In the first game, in order to stop the ultimate keyhole(that doesn't even work yet) Sora decides to activate it by sacrificing the only person in the world who can lock it afterwards.

 

In Chain of Memories, before even remebering anything about Namine Sora and friends go deeper into castle Oblivion because some hooded guys who are obviously using him as a pawn in their evil plan told him to.

 

In KH2, after learning that defeating heartless only helps the Organization Sora decides to visit many more worlds and take out tens of tousands of heartless instead of just follwing the clue that they got after their second visit to HB.

 

In BBS, after Ven finds out that MX wants him and Vanitas to fight in order to create the X-Blade, Ven does the right thing by going to the keyblade graveyard to fight Vanitas.

 

In Dream Drop Distance, after Riku tells Master Yen Sid that he discovered MX's ultimate evil plan

to have 13 hearts of pure darkness to fight with 7 hearts of pure light in order to recreate the X-Blade.

Yen Sid realizes that he cannot allow this to happen so he decides to

gather the 7 keyblade wielders of light to fight with the 13 Xehanorts.

It makes the story interesting.

Despite my defense of Sora, I will admit that a lot of the games' problems end because Sora is extremely manipulable.

 

CoM can be somewhat excused because his mind is essentially being screwed with, so he forgets about a lot of the danger, or even what their original motivation was, all to find Namine. Then when she finally reveals what she really is, he had already forgotten everything, anyway.

Fool. I think we can all just agree that Xemnas is a mastermind and can manipulate any one.

Concerning DDD Yen Sid stated that they have no choice but to go along with MX's plan because if they don't MX will go after the princesses again to get what he needs.

Because it would be the only way to restore Kairi and the other Princesses, and if you had the opportunity to bring your friend/crush back to life, wouldn't you do anything to make that happen? Besides, Sora thought he defeated Ansem and that the decision was his alone.

 

Because Namine kept messing with Sora's memories, making him less and less rational about the decisions he was making. She said herself that any memories of her and Sora would only make Sora's feelings towards Kairi even stronger, and love can make people do the most stupid things. Also, the fact that their friends were somewhere in the castle was what brought them there, and the fact that a friend was in danger was what kept them going.

 

Because they LITERALLY explained it after Hallow Bastion. If Sora and company don't defeat Heartless in other worlds, then the Heartless will just keep on attacking people, and that's bad. Really bad. What other choice does he have? He could have gone to Twilight Town first, but that would have meant ignoring the events that went on in the other worlds, which would mean risking them to be consumed by more Heartless.

 

Since you didn't mention Days or Re:Coded, I guess the answers were already obvious to you. Roxas was basically a tool for the Organization, that was his life, he didn't really understand anything else. Data Sora's Heartless was hidden from all of them this whole time, so nobody could guess that everything they did only benefited it.

 

Because Vanitas threatened to kill Terra and Aqua if he didn't, and you know that you can't just sit around while your friends are getting beaten up. Add to the factor of responsibility, and basically, you have the willing sacrifice to do what is right, not for Master Xehanort, but for Ven and everyone else. The same can be applied to Terra and Aqua. Master Xehanort threatened to kill both Ventus and Aqua, and Aqua knew that she had to question Terra before it was too late. Responsibility is what drove all of these characters, not because they were easily manipulated.

 

Because if Yen Sid doesn't gather Seven Guardians of Light, Master Xehanort will instead target the Seven Princesses of Heart, and that would mean that the World will instantly be plunged into Darkness...and that's bad. So, it's either fight and have a fair chance of beating them (well, relatively speaking for 7 vs 13), or don't fight only for innocents to be mercilessly slaughtered. Responsibility plays a key role here again. You have to fight so that no one else may suffer.

I think CoM makes sense, as by the time he realized what they said was true, they were already deep in the castle, and lost a bunch of memories already. I think they kept going because they wanted to see if they could get them back.

1.  Most of the times regardless of the enemy wanting it, it's something that needs to be done.  Like taking out the heartless in KH2, protagonists aren't the type to sit back and let people getting hurt thinking "well my acts are part of the antagonist's agenda, leave them to fend for themselves"

2.  If they just stopped and didn't bother the story would be at a stand still, thus a really short story with no climatic battle or drama.
