Shulk 8,623 Posted January 2, 2014 I've got Y version, I'd give it a 9.5/10 or a 10/10. It probably ties with Silver for my favorite Pokemon game. 2 Dio Brando and Oli reacted to this

Jilly Shears 2,144 Posted January 2, 2014 I'm playing through Y right now and I think there's some flaws with it like having some really wonky pacing and story progression, but so far I'm really enjoying it. Not as much as the Gen 5 games, but it's definitely a solid 8 or so so far.
Master Keeper 687 Posted January 2, 2014 9.5 I really understand how cool it is and how big improvement it was. But come on catching the Legendary Pokemon with a poke ball from the second throw?! That's why a half was taken, because the game is easy and short.
Zoro317 111 Posted January 2, 2014 9.0/10. Best Pokemon game since the earlier generations, in my opinion. I was one of the few who was actually disappointed with B/W, so I wasn't sure I'd ever enjoy the series again. I was profoundly mistaken  I own Y. I think I might give X a try soon. WonderHeroe 32 Posted January 2, 2014 (edited) I have Pokemon Y, I really loved playing it Gameplay, battles, and artwork were amazing! The music, story and characters were mediocre at best. D: Which was both surprising and disappointing to me. I mean, those were the main highlights of the BW series, right? (or is just me?) I guess because they didn't tell much of the story before it came out that I assumed that they wanted it to be a surprise-- and being me I thought it was going to be epic. But alas, the story was really short- right? Plus the characters... ehh, I didn't really feel attached to them. Shauna and Serena were the only ones I somewhat liked, but not how I felt with Green, Barry, Bel, and Cheren. To me they actually felt like rivals/friends. But these guys felt like.. acquaintances..? Is it just me or did how your Player and them became friends was lazy as crap? ) It felt that way to me anyways, and to be honest it didn't really grab my attention. (Excluding AZ of course ) The music was pretty good (especially the credits theme!) but I still prefer BW's to XY's. But besides that the game totally owns BW in the battling, training, leveling, pretty much everything else! That's why I really love XY; there's SOOOO many (improved) features in this game that the others didn't have. So, I'll give it a.... *taps chin* ...7.9/10. Make the characters more interesting then we'd have a winner! Edited January 2, 2014 by WonderHeroe 1 Arylett Dawnsborough reacted to this
Lu Xun 2,069 Posted January 2, 2014 Well, I have pokemom x and really love it, the story is nice and everything else is actually nice, too. But it's just too short and easy, there's no challenge at all... That's why I give it 8.3/

Make the characters more interesting then we'd have a winner! My thoughts exactly! I was expecting this epic story the likes of BW and it was rather disappointing to see that nothing really stood out to me. They had a lot of good ideas but the pacing was seriously rushed and they didn't seem to give themselves the time to expand upon them. Also completely agree about the rival characters. I was a huge fan of Cheren and Bianca, (especially Bianca), those two stood out to me quite a bit. But these rivals? They didn't really... do anything at all. Plus, their designs irritated me. Very stock personalities, just bland. Also, I found N to be a very interesting part of BW. Was sad that Team Flare didn't have anyone particularly interesting in that vein. The battles though were very improved (level grinding is not a even a grind anymore), graphics impressive, and Wi-Fi awesome. (Still wish they'd bring back setting everything to Lvl 100 though. I prefer that to Lvl 50 flat. @_@) Pokemon Amie and Super Training provide welcome and fun distractions. (Though I do wish they'd just tie Amie into the Happiness system. It seems weird there's TWO systems for mapping out a Pokemon's affection towards you.) Gameplay was solid and improved, but I will have to say that I'm disappointed that they changed the leveling back to pre-Gen V. In Gen V, Pokemon leveled up faster if they fought Pokemon of higher levels. They completely reverted back to the old system here and it was irritating to me. It made it so that if you didn't use the Exp Share, you were WAY underleveled and super weak. But if you did? The entire game becomes an easy snoozefest where everything faints by you just sneezing at it. It's either too difficult or too easy, no difficulty balance inbetween. That's what kind of ruined the epicness of the game for me. For all my criticisms though, X & Y are still very solid entries. Their Pokemon designs really show quality over quantity, because there's very few of them that I actually dislike. (Especially since they introduced my favorite Pokemon of all time - Braixen.) I'd rate it at around 7.5/10, taking off a few more points for all the flaws. If you combined Pokemon X/Y with BW, you'd have the perfect Pokemon game. Share system. -3- At first, through the first third of the game, I thought that was really nifty and really helped out equally leveling your team (Though personally I prefer to have my favorite three stronger than the rest ). But then not even halfway through it I realized that I'm pretty much 1HKO-ing everyone! It was so easy, and there were so many Trainers that I actually felt more irritated than usual going through a route. Post XY, you hated Trainers because they get harder the further you go (and usually some of your team members fainted) making your journey more difficult. In XY, well you might as well consider yourself a Kirito (SAO). N00batr0n$ everywhere, and just getting in your way. When I think on even more, all the gym leaders weren't even challenging-- or rather, it felt like battling a Trainer on Victory Road. Which is rather sad, really. I defeated all of them (Elite Four included) on my first try. ;3; For once I wanted to fight an annoying Leader that gives you too much trouble (D**n you Elesaaa!). Though I was surprised that the Amie didn't boost Happiness, but if you do give them five full hearts they do even better in battle, so that's a plus. And Super Training is meant as a big improvement/replacement for EV training so now would be the best time to get into that if you were interested. I'm not bashing X/Y though, I really did enjoy it. I just can't help but compare it to BW in certain (a lot of) aspects. Just the whole 3D modeling was a huge plus. I believe now that they put so much into the 3D modeling and online features (that are FREAKIN' awesome btw!) that they didn't really put as much effort into anything else; being the characters, and story. So I'd have to go with your rating too, just from remembering my experiences. Great game, and really fun, but lazy in story/characterization. 1 Arylett Dawnsborough reacted to this
