Welcome viewers, to one of the greatest competitions to ever grace, television! In mere minutes, several competitors will enter into the virtual world of "The Fun Box"! There, they will face various challenges, sometimes alongside each other, and other times against each other, for their own survival! Of course, they won't actually die, it's not like we're monsters after all. They will simply wake up if they die in the virtual world, although everything will seem completely real to them, pain included. The last one to survive will be proclaimed the champion, and will win a small fortune. Each competitor will have their own unique personality and motivations to win, which will surely make for an interesting competition.

 

Oh, and that's not even the best part! The best part is, they will be compeating using characters from movies, other television shows, video games, and comic books! Ever wonder what it would be like to actually become and fight as a fictional characters? Well, these lucky souls are about to find out. So stay tuned for competition like you've never seen before!

Hey guys, it's been a while since I've been in an RP, so I'm particularly excited for this one! If you're interested in the synopsis above, please read on, I'd love to have plenty of characters in this RP.

 

 Rules

General Rules and Guidelines

 

Standard KH13 role playing rules apply

 

Due to the nature of this RP, signups will close once the RP begins. Because of this, I plan on starting the RP ten days from when I  started this topic (January 8, 2014), giving you all plenty of time to sign up.

 

Feel free to have your characters interact with each other, but make sure to interact with others too, even those you don't know. After all, nobody likes to be left alone in an RP.

 

This RP will primarily focus on your character(s) going through various challenges, sometimes with each other, and sometimes against each other, in order to achieve victory. This RP is not about developing on your characters back-story, although that may be done in moderation.

 

Try to stay in this RP, but if you must leave, let me know, either by posting so on this thread, or by private messaging me. Don't just mysteriously stop posting.

 

Put "Applesauce" at the bottom of your signup sheet to show that you've read the rules. Why applesauce? Because I said so, that's why.

 

Don't be afraid to make your character(s) do things unexpected or random, as long as they don't act out of character. It makes the RP much more interesting.

 

I've noticed that RP's often die because of problems with the rules and mechanics. If you have any ideas on how to improve this RP at any time, please PM me about them.

 

Character Rules and Guidelines

 

Due to characters frequently being eliminated throughout the course of this RP, everyone is required to have at least two characters, although even more is greatly appreciated. You can have as many characters as you want, but they must all be signed in before the RP starts.

 

Each character will compete using an avatar of a fictional character from either a movie, television show, video game, or comic book. 

 

They will experience everything as if they are in reality.

 

At the beginning of this RP, the characters will be separated into two teams, heroes and villains. Remember, whether a character is a hero or villain is based on their avatar, not that character's personality or motives.

 

In this contest, competitors don't know what everyone else's names or appearances are, just that of their avatars. For example, someone who uses the Sora avatar is simply called Sora, not their real name. This is in order to keep things fairly simple.

 

Make sure to increase or decrease your characters powers and abilities in order to keep things balanced. Feel free to use my characters as an example. If I feel that your character is overpowered or underpowered, I'll ask you to change it.

 

This RP takes place in a reality competition, so like in many reality competitions, none of the competitors know each other, in order to make things fair.

 

Character Death Rules

 

One of the features that makes this RP different from most is that your characters can be killed without your permission. This keeps things competitive and unpredictable. Of course, this can also make things unfair and aggravating, which is why I've developed these rules to keep things fun.

 

Characters may only harm each other if the host of the reality contest (me) says so. Doing otherwise will either penalize or disqualify the contestant.

 

If you plan on having one of your characters eliminate another character made by another character, PM me first, and only attempt to take the character out if I say it's okay. This request can be made at any time, but may only be allowed to happen when eliminating other competitors is permitted. Each person may only have my permission to go after two characters at any given time, but don't need my permission to eliminate any of their own characters.

 

Each person is allowed to have one of their characters "protected" at any given time, as long as they have more than one character left, and before I get rid of protecting near the end of the RP. All you have to do to protect a character is PM me saying that you want a certain character protected. This means that they can't be eliminated by myself or any other person. You may request for another of your characters to be protected instead whenever you want.

 

When trying to take out another character, don't just have your character appear out of nowhere and take them out. Make sure they have a chance to fight back and escape, that way things stay fair. If I believe the way they died doesn't seem fair, the death doesn't count, any your character may be penalized or even disqualified.

 

Signup Sheet

All right, I know that's a lot of rules, but they're there because I've never seen an RP like this happen before, and I want to make sure everyone knows how this RP is to be played. And now, what you've all been waiting for, the signup sheet.

 

Avatar Name: Remember, this is the name of the avatar that the competitor will be using, not their real name.

Gender: Is the competitor male of female? In order to make things simpler, male competitors must have a male avatar, and female competitors must have a female avatar.

Avatar Appearance: The appearance of your character's avatar. Images are best, but descriptions are acepted.

Avatar Origin: What is the avatar from?

Contestant Age: How old is the competitor? Must be 16-90 years old. Remember, this can be completely different than the age of the avatar they play as.

Motivation: Why is the competitor competing in the first place? For the money? For the glory? Something else entirely?

Reason for Choosing Avatar: Why did the competitor choose the fictional character they did to play as?

Weapons and Abilities: What are the weapons and abilities of the competitors avatar? You may alter this from the cannon character only for the sake of balancing them so that they're not too powerful or too weak.

Weakness: This can be physical, such as being slow, or physiological, such as over cautiousness.

Team: Is the avatar a hero or villain? Remember, these teams are only temporary.

 

 My Characters

I've created six characters for myself in order to help keep things at a fast and fun pace. Don't worry though, I don't plan on having any of my characters win. That's an honor I'm saving for one of you.

