HarLea Quinn 26,501 Posted November 2, 2013 (edited) This has been addressed a million times here . Ventus ISNT the sole reason Sora wields . He's the reason he DUAL wields. He wields his own keyblade and DUAL wields with Ven's. He wields his own keyblade without Ven's heart from the end of KH1 all the way till he reunites with Roxas in KH2 since Ven's heart stayed in Roxas when Sora lost his heart and Roxas was born. kh-king 48 Posted November 2, 2013 The reason Sora can hold a keyblade is because in the first game when Riku got taken by the darkness the keyblade decided that it would temporarily go to a more pure heart. However in Hollow Bastion when you first fight Riku, Sora and his heart proved themselves and the keyblade chose him...

Caity 3,946 Posted November 2, 2013 False. Sora can wield a keyblade because Riku, Terra's successor fell to darkness and it sought the closest being of light/strongest heart, which happened to be Sora. This is why Riku could take the keyblade of him later on when he consumed the darkness and his heart grew stronger. Sora's whole "my friends are my power" is what earned him it back. Ven is the reason Sora can dual wield, not wield. So when Ven is restored it is likely that dual wielding won't be possible, but KH is fanservice so if people want it some looped logic would be made to him being able to use it. E.g. "Oh well Ven was the reason initially, but now he has the power equivalent of a master HE CAN DO IT AGAIN WOOOOO".
Nweintraub 630 Posted November 2, 2013 I sort of think so. Afterwards, Ventus will put Sora in the Keyblade inheritance ceremony.
Hero of Light XIV 2,381 Posted November 2, 2013 It's like this. There are an unknown amount of requirements a person must have to wield a Keyblade, but the two we know of are that that person must either have a strong heart, and that the person was put through a Keyblade Inheritance Ceremony (but that just kind of suggests that they had a strong/promising heart to begin with). Terra had seen himself, as well as a great hero, in Riku, and since despite it all, Terra's heart was strong, which means that Riku's was too (since he wanted to protect his friends). So that's why he passed the power of the Keyblade on to Riku. Now Aqua was about to do the same thing to either Riku or Sora until she sensed that Riku already received the power. This caused her to change her mind, and instead of passing the power on to Sora, she had him promise to always look out for Riku (ironic since Riku wants to look out for Sora and everyone else). While she believes that she saved a friendship from being conflicted by having two Keyblades, she failed to notice the fact that she accidentally performed a Keyblade Inheritance Ceremony with Kairi several worlds earlier, meaning that she would one day wield the Keyblade as well, but not before awakening her powers as a Princess of Heart first. And then, there's Ventus. This is probably what made Sora destined from the beginning. As soon as Sora was born, his heart reached out to Ven's and established a connection (a little more powerful than the natural ties that bind us together), thus healing Ven's incomplete heart until the day he could complete it again. Because of that, Sora's personality developed along with Ven's and vise-versa. Ven acted more cheerful, more sure of himself, and more dependent on his friendship with Terra and Aqua, while Sora most likely developed the same personality traits that Ven had, as well as his own. In this way, it's really hard to figure out just who is influencing who? Is Sora influencing Ven, or is Ven influencing Sora? Perhaps a little of both...? Anyway, it even got to the point where Aqua states "he's the spitting image of Ven" despite the fact that they look obviously different when you look at them (though she could be speaking metaphorically, like he reminds her of Ven, or he's as cheerful as Ven, or whatever), and Vanitas' appearance itself changed to become that of a mature Sora once Ven's heart connected with Sora's. However, Sora's appearance was the only aspect of Sora he ever got, as Vanitas seems to act in stark contrast to Sora's personality. But after defeating Vanitas once and for all, Ventus was finally able to properly complete his heart, whole once more. However, because he destroyed the X-Blade, he destroyed his heart as well, meaning that his heart was lost to that hazy border between light and dark. But much like how Sora's heart found his way to Ven's, Ven's heart managed to find his way to Sora's heart, once Sora called out to him. At that moment, Sora welcomed Ven into his heart, to heal and rest until the day that he could be woken up from his slumber. By this point, Sora now began housing Ven's heart within his own, and by having a Keybearer's heart within him, he in a way already went through a rather indirect Keyblade Inheritance Ceremony. But it's possible that it wasn't even at THAT moment that Sora was destined to wield the Keyblade. Since Sora's heart connected to Ventus' heart at birth, it's also possible that Sora already went through an indirect Keyblade Inheritance Ceremony, especially since he helped Ven repair both his heart and his ability to wield the Keyblade. The