Taeyeon 1,137 Posted January 13, 2014 Those scores... Gawsh.... Looks like I'll just have to have the game in hands to see if those scores are true or not.

Tails 6,690 Posted January 13, 2014 I don't blame the reviewers at all for giving this game low scores. This game was another downgrade to the XIII saga. From the side quests to the crappy costumes. I really hate tge idea that the side quests are the only wat to gain EXP and level up. It take all the fun away from battling random monsters and feeling rewarded after defeating them. Kaneki Ken 1,516 Posted January 13, 2014 I don't really care for what the reviews say for Lightning Returns. I just want to finish the XIII trilogy, and move on to FFXV or remasters (if they go on sale again in the google play market)

Its not like the game puts complete and utter focus on fanservice like X-2. Maybe you should actually play the game before you judge it. : At least its far more improved than the linearity and spamming of auto battle and lack of freedom that the original XIII had. Also, you can spam chronostasis to freeze time so you can fight as many monsters as you want. It only costs 2 GP, and you can easily regain GP from killing enemies, meaning you can fight as many as you want. Besides, everyone was bitching in XIII that there weren't any fetch quests or good side quests, this game delivers on it. : Besides, its an interesting concept, i think its good. Wooooooooooooooooooooooooow. They actually think its that bad. There's no way LR would be as bad as the original XIII, there's no way Square would screw it up to make it as bad as the original. What's the problem with the costumes? SE put too much focus into the costumes than they did with LR's story. All the trailers for the game always showed off the costumes rather than the plot of the game which is a shame because the trailers for XIII-2 actually got me interested in XIII-2 and seeing what had happened with Lightning and crew after they saved Cocoon (though I was left disappointed). The game feels like complete fanservice just like another FF game I know. And while I do agree the the game has improved the gameplay from XIII and XIII-2, the only thing that turns me off is the fact that battling enemies are pointless because the only way to gain EXP and level up is by doing side quests which are always a chore to do in JRPG's. It's such a stupid machanic in my opinion. Hence why I feel this game didn't improve too much from either XIII or XIII-2. This game is more for fanservice than actually focusing on story. 1 Dio Brando reacted to this

I liked ff13 a lot The paradigms system added strategy to balance out the auto-battle, and it added a lot of new ways to organize a team. The linearity worked well for this game due to it being so story heavy, it didn't need a gigantic overworld to make players get so caught up in either getting lost, or doing side quests and end up in them forgetting the story. What it did worked for this game really well, but that's just me.

Well they couldn't spoil that much in the trailers, since there aren't that many story missions. And yeah, they showed off the costumes too much, but all of that really doesn't matter when you play the actual game. So i return to my earlier point of waiting until you actually play the game before you decide that all it focuses on are the costumes. : So? Who doesn't abuse side quests for their benefit in JRPG's? Not all of them are chores, some sidequests are actually legitimately fun. But, i see your point, i could see why it would upset other people. But i've seen the story, they put alot of effort into it, and its not convoluted as shit like XIII-2 was. Its more like the depthful story XIII had. I liked ff13 a lot The paradigms system added strategy to balance out the auto-battle, and it added a lot of new ways to organize a team. I know it did, but i feel XIII-2 and LR imrpoved on that immensely. But i see your point too, thats one of the reaons i liked XIII also.

atheist123 583 Posted January 13, 2014 Oops,I didn't notice All good. Just thought I'd point out that it was only two negative reviews, since the same reviewer posted on Nova and RPG. I haven't played any FF13 games yet but its interesting to read what people think about the series. I'm still waiting for FF Versus 13, like I have been for the last seven years...
