Sora96 17,256 Posted October 9, 2013 The announcement of HD 1.5 ReMIX in September 2012 was one of the most exciting announcements of all time for me. At first I thought it was a joke but then I saw the website announcing it. I quickly posted a news article about it and then sent urgent messages to the offline DChiuch as I was about to go out. The reason this announcement excited me so much was multiple reasons. The main one however, was the fact Re:Chain of Memories would finally be released in Australia & Europe and even in the unlikely chance it wouldn't I could always import it since most PS3 games are region free. The other reasons were Kingdom Hearts Final Mix and 358/2 Days would finally be in a good resolution and I wouldn't have to play that boring, ugly game anymore. While I enjoyed it greatly in 2009-2011. But I could no longer enjoy it on the DS, in fact I wasn't enjoying DS games other than Pokemon at that point anyway. And it was another reason why the PlayStation 3 was the most powerful video game console on the market at the time. I played them in story order: KHFM, Re:CoM and then 358/2 Days. I completed Kingdom Hearts Final Mix on Final Mix mode without using any continues. I was annoyed at times by the way Sora's eyes looked with the new character model. I was also annoyed when the subtitles changed style and position. I didn't care which way they were out of the two, as long as it was consistent across the entire game. Summon as the fourth slot and reaction commands being added were nice touches. While it is understandably a lot of work for a HD remaster, I would have loved a Theatre Mode. Unknown, Sephiroth, Ice Titan, Phantom and Kurt Zisa proved easy fights despite how hard some people made Unknown out to be. Unknown only took me one attempt. After I completed the game I changed the camera to manual and noticed in an instant how much better it is. The only thing that really grinds my gears about the game is the Gummiship or Gummishit missions. Now onto Re:Chain of Memories. The game was everything I thought it was and more. I loved it. I played through it on Standard mode. My only "challenge" was when I reached Vexen #2. At this point in the game, I wasn't even using sleights. Once I actually started using them the boss battles became even easier and I steamrolled through the game. I defeated Riku Replica, Larxene, Axel and Marluxia without any problems. Riku's was even easier, I only had trouble with Riku Replica #6 and Ansem. But it didn't take me long to defeat even them. Re:Chain of Memories was a very enjoyable game. Collecting all the Heartless cards and leveling up Riku are going to be so painful. The mini-games suck. And finally 358/2 Days. I thoroughly enjoyed the cutscenes, the only parts that let it down were the countless amounts of "Ice Cream" scenes and the text based scenes other than that I loved it. Very happy that they didn't remake it, and not just because of the fact it would have taken a long time. The PS3 themes are a nice touch, my favourite is Re:Chain of Memories'. The issues I've detailed above help bring this HD collection down. I am not looking forward to finishing those Gummiship missions, collecting the Heartless cards or leveling up Riku. And I would have so loved a Theatre Mode for KHFM. But despite all these the HD collection turns out great. The games look amazing, and the other additions/improvements made are so unheard of for a HD collection. The almost certain HD 2.5 ReMIX will be a bigger deal though, the additions they made in KH2FM were much larger in scale to KHFM's given the fact they added over 60 new cutscenes, 20 new boss battles, 12 new mini-games, better graphics, more cutscenes with voice acting and a Theatre Mode holding almost 600 cutscenes despite missing a fair chunk is impressive. And the fact I've never played Birth by Sleep excites me to play what we assume is Birth by Sleep Final Mix. Re:coded will also finally be presented in the perfect way. 8/10 9 VentusRoxas, advfox, The Transcendent Key and 6 others reacted to this
The Transcendent Key 12,109 Posted October 9, 2013 Nice review, I really liked how you described your likes and dislikes about it, as any fellow reviewer would. And I agree, 2.5 will be a much bigger deal, but for now, I'm content with my beloved. 1.
Sora232323 36 Posted October 9, 2013 Your right but 2.5 remix will be the better hd collection thanks to two final mix games and hopefully better multiplayer in the mirage arena. 1 Uchiha reacted to this
Gamerazor247 877 Posted October 9, 2013 (edited) WONDERFUL REVIEW SORA ^.^ I actually look forward to a 2.5 review and even a KH3 review by you now Edited October 9, 2013 by Gamerazor247
Uchiha 47 Posted October 9, 2013 Does Final Mix mode mean Final Mix:Proud? I found on Proud it was a lot harder than standard, especially Unknown. Good point about the Theater mode, I would have liked that and was a little disappointed that it wasn't included. I was annoyed that they bothered to replace Ansem's model in KH1:FM but not in KH:Re:CoM, it's just a little confusing. Sora's voice change was a little annoying too (his balls dropped pretty fast), but I guess they can't fix that unless they replace the voice actor, which might not have been good. SHAZOW 269 Posted October 9, 2013 Here my review: I like it.
KH4Real 749 Posted October 9, 2013 Larxene2 is a pretty bitch. On CoM she was easier . Was so happy when I got rid of Riku IV. Vexen2 was easy you need to use less sleights. I finished him in one try. Even with not the best cards.

The difficulty modes in KHFM are: Final Mix: Beginner Final Mix Final Mix: Proud Yeah, nothing you can do about Sora's voice becoming deeper. They were recorded six years apart. AaySquare 445 Posted October 9, 2013 You know what annoyed me the most in KHFM? Lip Sync! :x It was so annoying to see non lip sync and lip sync in the same cutscene. It had been 4 years or more since I played KH on PS2 so I don't remember myself being annoyed back then but I don't think I even did because I wasn't used to lip sync as much as I am now. Orchestrafanboy19 101 Posted October 9, 2013 These things that people bring up are appropriate, but I find them to be trivial matters. Everyone has their own opinions, and I respect that. However, such things as lip-synch, updated models, gummi ship, etc. I don't know, call it nostalgia immunity, but these things don't bring the game down for me. Isaix 924 Posted October 9, 2013 Good review,I agree for the most part, but I think Days should have been playable even if that meant that we have to wait an other year.I also wasn't using Sleights in REcom until I reached Vexen. And maybe that's just me,but I really think they should have changed the look of the subtitles of KH1FM,they should have used the same sub that they used in the Days cutscenes
juma086 263 Posted October 10, 2013 I think I'll make a mini review myself when I get all trophies.

What are you talking about? In KHFM, THE LIP SYNC IS FINE AND SYNCS TO ENGLISH VOICE ACTING. Its Re:COM that has the lip sync thats still the same japanese lip sync with english voice acting. It's probably not called lip sync that was bothering me then. I mean when you see every character's lips keep going up and down and not in sync with the words when they are talking. If you understand what I mean...

In KHFM the lips SYNC TO THE ENGLISDH VOICE ACTING. Unless the models for characters have default faces, then they just go up and down. 1 AaySquare reacted to this

In the ending when Sora says "Kingdom Hearts is LIGHT!!" The part where he says "Light" doesnt match up with his lips at all. Otherwise its fine. Don't think so. I think that is fine. What scary is Ansem's line is so perfect.