X-Blade formed from Ventus' heart may have also been a sign or foreshadowing of Sora's destiny to wield the Keyblade, as the X-Blade itself was formed of two Kingdom Keys. Now if it had been a Kingdom Key and a Kingdom Key D, the whole matter would be different, as it would represent both the Realm of Light, as well as the Realm of Darkness. However, since it was two Kingdom Keys that made up the blade, it is possible that it's appearance was in relation to Ventus and Vanitas' connection to Sora, who is destined to wield the Kingdom Key, the Keyblade of the Realm of Light. But I'm getting ahead of myself! The main point here is that Sora technically already went through an Inheritance Ceremony, and once you go through one, you get a Keyblade...how soon though depends on how strong your heart becomes. Riku's acquisition of a Keyblade was interrupted when he gave into the darkness in his heart, which lead HIS power to use the Keyblade to go to Sora, who could wield a Keyblade because he already had a Keybearer's heart (in some form or another). But whether Sora took RIKU'S Keyblade, or took his ABILITY to wield a Keyblade, or whether Riku's Keyblade was ever supposed to be the Kingdom Key is left rather vague and unclear, the main point that IS clear is that Riku's submission to the darkness at that moment was what awakened Sora's ability to wield a Keyblade, but Sora's moment of strength in Hallow Bastion was what solidified his right to the Keyblade. (It should be noted though, that the Kingdom Key oddly seems to share the same colors as Riku's outfit and hair at that time in the series, but I doubt that is a significant detail) So at this point it can be said that Sora's ability to wield the Keyblade comes from HIS heart alone now, because he proved that his heart is strong enough (fittingly enough by acknowledging his heart's weaknesses). Ven's heart helped lead the way to the moment where he first got the Keyblade, but from Hallow Bastion onward, it was Sora's heart that wielded the blade. And then there's Roxas. Since by this point in time, Sora held not one, not two, but THREE hearts within him (his own, Ventus', and Kairi's), his moment of releasing his heart to become a Heartless has led to several unforeseen side-effects. First, there's losing his heart to the darkness, becoming a mere Heartless himself. Then, there's releasing Kairi's heart so that it may return to Kairi, who can't turn into a Heartless because of her being a Princess with no darkness in her heart, leaving her with an empty comatose body, which has now been reunited with her heart. And finally, there is Roxas, Sora's natural Nobody, formed in Twilight Town just as Sora turned into a Heartless. However, his appearance didn't match Sora's entirely (despite all of that "You look just like him" business. And no, they weren't talking about Ventus, they WERE talking about Sora...the people of this universe have strange concepts of familiarity!). This is because when Sora released his heart and lost his body, rather than just his soul remaining, Ventus' heart also remained in Sora's body, which then became Roxas' body, which then took on the form of Ventus because of his heart's presence within him. So it is because of Ven's heart that Roxas looks the way he does, rather than looking exactly like Sora (Though I do have my own my own theory about Nobodies' appearances being slightly altered variations of their human selves, that doesn't seem to ring true with all of them, and could just be a form of aging....despite the fact that they don't all look to be that much older than the day they turned, BUT I'M CHANGING THE SUBJECT AGAIN!!) But is Ven the reason that Roxas can wield the Keyblade?.....Well, no, it's because Roxas is Sora's Nobody, and thus his ability to wield it is linked to Sora's (but to be fair he does hold ONE Keybearer's heart within him at that moment, so the opposite could also be true...until Nomura blatantly says "no", rather than indirectly). But Ven's heart does grant Roxas his appearance...but his personality is a different story altogether. Roxas had to develop his own personality, and while it was similar to Sora's, it wasn't the same. It was Roxas' experiences that helped shape his personality. He was cheerful at times, but also easily saddened. He was strong willed, but very sensitive. He could be very passionate, but also very sullen and moody. In a way, it almost resembles Ventus' personality towards the later half of Birth by Sleep, where he is slowly losing his friends and everything he cares about, forcing him to sort of develop a little more aggressive attitude. Ventus may have acted as a mold for him, but Roxas though was shaped by his experiences, and his constant loss of things he cared about and barring from the truth he so desperately wanted formed the upbeat yet angst-ridden character we all know of. But then come's Sora and Roxas' ability to dual wield. Now while I am a bit fuzzy on this concept as there are WAY too many variables involved, the main idea is this: Sora can wield two Keyblades because he holds two Keybearer's hearts, his own and Ven's. Roxas shares this ability (much like his ability to wield a Keyblade in the first