Grimm Tidings (1x1x1x1(x1) )

Recommended Posts

"Y-yeah...." Joshua stood fairly close to Aria, but in front of her nonetheless. "It's just a Grimmlen...we'll be fine...." He reassured, readying his gloves, unaware of whether or not the creature lied below him. (...I've just...never fought one of them before....) He thought to himself, cautious of any movement. Grimmlens fought more like illusionists, making any confrontations with them much more complicated than one with an Ursa or Beowolf, even if they aren't as physically capable.

Suddenly, a form materialized in front if them, blown in on a wind that didn't exist. It was the Grimmlen, or at least, it appeared to be the Grimmlen. It stood before them, staring at them with its huge sun-like eyes. And then it blinked. And as it blinked, the whole sky went dark and then went red, as if momentarily shuttered. Like the Grimmlen's eyes had been shuttered. And when the sky had returned, there wasn't a Grimmlen in front of them anymore. There were twenty. And they were moving toward the pair of youngsters. With arms outstretched. With a ravenous light in their eyes. With the mouths on their stomachs opened wide.

The darkness brought instant fear to Joshua for the time being, in which only added to the Grimmlen's apparent multiplication. He stepped closer to Aria, but formed a ring of red Dust around them, exploding outwards right as the Grimmlens made contact. He gave a sigh of relief, but knew they weren't done, or if any were even real.

The flaming bodies of the Grimmlens were thrown backward by the blast, but as the flew, they collected into a massive flaming mass. The mass rose up into a pillar of flame. Two searing arms extended from the pillar and blasted fire at the pair. That unnerving sound came back, this time with an edge of crackling flame to it. "Ehecheeechcehehh!"

The fire being evoked by his own Dust, Joshua stopped the fires and dissolved it all almost immediately, but used a brownish-black Dust, moving the earth and trapping the Grimmlen mass under a heaping mound of solid dirt and rock. "Is...that all...?" He asked, staying closeby Aria, afraid mostly by the sound and the relative darkness.

The earth Joshua had dumped on the Grimmlen mass began to be absorbed into the ground. As it did, it took on the grey hue of the rest of the soil. Suddenly, the Grimmlen appeared again, and blinked again. The sky went dark, and when it unshuttered, the two were standing on it. They were also standing on the grey earth. And the Grimmlen was there, its stomach fixed in a ghastly grin as it tried to break their minds.

"Enough!" Aria cried. Dust spiraled around inside Angel's Ascent. A risky combination formed and orange and purple patterns were being drawn along her glove. She screamed and plunged her claw into the ground, releasing the combination of pure hybrid energy. Trying to completely tear apart the illusion from the inside out.

(If we're inside the thing like I think we are, this should be effective)

(I was thinking on it, but the result is the same. But now that I think about it, being inside its eye is a much better idea.)

The ground and sky split, the Grimmlen screamed, the world flew apart before their eyes. When they opened them again, they were back in the forest. The body of the Grimmlen was dissolving in front of them. Its mental assault was slowly fading from their minds. The only sound was the rustling of the leaves.

(Grimmlen transport you somewhere on or in their bodies. Attacking the ground or sky during a Grimmlen attack doesn't always work though. It depends on where in the Grimmlen you are. Nasty creatures.)

The Grimmlen gradually dissolved into death, the sky and ground appearing to return to normal for Joshua and Aria. Joshua stood in awe from what Aria did to kill the Grimmlen, and, in fact felt rather inferior to her. All the more reason to want to train at Beacon Academy....

"Th-that was amazing, Aria...! I guess I owe you for that...." Joshua said with a sincere smile, one completely opposite from his previous attitude involving Ferro.

Angel's Ascent returned to its ring from. "You think so?" She asked. She wiped away the tears that were forming in her eyes. That was scary. Really scary. Maybe Ferro was right about her. But she wasn't about to let be known. She'll get stronger. Braver. So she could prove herself to him.

The characters for the dragging in of Neko:

One:

Name: Dane "The Boulder" Namios

Age: 22

Gender: male

Appearance: very tall (as in over six feet), huge muscles, just this massive solid guy, well tanned, firm features, a heavy brow, black hair, brown eyes. Dane likes to think things through, and dislikes acting rashly. He also prefers to solve his problems through brawn. He wears clothes with incorporated metal plates. He has a pair of large bracers on his arms and heavy greaves on his shins, in addition to a large metal backpack. All his clothes and equipment are colored dusty brown with dun-orange accents.

Weapon: Dane's bracers, greaves, and backpack all expand into a sort of full-body weapon. The bracers and greaves expand into identical large oblong domey things. Inside the domes are rocket shotguns and seismic-pulse slammers. The domes themselves are propelled by small jets. The backpack expands into a large metal casing around his torso and a helmet with a display over his head, and metal plates and heavy hydraulics connect the limb sections to the torso section. The hydraulics have the added effect of being able to convert kinetic energy into extra power for the seismic-pulse slammers. He can also curl up into a ball and use his jets for propulsion (this is where his nickname comes from), turning him into rolling metal death.

Semblance: weight control. Dane can use it on himself and other objects human sized and smaller. He can use it often. Effect is temporary.

