The Transcendent Key 12,109 Posted November 13, 2013 Hey there everyone, how's it going? As you all know, Thanksgiving is practically upon us, and you know what that means, Christmastime is coming! In the spirit of the season, I decided I wanted to talk about this with all of you. Okay, so as we all very well know, each of us has a specific tradition when it comes to Christmas. With that being said, I'm going to share my tradition with all of you. Okay, so ever since I was little, I would always write a letter to Santa to say thanks for bringing me presents, and I'd always leave crackers and milk. (We always ran out of Oreo cookies because I'd eat them, lol.) For years I did this until the point where my parents had the talk with me about how they're the ones who buy the presents and that Santa doesn't exist. But even though I knew this, I still kept my tradition of writing a letter to Santa and leaving the crackers and milk. (Yes, it was crackers henceforth. ) Every year I've done this, and this year will be no exception. Another tradition I have is to watch The Polar Express on Christmas Eve or at least on Christmas week. There's just something about that movie that's so surreal and hipnotizing, and it's a movie I hold dear to my heart. You know, I love Christmastime, especially for the fact that it's the one time of the year when people really connect with each other and they forget about pain and sorrow, and they enjoy the little things, something all of us should do more often. And also, Christmastime is such a wonderful time of year, I mean seriously, who doesn't love the cold winter breeze and getting comfy in the couch watching your favorite movie or TV show? All I can say is that Christmastime is the best time of the year for me. So tell me then, one and all, what are your Christmas traditions, and what do you love most about Christmas? 2 Sora232323 and HarLea Quinn reacted to this
HarLea Quinn 26,501 Posted November 13, 2013 (edited) My family had Christmas Eve dinner and we got to open up one present early on Christmas Eve. We also finished up our christmas cookie making marathon .Then on Christmas morning we went to church and then came home and opened presents and had a huge family dinner .I loved spending that quality time with family enjoying the warmth of the fireplace and the glow of the christmas tree lights and celebrating our faith . mosokisa 93 Posted November 13, 2013 My Christmas traditions are pretty simple really. I live in Finland so we celebrate it on Chritmas Eve. Often I go to sauna about at noon or something and later I eat Christmas dinner with my family and after that we open the presents. When I was little I always watched some kids' shows on TV in the morning. Many of them were actually quite boring but it was a tradition so I watched them every time : D
Neptune Vasilias 340 Posted November 13, 2013 Have Christmas Eve Dinner, Play a video game till midnight, watch The Boondocks, go to sleep for 2 hours, wake back up and open presents without my family, hook up anything electronic like Headsets or Consoles, Open up my video games and install the games on my console, drink some juice, watch Family Guy, go back to sleep, and wake up at 11am or whenever my friends call me on my phone to get online
venxas24 544 Posted November 13, 2013 On Christmas Eve my family gets everything ready for the next day and my siblings put out cookies and milk before going to be. On Christmas Day we wake up and go into the living room by the Christmas tree and open presents with each person having to sit in their own area of the floor. Abut halfway through presents my mom makes something to eat like cinnamon rolls or something like that and we eat then we finish the gifts. Later throughout the day member of my family come by to visit and we have a family dinner with tons of brownies and pies and cakes for dessert. After that we pretty much just chill for the rest of the day playing with toys and all that jazz. Its a good time
Amber Cole 1,557 Posted November 13, 2013 My family always hides a pickle ornaments inside the tree and you have to try and find it. If you do find it you get a prize. I think it's a German tradition from my great grandpa. or it could be an Irish one....
Dave 5,715 Posted November 13, 2013 Our Christmas Eve tradition is actually to have spaghetti for dinner. I don't know how that got started: it was probably one of those things that happened once, and then just snowballed. But now, I can't imagine having a Christmas Eve without spaghetti. 1 Zola reacted to this
Shard the Gentleman 2,891 Posted November 13, 2013 Turning on Bay News 9 and listening to the Christmas songs that play on Christmas eve, and sleep next to the tree... right after eating the "cookies and milk," or in my family, the Taquitos/Tacos and Dr. Pepper. Next day, have a huge breakfast and supper/lunch. Open up the presents, and have fun. Sometimes we go outside, other times we play with our gifts (sometimes games, sometimes movies, etc.) It's really great.
