VanitasMustDIE 1 Posted May 26, 2010 well why would ven wield his keyblade backwards? and then when his heart combined with sora's, sora did not wield his keyblade backwards. Why? 1 Stevenecoda reacted to this
AFS 0 Posted May 26, 2010 Well, its not like Sora NECESSARY had to learn and get all ventus
kingdomlanelover 494 Posted May 26, 2010 Because Ven is pimp like that! No anyways, each keyblade master holds it different. It's just there trade mark. 1 waytothexdawnx reacted to this
Reversal 53 Posted May 26, 2010 well why would ven wield his keyblade backwards? and then when his heart combined with sora's, sora did not wield his keyblade backwards. Why? It's his own style. There are only so many ways you can wield, so a little variation is well appreciated. Sora's always wielded like that, as you can see from the early BBS trailers in the scene where Terra sees Riku and Sora sparring on the beach.
VentusX 20 Posted May 26, 2010 Nomura probably just wanted a new style for him to use to show he's different than Roxas and Sora.
Rue 3 Posted May 26, 2010 It's simple. Ven's just Awsome like that. also cause I think, they wanted to make him different enoguht to show people that he looks like roxas, nothing else. 1 Kello reacted to this
Ventus_XIII 50 Posted May 26, 2010 It goes with his ability. Speed. Holding it backwards makes it easier to attack because he doesnt have to take the momentum to lift the keyblade and swing. But that's just a guess. I agree with Reversal and AFS too 1 Kello reacted to this

Then agian he was built for speed. his hair adds aerodyamics! ^^
Heart Princess 4 Posted May 26, 2010 why do many people use their left hand? Why do some people write from from the bottom up instead of top to bottom? Some things just come more naturally to others and is in their comfort zone, there doesn't have to be a specific reason. Obviously Nomura made him that way to set him apart from everyone else and show how unique Ven was as a keyblade bearer. Like said earlier, there are many ways to wield keyblades and it can depend on your personality and traits 3 Zenithia, Kello and M.Aqua reacted to this
hawk222 152 Posted May 26, 2010 Doesn't King Mickey also hold his Kingdom Key like Ven at one point in KH2?
roxas is da one 1 Posted May 26, 2010 ventus is right I think they did that since ven is mostly only about speed terra is hardcore so they make him look a little more bad ass
NumberXIII.Roxas 64 Posted May 26, 2010 Doesn't King Mickey also hold his Kingdom Key like Ven at one point in KH2? I know what your talking about. I think its just the way we see it. The angle makes it look backwards.
baylaust 2,531 Posted May 27, 2010 1. The Keyblade Ven uses is meant to be held backwards because of the handle design. 2. Holding it backwards allows him to attack faster.
Athiyk 1 Posted October 6, 2010 Everyone that posted before me basically has the right idea. It's his style, it's his preference, it's just what he does, it's fairly new to the Kingdom Hearts series and adds a new sight to the battle system. In a practical manner, the reverse grip has its' benefits that the normal grip doesn't (flaws too, though). Of course, it also takes a decent bit of training, since not everyone can actually move their arm and wrist in the right ways. It shows his uniqueness as a character, and that he really has been training hard to become a Master. If you want a quick and easy answer? It just looks cool and they wanted to show he's definitely not Roxas. Or some such simplicity. 1 Kello reacted to this
aznshadow390 8 Posted December 29, 2010 It's'just his style of fighting.
XIIIUltimate 0 Posted January 5, 2011 Probably just his own style. However, it does lead to a bit of unintentional foreshadowing when Vanitas possesses Ven at the end of Aqua's story: Possessed!Ven holds his Keyblade out in front, unlike normally, so it shows that something is not right. HelpMeRan-Sama 141 Posted January 18, 2011 because he likes it I sometimes find my self holding stuff like that too (Coincidence plz, this habit started when I was like, 11 or something ) 1 Kello reacted to this
Antrium 10 Posted January 18, 2011 It's Ven's own persobnal style of fighting, I think...
hatok 6,413 Posted January 19, 2011 Holding the keyblade backwards wouldn't make it go any faster. In fact, to get an effective first swing you would have to lift you are for longer than holding in forward. Ventus' reverse grip comes naturally to him, even when he casually holds things it's still backwards. Holding a blade in reverse is generally done with daggers, or stabbing utensils of a similar nature, as a sword stance, you can only make a weak first attack, but you can make a much more powerful second strike (Try it) and the 3rd strike averages it out. There's a bit of range loss as well though. Ventus' signature command, Strike Raid, is ideal for this stance however. Of course this is coming from a person who has always held front-ways, if it came naturally to you, or you practiced, this would be a perfectly viable stance. ZeroInformalities 0 Posted July 1, 2011 Just like everyone else said: speed, natural reaction to holding it etc. I do the same thing. I'll grab a butter knife and walk to give it to someone backwards.
Rodman 22 Posted July 2, 2011 It's his style. He's gotta stay smooth.

Exodaze 491 Posted March 20, 2012 I'm thinking because of his abilities and that he is a wind-person. He must strike those keyblade fast like a wind. But in order to do that, he must hold it that way 1 Kirie reacted to this
Kirie 3,489 Posted March 20, 2012 I think he hold his keyblade like that because that is the style of the keyblade...(I think)
