RikuFangirl2008 1,368 Posted November 14, 2013 (edited) I don't know... I feel like if I did explain it to my grandmother, she wouldn't understand what a word I said. I was talking to some one about Kingdom Hearts 2 at some party, and her and other family members were there and they didn't get what we were talking about. I did show her the Kingdom Hearts game book once and she thought Sora was a girl. ._. lol Edited November 14, 2013 by RikuFangirl2008
Kaweebo 3,617 Posted November 14, 2013 I've had to explain that exact same thing to my grandma before, too. Essentially, it boils down to: 'Kingdom Hearts is basically a Disney game where you go and fight bad guys through a bunch of Disney worlds.' Obviously that's not the full of it, but she wouldn't understand the Final Fantasy and actual plot of the game. (Or care enough, anyway)
xoblivionx13 1,133 Posted November 14, 2013 (edited) Because I know my dear grandmother would still listen and be polite if I told her the actual explanation Edited November 14, 2013 by xoblivionx13
Captain Arrowguns 466 Posted November 14, 2013 The funny thing is, my grandmother was actually the one who introduced me to Kingdom Hearts. She loved Disney movies, and she loved to play video games, so she bought the first game. One day while my family was visiting her, she let me play the game at her house, and then let me borrow it. I loved it so much, she let me keep it. I still have it to this day. 7 Shiki_Phantasy-Style, Lino Velázquez_45655, juma086 and 4 others reacted to this
Noobles 301 Posted November 14, 2013 Playing a soundtrack from Kingdom Hearts usually works.... I play a lot of music from anime and video games in the car when we go out and sometimes my grandma asks for the soundtrack not realizing it's from an anime or video game. Then it makes explaining KH to my grandma a little easier

juma086 263 Posted November 14, 2013 This reminds me of my Aunt when I'm watching DBZ. *Vegeta is about to fight Zarbon* Aunt: Who is he? He looks like a madman! *Referring to Vegeta* Me: I guess you could say that. Aunt: Why is that man blue? Me: He's an alien auntie. Thats normal on their planet. *Fighting commences* Aunt: OH MY GOODNESS THEY'RE FIGHTING NOW Me: ...Yes. Yes they are. Aunt: Well, can't they find another way to settle their differences?! Me: No. It's way past that point. That wouldn't be entertaining *Zarbon transforms* Aunt: What happened to him?! Me: He transformed. Aunt: TRANSFORMED?! Me: Transformed. Aunt: How can he do that? Me: Alien, remember? *Zarbon starts to brutally pound the crap out of Vegeta and even sends him hurtling into the ground, creating a crater that fills with water. Aunt is saying "Oh my..." constantly as the beatdown continues.* Aunt: Is he dead? Me: ... *Vegeta crawls out of the water bleeding and gasping for air* Aunt: HOW IS HE ALIVE AFTER ALL THAT Me: Because he's an alien too. He's a Saiyan. Aunt: What's he sayin? Me: NO that's the name of his species. He's from planet Vegeta. Aunt: I thought his name Vegeta? Me: It is. *moment of silence* Aunt: Why do all the Aliens speak English? Me: I DON'T KNOW! WHY DO POKEMON ONLY SAY THEIR NAMES? DON'T THINK ABOUT IT SO HARD! So every question after that came with a made-up answer. Aren't old people fun? 3 Aang, Master Keeper and WindSpirit1997 reacted to this

PEople either think Kingdom Hearts is a girl game, or a card game. Or a Japanese anime. No one understands us fans.

Hero of Winds 2,576 Posted November 14, 2013 I've never had to explain a game plot so much as having to explain why I play games. I always get the worst question of all: "What is it that makes this good? I dun see what's fun about playing games all the time..." Hasn't anyone heard of immersion? Actually, I have a friend who just recently got into KH, I had to explain plot points and the mythos to him and it wasn't hard at all. The problem is speaking with elderly people who are used to very linear things. Nothing will make sense at that point. My grandma doesn't even bother to ask about the general idea, just asks if I'm playing my 'Kingdom of Hearts' game and I always have to correct her that it's just Kingdom Hearts. Velvet Scarlatina 607 Posted November 14, 2013 I just told my grandparents that they would have to sit down with me for an hour if I tried to explain everything, and they leave it at that.
Caity 3,946 Posted November 14, 2013 Most people I explain it to have some knowledge of games, where the seemingly endless stamina and all (their constant moving) is understandable to keep the game moving forward. I say, there's a hero, everyone's connected to him in some manner, evil guys cause shit trying to bring forth Kingdom Hearts (an entity, not the series) and their means typically end up putting people in danger which is unacceptable, and Sora's the destined one to save everyone. To find out more play the game.
Lalalablah 1,538 Posted November 14, 2013 I don't explain it if they ask me while I'm playing the game. I either ignore them or give them hints to go away. In other situations I just say it's like a mix of Final Fantasy and Disney. I know they have no interest in playing the game so I don't bother giving them a good explanation.