place) because he is Sora's Nobody, so Sora's powers are Roxas' powers. But despite that, neither one of them initially had access to this ability. It had to be unlocked. In enters Xion...ugh, I think my head is starting to hurt already. Xion has her own story and everything, being a clone of Sora and Roxas, getting Sora's memories through Roxas, gaining a personality of her own through her experiences, being "the Kairi that Sora remembers", blah blah blah, and the most important part of the game, HER DEATH. Roxas' friendship bond with Xion, along with Xion and Roxas' confusing direct connection to Sora, was strong enough that Xion was beginning to absorb the rest of Sora's powers through Roxas, along with Roxas' powers as well. By defeating her, Xion had released the memories that she had been holding on to, as well as the powers that came with them. But rather than returning into Sora, they went into Roxas. The amount of power that he had regained, along with the trauma and anguish of Xion's death, was what awakened (or reawakened or whatever) that power within Roxas, allowing him to wield two Keyblades (which I'm very sure started out as his Keyblade and Xion's Keyblade, but Nomura is never going to be clear with me). But since Roxas was now holding onto the rest of Sora, he had to be returned to Sora as well. Riku subdued Roxas after some difficulty and took him back to Twilight Town to be reunited with Sora. By being reunited with Roxas (and thus being re-reunited with Ventus), Sora was FINALLY made whole again, awakening the latent power within him to wield two Keyblades in battle, but it was only awakened by being fused with Roxas (because Roxas had Ventus' heart). And then Axel's death stirred Roxas from within Sora yet again, causing Roxas to enforce himself as a separate entity and personality than Sora, which lead to their climactic battle within their heart. After being defeated by Sora and his bonds to his friends, Roxas finally accepted Sora on his own (since he was forced into fusing with him in the first place), and willingly became one with him in both body and spirit, unlocking Sora's full potential (namely Final Form). Since then, Roxas has been relatively dormant within Sora, with only a few moments where he shows himself to Sora and others. But this shows that he as an individual still exists within Sora, just as Namine exists within Kairi. OH YEAH! Namine! She was another confusing consequence of Sora releasing his heart. Despite the fact that Kairi had lost her heart earlier in the game, she had no darkness and couldn't turn into a Heartless, so she got to keep her body...but only her body. Namine couldn't exist because Kairi's soul and body remained as Kairi while her heart was within Sora. By releasing Kairi's heart, Sora not only gave "birth" to Roxas, but to Namine as well. Namine was Kairi's Nobody, but only through Sora losing his body could Namine finally have a body to exist (without truly existing) with. Now whether she had her own heart or not is confusing, considering the whole plot-smasher that Nobodies could grow hearts of their own over time, but it may not be important...yet. Namine's existence seems to extend from both Kairi and Sora...and by extension Roxas...and by extension Ventus. I believe that it is because of all of these connections that she came from that she can have power over Sora's memories and other people connected to him (maybe even others). She was born FROM connections, meaning she has power over connections, which his why she has power over memories. Her powers and unique nature may also stem from the fact she is Kairi's designated Nobody, and thus the Nobody of a Princess of Heart, so there's a whole random chaos of the power of mystic magic thrown in there as well. But her appearance may also be worth addressing. She is a girl who for the most part...sort of resembles Kairi, but mostly due to the fact that she is a girl. Her hair color though is what interests me. It's some form of blonde, just like how Roxas and Ventus' hair is a form of blonde as well. If Namine is born from the connections that Sora has formed in his heart, at the center being his connection to Ventus, then her appearance and abilities may come from that center as well. The mere fact that she was born in Castle Oblivion is a sign that she holds at least SOME sort of connection to Ventus in some way. Take that into account, along with the fact that Kairi can now wield a Keyblade, you have to wonder if she may also hold the power to wield a Keyblade. Namine truly is a mystery, because she is the mystery that Nomura hasn't focused on addressing as much as the other mysteries of the series. There remains so much about her that isn't explained that it really makes one wonder just what the heck is going on!? But whatever, that's a different mystery. The point is that I just filled up an entire page by going into too much length about how Sora was destined to wield the Keyblade on his own, and that Ven only helped unlock that ability during unusual circumstances. I hope this helped make things clear, because I honestly find it baffling how each long post I make keeps getting longer and longer. 1 Kevin_Keyblade reacted to this
