Riku's Death in KH3

I'm not saying he dies forever......maybe like a death that will motivate sora to kill xehanort. Overall, I think he should die ( even though I don't want it) It'll be a good way to finish his story, if you think about it.

No, it's TERRIBLE if you think about it. Riku's voice actor, David, has been in the series just as long as Haley and Hayden, so he deserves to finish the series with them too. -_-

 

What I think SHOULD happen though, is he actually does technically die in the game somehow, BUT, and this is a huge BUT, he MUST be brought back to life in the end of the game or in KH4.

I somewhat doubt that any real important protagonist will die; it just doesn't seem to be Kingdom Hearts' style.  Fade away, sure, disappear and never return save through memories and fragments of the heart, of course, but I don't think any main character will actually "die."  Riku may be sealed away or disappear or something akin to that, though even this would surprise me with the role they're beginning to establish with him.

I know i'm a little late, heh, But honestly, It would be kind of neat if they killed off Riku, Because think of it this way, Sora needs a personal reason to fight Xehanort, And if they don't give him one, I wouldn't want Sora to be the one to finish the battle, lets see In KH1 Sora had reasons to fight Maleficent and Ansem, Ansem completely possessed his best friend, while Maleficent was trying to basically sacrifice Kairi to reveal a keyhole. In KH2 Sora really had no good reason to fight Xemnas, he only did so since Xemnas was the bad guy. While in KH1 Sora was completely infuriated by Ansem and Maleficent, And take KH Re:CoM for Example Marluxia was tormenting Sora by getting Namine to replace his memories and then in many ways torturing Namine in front of him, Sora killed Marluxia and walked away from his violent death with no issue whatsoever thus showing Sora can if needed be angry, I want to see the older more Mature Sora enter this mode, except in a more intense way, If Riku were to die, it would probably put Sora to the point were all he cares about is killing Xehanort which is an area that has not been explored by Sora yet in KH history. And for those who say no one will die it's Disney, i mean come on guys... Disney always kills people look at Mufasa from The Lion King, and so on, On top of that, they have to kill someone important since the only person who has stayed dead, (and no one say Xion, its obvious she's going to return) is Eraques, It would make sense to kill someone else off, now not saying i want it, but it would show the world that SE and Disney will kill off characters at proper times, I want to explore Sora's angry side, because up to now all we have seen is friendly Sora who instantly forgives people without thought, while we have seen the angry Roxas the angry Riku, And even the Angry king mickey for crying out loud! Sora needs his moment! So dont judge when i say Riku should have his final game in 2015/16 whenever they release it.

While I agree that Sora needs a personal reason to go after Xehanort in the end, I think he already has it. Most of the people in his life were hurt/tormented by the Old Man (Riku's fall to darkness, Ven's suffering, Roxas's manipulation, etc). Add to that, the devastation Xehanort has directly and indirectly unleashed on the worlds that Sora has been to and seen. I do agree that Riku's death would be a good "final straw", I don't think it is necessary for Sora to have a personal stake in Xehanort's downfall.

Sure, seeing Riku die would be a pretty surprising and emotional event, not only for Sora, but for fangirls and regular fans alike. I think the only possible way Riku will die in Kingdom Hearts III is if he sacrifices himself and takes a blow for say, Sora.