Gender: Male

Avatar Origin: X-Men Comics

Contestant Age: 21

Motivation: He wants to win for the money, and to help him pick up chicks.

Reason for Choosing Avatar: He wanted to play as someone who he thought was as cool as himself.

Weapons and Abilities: A bow staff and the ability to turn small inanimate objects, such as the playing cards in his pockets, into small explosives.

Weakness: His overconfidence and recklessness often causes him to often charge into situations that he may not be able to handle.

Team: Hero

 

Avatar Name: Beatrix

Gender: Female

Avatar Appearance:

 

Avatar Origin: Final Fantasy IX

Competitor Age: 16

Motivation: Ever since she was little, bullies would always pick on her for her weight and reclusive nature.  She wants to prove to them, and to herself, that she can be successful if she put her mind to something.

Reason for Choosing Avatar: She always admired Beatrix for her looks, power, and character, and wants others to think of her the same way.

Weapons and Abilities: The magic sword "Save the Queen", which allows her to fire electricity and blasts of light from her sword.

Weakness: Her insecurity causes her to often doubt her own decisions, and that other people would want to ally themselves with her.

Team: Hero

Avatar Origin: The Lord of the Rings movies

Competitor Age: 30

Motivation: After he lost his arm in the military, he had trouble finding work. He hopes that winning this competition will allow him to never worry about money again.

Reason for Choosing Avatar: He used to be a soldier in the Army, but lost his left arm in combat. While recovering, he would often watch movies, including the Lord of the Rings Trilogy, which was his favorite. Gimli, with his toughness and humor, became his favorite character.

Weapons and Abilities: A two-handed ax and two smaller throwing axes, which reappear at his sides after a short period of time.

Weakness: He sometimes gets powerful migraines, or muscle spasms in his left arm, even in dire situations.

Team: Hero

 

Avatar Name: Xigbar

Gender: Male

Avatar Appearance:

 

Avatar Origin: Kingdom Hearts II

Competitor Age: 19

Motivation: He wants to win the money, of course, but he also wants to show others that he's more than just a quiet, JRPG loving nerd.

Reason for Choosing Avatar: Ever since he was little, he loved playing video games. His favorite game franchise is Kingdom Hearts, and his favorite Kingdom Hearts character is Xigbar, due to his cool appearance, impressive moves, and entertaining personality.

Weapons and Abilities: Twin arrowguns and the ability to teleport short distances.

Weakness: He's often suspicious of others, and a paranoid while competing. This causes him to sometimes make unwise strategic moves.

Team: Villain

 

Avatar Name: Maleficent

Gender: Female

Avatar Appearance:

 

Avatar Origin: Disney's Sleeping Beauty

Competitor Age: 41

Motivation: After her husband died, she struggled to provide for her four kids, all of which are too young to get jobs. Thus, she hopes she can provide for them better by winning the competition.

Reason for Choosing Avatar: She doesn't want people to think of her as weak and vulnerable, so she decided to choose a villainous and powerful character. She's a big fan of Disney movies, and she remembers Maleficent scaring her as a little girl. Thus, she thinks Maleficent is the perfect choice.

Weapons and Abilities: A magical staff, teleportation, and control over green fire.

Weakness: To balance out her incredible magical power, she's more vulnerable to attacks than her fellow competitors.

Team: Villain

Avatar Name: Darth Vader

 

Gender: Male

Avatar Appearance:

 

Avatar Origin: Star Wars

Contestant Age: 72

Motivation: To provide a comfortable retirement for him, and a substantial inheritance for his children and grandchildren.

 Reason for Choosing Avatar: Back when he was a younger man, he used to be a part of the film crew for the first three Star Wars movies. Darth Vader was always a personal favorite character of his.

Weapons and Abilities: A red lightsaber (not as powerful as the one in the movies, but still a lethal weapon) and moderate use of the force (can't force choke or lift super heavy objects)

Weakness: Low physical endurance. He will tire from things such as fighting and running faster than most, if not all, of his other competitors.

Team: Villain

Reason for Choosing Avatar: He sees Dean as the embodiment of heroics. He is strong, has a good moral compass, and is still an average, scared guy under all of it. 

Weapons and Abilities: A demon-killing knife and rudimentary knowledge of spells 

Weakness: He would die to protect someone he cares about, and sometimes forgets to pay attention to himself. 

Team: Hero

Weakness: Their body structure is weak. Although they are 19, they derive from one person, so they are like one person that can use shadow clone jutsu. The minor ones are weak, and can be easily killed by a good sword strike.

That is her primary reason for participating, but she's also worried about her family's financial state, and winning would assure that they never had to worry about having enough food ever again. 

Reason for Choosing Avatar: During lunch, since she didn't have any friends to sit with, she'd watch anime on the school computers. She adored Madoka, who was around her age, and could be a hero even when she was terrified. Trying to be like Madoka motivated her to get through tough days.

Weapons and Abilities: A bow and arrows 

Weakness: Fear--she's terrified of being killed, or even injured.

Team: Hero

I think you misunderstand. These aren't the real characters. They've just regular people who are controlling the avatars of characters from movies, TV, video games, and comic books. They have the same appearance, weapons, and powers, and use the same names, but their personality's and motives can be completely different. Also, the teams are based on whether the avatar the competitor plays as is good or evil, but the competitor can be good or bad, no matter what team they're on. Does that make sense?

The idea is to create as many characters as you can handle, that way when one dies, you'll still have more left. But don't worry, I plan on everyone having at least one character left near the end of the RP. Of course, having multiple characters will likely make the RP more fun and unpredictable.
