MasterXemnas 2,285 Posted October 21, 2013 Fool. Not right now. The way we are, people like to take the easy way out. To use technology to its utmost potential, we need to grow as a species. But instead we're impatient and use technology prematurely. Humanity grows slowly while technology grows exponentially. 1 ReikuSSR reacted to this
Dave 5,715 Posted October 21, 2013 Yes. I think that the internet has helped globalization progress by leaps and bounds in a very short period of time. Given the level in which information is constantly transferred across countries and continents, I think it has helped open our eyes to how large the world is, as well as showing how much in common we have with people living on the other side of the planet. Also, the level of communication that the internet has opened has its benefits as well. Millions of people interpreted as anti-social, in the past perceptions of what interaction was thought as, now are presented with an outlet in which they can communicate en masse in a format that they are comfortable with. I think it provides sound peace of minds in a social context that would other wise be denied to a lot of people. 3 ReikuSSR, waytothexdawnx and Zola reacted to this
waytothexdawnx 1,159 Posted October 21, 2013 (edited) Yes and no. It's beneficial to communicate, store information and files, look up information and reviews, so much. It even helped the medical world. If it wasn't for technology a lot of surgeries couldn't be performed nearly as successfully or even possible at all. What if we didn't have X-rays and other important pieces of medical technology? Technology is amazing and getting more advanced everyday. For society in general as in phone and computer wise, I think it's really bad. You have 12 year old who do nothing but play video games, have an iPhone, cyber bully, chat roulette, and a bunch of other dangerous things. I think certain technology should have an age limit. Children in America are morbidly obese and its become an epidemic. They have no idea what fun really is or what its like to truly be outdoors and use their imagination. So it's really beneficial and not at the same time. Without technology we wouldn't have much of anything, but I do think certain people at certain ages don't need all of the technology, or at least time limits on them. Lalalablah 1,539 Posted October 21, 2013 Yes it's beneficial, it is what allows society to advance. Something as simple as the wheel was considered technology back then (and technically still is) 1 ReikuSSR reacted to this

Neptune Vasilias 340 Posted October 21, 2013 Yes because without technology we would have to worry about simple things like the Beasts. Technology has helped us overcome ourselves, obstacles, and even cause us to evolve to a point where our primordial fears are something lost in the past just like the diseases. Technology has cured so in essence we thrive and live through technology because if we were from a weak gene pool and born to die you'd never know because technology helped develop medicine. Technology has actually helped many of us ,who should've died young from something as insignificant as chicken pox or the common cold, cheat death and live full lives we may not have been destined, genetically capable, or preordained to live in the first place. Hero of Light XIV 2,381 Posted October 21, 2013 Yes, I do think technology is beneficial. Its an extension of how much promise we have, and it promises to improve and prolong our lives in many positive ways. Fool. Not right now. The way we are, people like to take the easy way out. To use technology to its utmost potential, we need to grow as a species. But instead we're impatient and use technology prematurely. Humanity grows slowly while technology grows exponentially. But I do have to give MasterXemnas' point credit. They way we are moving, technology is going to be so far ahead of us that we may might loose sight of how to properly use it. Not to mention the fact that due to our impatience we are using technology to completely replace entire forms of communication between each other, rather than just improving it. The way that things are working right now, people are using technology so that they don't have to do anything that requires effort and movement, particularly the the kind that they need. If we as a whole can mature into our technology a little better, then tech will help solve more problems like obesity and being antisocial, rather then just causing them. 1 ReikuSSR reacted to this
