Currently I use Mac OS mainly to get schoolwork done and stuff like that. Is Windows 8 really that good though? I heard some people would have a hard time with the operating system if they were into gaming.

Yes, it's amazing. I'll admit I was one of the people who didn't like it at first, but once I actually used it, I loved it. It takes some getting used too, but once you're used to it you'll never go back. Best OS on the market.

I do plan on getting a new computer soon so I'll take your word for it. I heard it uses all those box like things instead of the start menu or am I wrong? It looked cool and seems quite organized if you ask me.

That IS the start menu. And yes, it's great. You can organize it whatever way you want.

Wow, that is nice. Taking a step forward into the future I see, lol. I'll definitely take a look into it when I go computer shopping or whatever you would call it.

Windows 8. I was resistant to upgrading my old computer to windows 8 (been using Vista). And when I reached to a point where I need a good computer for college, I have to upgrade my computer and OS. I end up getting the Lenovo series with windows 8, and I have to tell you. It is awesome, and I can't wait to use the new WIndows 8.1 update that I'm currently downloading.

Windows 8 came with the laptop and it wasn't originally supposed to be my computer. It was for my mom but she complained the screen was too small. (I'm not complaining. Much better than my old laptop.)

Windows 7. I find it a better OS due to superior speed and less RAM takeup than Win 8, and it's faster. Win 8 IMO sucks due to the speed being inferior to 7, the RAM takeup for the OS alone, and the fact that I just don't like the way it looks. I had to get use to it in order to help my niece use her Laptop though. Still, Win 7> Win 8, IMO. Although, Linnux is very good as well.

Windows 8 is faster than Windows 7.

Not in my experiences. Most of the time, its slow, unnecicarraly complicated, and overall useless. But remember, this is MY opinion. If you feel Win 8is faster, then fine, that's you.

I don't feel, I know. I've seen it make old computers run a lot faster. I've never heard of anyone disliking it after they have used it for awhile.

How is it complicated? Lol. It's very simple to use. Useless? It does more than past versions of Windows.

It's difficult to access some features. One, in particular, is the changing of the screen display. You see, my niece wants to watch videos on our TV from time to time. Well, trying to get to the option to do that took far too long, and same can be said about getting to simple things, for example, the section where some installed content from the %appdata% file folder. When trying to do simple mods to Minecraft in order to make it useable for someone was super easy on Windows 7, but took forever and was difficult to do on Windows 8. To view file extentions also is a pain. If you want to access simple functions, it dosen't work consistantly. And I've noticed 13 gig computers that with Win 7 have 10 gig ram and go down to 8 gigs or less. It lags a lot, and I have seen it be infected with strings of viruses very easily. And if you notice, a lot of people who are really tech savvy agree that Win 8 is not as good at Win 7. It's new features are mainly eye candy or better supported on Mobile. It still confuses me, even though I have to work with it on a daily basis basically. Also, a side-note, humans are incapable.of "knowing"; were only sure of things 99.9% of the time. For example, I say I see a flying buffalo, I can feel it and smell it, even ride.it, I'm sure it exists, but you do not. It's perspective you need to think about.

My desktop Windows 7, on my laptop Windows 8 with a shell for Windows 7, though I do use some of the features of Windows 8 (like the weather app) since my laptop isn't a touchscreen I prefer the Start Up Menu from Windows 7
