KH3D Time Travel...?

Recommended Posts

Okay so i consider myself a big fan o the KH series, ive played all the games and think i understand pretty much everything.

Everything EXCEPT time travel.

I played through KH3D once so maybe i should play it again, but i can't wrap my head around what exactly YMX is doing and what unfolds towards the end of the game. I know he was collecting versions of himself and i now understand the true goals of Org. 13, but most of this concept doesn't make sense to me.

Can someone explain it to me?

MX decided to use TT as a back up plan to his back up plan when he discovered he could time travel as a heartless who shed his body . As Ansem SoD he TT to when he was a kid still at DI and transferred his powers to YMX so he wouldn't have to shed his body then gave him the job to collect all his selves in the future when the time come.

This is a fixed time loop bc he now has it to where this has always happened so therefore it can't be altered or stopped now bc YMX will now always eventually become Ansem SoD ( through AX) who will give him his future plan and TT powers.

AHHH this makes sense! thankyou for clearing that up, i did not realize that he transfered the power to YMX at destiny islands while he was a kid.

I do not understand a few things however, what do you mean when you say "It is a fixed time loop". Is that because he can not travel in time to before he transferred the power over?

Also, what/who is AX?

Thanks for the help, you always give great insight!

AX-- Apprentice Xehanort

As for the fixed time loop - i'm saying that bc he went back in time and gave himself those powers and plans- this event will always happen and cannot be changed .He will always grow up to become what he does and continue on with his plans. It cannot be altered ..Kind of like a fixed 'destiny'. He can travel to any time as long as a version of himself is also there to anchor him . You are welcome my friend . I try xD

When he time travels he needs to have a version of himself there and can only TT in one direction forward

also heres some interview explainations:

Were the 13 Seekers of Darkness, who were meant to be in different times, gathered by transcending time with magic?

Nomura: Just as it says in the story, to transcend time one must ‘first’ discard their form. As a result of the actions of the Brown Robed Figure, they all were in a state where they had gained the power to transcend time. The Brown Robed Figure explains the facts. The thirteen were summoned at the same time, this time thanks to Young Xehanort who borrowed that power. However, apart from Young Xehanort, that does not mean that all the members transcended time.

— In other words, Ansem and Xemnas were, at the same time, existing in the time and space of KH3D as well as having returned to their true human form after being destroyed?

Nomura: Yes, it does turn out that way. However, as I said before, ‘The World That Never Was’, where the thirteen all met, is a special space. The mechanics behind how they were all able to exist at the same time is a mystery. From KH1 on, Ansem has returned no matter how many times he has been defeated, perhaps the same sort of thing happened.

What about Xemnas and Ansem, essentially they weren’t inside anyone, was it due to circumstances of the worlds of sleep?

Nomura: First off, when Young Xehanort made contact with the Brown Robed Figure, that is to say, the Xehanort who called himself Ansem, his abilities were transferred to him. As a result of Master Xehanort tossing his physical body, he was able to exceed time, and this power was carried into the Brown Robed Figure. Thus when Young Xehanort made contact with him, he gained this power. Possessing this power. Young Xehanort functioned as a “portal”, summoning Xemnas and Ansem each time they appeared. That’s why Young Xehanort was there whenever they appeared. Additionally, when Sora and Riku dropped into the worlds of sleep, simultaneously Young Xehanort himself goes into the world of sleep.

It would be easier also if you had more specific questions too xD

That's confusing as all hell.

I may have this totally wrong, but if I'm reading this correctly (Which I very well may not be) Young Xehanort is plucking Xemnas and Ansem from the past and carrying them into the future...so this all happens in the span of time in the other KH games where nobody encounters Xemnas and Ansem?

Like, after Ansem possessed Riku, YX came to Hollow Bastion to take him to the future before Sora, Donald and Goofy went to fight him at the End of the World? Because I can't see YX taking Ansem to the future when he's still technically trapped inside Riku later. Of course, then there's all the stuff that probably happened with him during 3D that I'm unaware of and oh god, my head.  x.x

TT is confusing as firetruck period for most people . Yeah YMX plucks them from the past sometime before they were defeated but it wasn't said about exactly when or  any specific times. When they return to their respective times to carry out their destined defeats they remember nothing of what occurred in the future.

I may be wrong on this part, but with time travel, things can happen in the span of less than half a second. It's entirely possible that YX plucked Ansem SoD while he was possessing Riku, took him into the future/dream world to fight Sora and Riku, then plopped him right back into his appropriate time period without anything having happened since then.

It's like, if I took something from you at 2:59:59pm, traveled into the future to use it for some reason, then traveled back and put it back where I found it at 2:59:59pm (and one millisecond), it would be as though it never left in the first place. (Of course, in order for things to work out properly, the item I took would have to have ceased to exist by the time I brought it to the future, as two of the same object at the same time could create a paradox. That's why Ansem SoD and Xemnas can be in the future: because they don't exist in those forms at the point in time that they've been brought to.)

...Time travel is confusing, ok?

I understand the TT basicly, but not enough to explain it. What I want to say, is I think they took it too far with the whole time traveling thing. Okay so theres magic keys and talking animals and Nobodies and Somebodies and alternate dimensions and memory erasing, BUT DID THEY HAVE TO THROW TIME TRAVELING IN THERE TOO?

Like the story wasnt complicated enough? They really had to time travel everything? It wasnt enough to go linear, they had to start skipping time. -.- Dont you think it is better that everyone could have lived there lives and it all fell together because of the whole "destiny and everything is connected thing"? But nope, a great deal was already happening before the storm hit the islands. Before even BBS. During the whole storyline there was this bigger plan set up by MX...That makes everything that happened though KH seem belittled.

Do you get what I mean?

This is true. They could have gone to the future and then immediately went back to the past at the exact second they left the first time. So, that can sum that up.

But here's my other problem: If they have time travel...why didn't they just kill everybody before all this shit happened in the first place? I can kind of see MX wanting them to prove their strength and feel like they can win after besting all his other forms, only to kill them all after all they've accomplished just because he's evil but...c'mon, guy! There's better ways to go about your evil schemes!

I'd say Flaming Lea explained it perfectly.

Because TT was only meant as like the back up plan to the back up plan since none of his other incarnations plans worked .xD If any of them had been successful he wouldn't have needed to use TT to further his cause bc he would've achieved his main goal . But they all failed .

This is why I hate TT. Plus it's cheesy and cliche IMHO.

Yeah, it is cliche and def unneeded.  They were like, hey lets throw in time travel! and we were: -.- wow okay square. right after our heads were done being mind screwed. They couldnt have left things to "it was destiny, everything is connected!". It had to all be a side story to time travel. -.-

But hey, they might fix everything in KH3! :D

They didnt kill everybody, because the rules of TT in 3D say taht you cannot change events that have happened or were destined to happen. So Ansem SOD and Xemnas's defeats were unchangable, as well as the events of BBS to 3D not being able to be changed. According to the rules, Xehanort creating this TT bullshit plan was always supposed to happen, which is why it was allowed to happen.

That...doesn't make any sense at all. Like, even moreso than usual. Was Young Xehanort dueling Terra, Aqua and Ventus individually in BBS part of that plan? I don't even get it. I'm just going to go with my 'Xehanort likes screwing with the main characters' idea.