Bio: Dane had always loved his twin brother Mike. They would play through the whole day together, Dane lifting up Mike so they could reach fruit on high branches. Even after they started school, Dane would always stick with his brother, the two practicing combat styles together. Fresh out of Beacon, he and his brother are ready to take on the Grimm.

Two:

Name: Mike "The Bullet" Namios

Age: 22

Gender: male

Appearance: pretty short (as in under five), slight build, thin, fair skin, blonde hair, perpetual smile (almost a smirk) on his face, blue eyes. Mike is a quick thinker who prefers to talk things through. Unfortunately, his tongue sometimes gets him into trouble. He wears yellow clothes with sky blue accents. He has the same bracer-greave-backpack combo as Dane, although not as large compared to his size.

Weapon: Mikes bracers expand into rounded, jet-like shapes around his hands (think Megaman). He fires yellow Dust (electricity) bolts from them, and can charge them up to fire a large blast (keep thinking Megaman). His greaves turn into jets, and his backpack connects the two with a flying-squirrel suit membrane and a helmet-display over his head (stop thinking Megaman). This combination allows him to glide around, using the jets and large bursts for propulsion.

Semblance: density. Mike can make things harder or softer. Only works on small object less than half human size. He needn't change the entire object, i.e. he can make one part denser than the rest. Effect is temporary.

Bio: Mike always stuck up of his brother Dane. When the mean kids called Dane stupid, Mike would proceed to fast-talk them so badly that they would walk away in confusion. Going to school gave the two brothers time away from those mean kids, and Mike relished every second. Now they were on their own, and Mike felt like he was sailing free. Working in concert with his brother to smash Grimm in the face was the best thing in the world.

Also, Ferro's Semblance: astrality. Ferro can partially shift himself onto the astral plane, rendering his body able to pass through solid objects. The benefit also extends temporarily to objects he touches. Sustaining this ability requires a very large amount of aura, and so Ferro doesn't use it very often.

Joshua looked up to Aria with approval and respect. "Of course! We won because of you, Aria," He said with a bit of joy and enthusiasm returning to him, "So...thanks." Joshua was of clear happiness as of now, but still kept his demeanor. "It was great Aria...so...don't be afraid." He began reading Aria's eyes and expression like a book, smiling faintly and trying to be comforting. "People like...well...that guy from earlier...just underestimate people like us. I know we're not perfect...and we could still improve everything...but even now, he's wrong about us."

"Um...." Joshua thought for a second. The flames could cause an awful lot of damage if left alone, and Joshua didn't want to see Ferro at all, so, naturally, his preference was to quell, or attempt to quell the flames. "Towards the fire." Joshua said bluntly, with a look of certainty. He gestured for Aria to come as well, and began returning to the fires. (I remember how the two people who started the fire looked like....) He thought, (I just...don't know where they went....)

Aria followed the young boy. She liked Joshua. He was definitely nicer than Ferro. She knew she was trying to avoid the jerkface at all costs but she wondered whether or not approaching a forest fire was a good idea. Maybe Ferro was even justified, worried over two reckless kids— if this wasn't reckless, she didn't know what was. She brushed those thoughts aside nod focused on something else. Joshua was a nice guy. She liked him. Hey, Joshua, can you hear me? She thought.

"Look out below!" a loud voice yelled. A large shape crashed through the tree branches, landing in the midst of the fire. A shockwave slammed outward, dispersing the fire and knocking the pair off their feet. Amid the dying embers, a huge shape rose up.

Over by the two fire-starters (Neko's people), a streak of motion crossed the sky, then arrowed down to land right in front of them. "Hey! You with all the fire! You can't just go burning down forests! What do you think would happen, the fire would stay contained?! No! Of course not! This forest is a precious part of nature! You two are coming with me!" With that, the rather short boy grabbed both of them by the back of their shirts and pulled them intot he air.

Ferro looked down and spotted his pair. He also spotted a huge metal giant and a smaller streak of motion over across the way. "Oh, these guys." he thought with a smile.

"Hey! Let me go!!" Akai complaint.

"Struggling will get you nowhere Akai." Kiiro sighed.

"We can go burning down stuff. We can't just go blowing up people and houses! If I wanted too I could incinerate you right now so let me go!" Akai just kept complaining.

"I would let her go, she will burn you." Kiiro said rather calmly.

"I really don't think you could incinerate me right now. We're moving too fast for the flames to catch! But no matter, we're landing now." The boy tilted into a vertical dive, and at the last second flipped over and landed on his feet with the twins in hand. "I've got the perpetrators, bro!" The huge shape turned and took the twins from the short boy. He stared them both in the eyes. "Why'd you go burning the forest?" he said in a surprisingly mellow voice for such a large body.

"Well, there are Dust-proof rooms for that. Forests are for hunting Grimm! But not this forest, you know. This one is rather dangerous!" the short boy said, giving the two a remonstrating look. "But I'm not one for dwelling on mistakes. If you guys can start a fire like that, you should be fine." The boy looked over the big man's shoulders. That was when he noticed the other two people in the clearing. "Hey, a couple more! What are all your names, hey?" he asked all four of them.
