well why would ven wield his keyblade backwards? and then when his heart combined with sora's, sora did not wield his keyblade backwards. Why?

I think he hold his keyblade like that because that is the style of the keyblade...(I think)

Wayward Wind's handle designed was meant for backhand combat. Thus, knowing Ven's small size, he would be the speedy assault out of the BBS group. Making Terra the heavy hitter and Aqua the Black Mage blahblah.

The keyblade was made to be held backwards.

I forgot to check the design of the blade and luv lucky star and vexen/even stephen prince plays in it as random chara.

its probably natural for him, just like its natural for ppl to write with their left LIKE MEEEEH

In Universe, I have no idea. It's more than likely that there are multiple popular Keyblade styles, like in real-world martial arts.

In terms of character design, it was probably to distinguish him from Roxas besides just the outfit.

I guess it might just be of nature. Didn't Ven hold his keyblade backwards when he was being taught by MX? Still under Eraqus' teaching, he held the blade backwards, so maybe Ven prefers to hold it that way.
