title screen,Zelda without the Hyrule Field theme or any of it's remixes,or a Mario game without the main Mario theme

Are you sure? Because I've been looking at all the soundtracks and I haven't heard that specific theme in any of them since V, now. (Just verified) Maybe it goes under another name in the other soundtracks, I don't know. I don't remember ever hearing it in, say, 7. I think they kind of abandoned it after the fifth or sixth game, which makes sense since they were trying to go for a new direction.

In 7 it plays during the credits, and in V and VI it's remixed somewhere in the game which can be also either the credits or the theme that plays during the ending which will change the track's name

They didn't completely abandon the theme back in the 90's but they play in different places than the ones you expect

As for the prelude it plays in every single game in the series except the XIII trilogy and maybe X-2

Even in FF8 it plays at the game over screen and it also plays somewhere in 9 other than the title screen since"A Place to Call Home" was the theme for the title screen

My point is:why abandon musical ques that has been a trademark for the series in the new entries especially the prelude theme???It's not hard at all to include or remix since I've seen a fan-made XIII remix of the prelude as well as the main theme.

And how about the Victory fanfare that every Final Fantasy game had except XIII and XIII-2 that has one of the stupidest and dullest victory theme I've ever had in any RPG

Well, as far as that goes, Square had been talking about how they wanted FFXIII to completely change Final Fantasy. That was their big thing, that FFXIII would change the series. They even partially abandoned turn-based gameplay. It makes sense that they'd strip the music ques so it'd FEEL different. It looks like XV will change even more because now they're COMPLETELY abandoning turn-based.

for your information, 'final fantasy' theme song never been used for ff2, ff10 and ff13, because ff10, the composers is not uematsu-san alone, but with hamauzu-san and nakano-san too, the director want to change the style of ff music, different from uematsu-san style. only ff10 and ff13

the theme exists in other ff games, some of the game did not use the theme as the main theme..something like adding the song as a 'cameo'..

the final fantasy theme on ff9

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QrR0xdWgbPA

besides, the theme of final fantasy is the theme of the original final fantasy, and since then become the overall theme for final fantasy till ff9, not to be mistaken with the theme of each final fantasy games. but different with the 'prelude', all final fantasy game use it accept ffxiii. the theme included in the recent arr: ffxiv (as prelude theme)

it is most likely the final fantasy xv will have new theme song and does not recycled the old ff theme since the composer is our beloved yoko shimomura-san. MAYBE

the only final fantasy song that exists in every final fantasy game is chocobo theme.

updated, sorry for the wrong info earlier

FF12 didn't have turn-based combat and yet IT HAD THE PRELUDE,THE MAIN FINAL FANTASY THEME AND THE VICTORY FANFARE FOR MISSIONS AND CERTAIN BOSS BATTLES

FF Type-0 had the prelude, victory fanfare, and the main theme played somewhere if I'm correct

Well,I was wrong about X and XI but I'm sure as hell that 12 used it

Final Fantasy II, Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy XIII does not include this song. And they do not have to, because while this is a great theme, it doesn't always fit with the game it's in. And when they do, they have to heavily stylize it in order to make it fit.

Final Fantasy is ever evolving and things will always be different, even if there is some similarities from past games or songs are reused for a new game. If you're going to complain about a missing song, you're following the wrong series.

Uematsu himself wanted to try something new for FFX. The song so far has not appeared in FFII, FFX, and FFXIII. Though the Victory theme that is also a predominent theme in the series stopped at XIII.

Why not? It's a small nitpick that you're wasting our time over. Yes, we get it, you're not happy with the way the series has been handled over the past few years and that's fine, you are entitled to it, but please, we don't need to hear about it so much. Some of us actually don't mind the series doing something different, both gameplay and music wise, because that's what the series has always done.

I can say that the music of final fantasy changed over the years because of different directors, composers etc. we can't compare it with zelda because it iscreated by the same person (miyamoto-san) since the first game.

It is just an on going thing. FFXIII wasn't so much as different for me, but crap. I mean look how different XV will be, and I am sure I will love it.
