Does anyone here think that The World Ends With You needs a sequel, or a prequel? I remember reading a rumour that Nomura was considering creating one, but I am not sure whether this was denied or confirmed, and there was the picture of the unidentified girl at the end of the game's tablet version, which hinted that the franchise could have a proper future. The appearance of alternate-dimension versions of the game's main cast in Dream Drop Distance shows that the franchise is not being left alone as well.

Personally, I think that a sequel/prequel that does not contain the same characters, but has a similar art style and atmosphere, is a necessity. Though I never played the game, and my memory of a walkthrough of the game that I watched is extremely foggy, I believe that the franchise deserves a future.

I would like this thread to be deleted if a similar thread has already been created.

Yes, there should be a sequel, or prequel depending on what SE has planned.

unfortunately, there is not much info about them, however, there is a spin off band going on that Takeharu Ishimoto (composer of TWEWY music) created that plays some songs. I hear they are recruiting another vocalist.

Yes. With sequel it should be somewhere else than Tokyo and new characters that may have some ties to the first and you can create your own character. Prequel should show how Joshua came to be the Composer.

This is kind of a struggle for me. I LOVED The World Ends With You, it's my favorite game of all time. I get the idea that another game could ruin the experience the first gave for me by not living up to the standards set by the first. However, at the same time, I REALLY want to take another trip through the UG. So, I guess I'll have to say yes. However, I really want them to use new characters. The original cast completed their stories, they aren't needed for the next go, aside from maybe a cameo or two.

I would prefer it as a stand-alone title. I love how it ended and I loved both the DS and the iOS version of it, but I wouldn't mind a sequel with just new characters and that being it. I would not want a prequel showing how Joshua became Composer as it would kind of ruin his mysteriousness. Now, granted anyone who has played Another Day would know that...

Joshua is an angel and having a prequel would, at least to me, would kind of ruin his mysteriousness
