rikunobodyxiii 700 Posted February 3, 2014 Cassandra shook her head. "I'm not familiar with that name, but if he is the librarian at Lucis, I'll be able to find him." She answered. "A man like that will be well known by the locals." "Giant bicycle pens listen with feeling." Dagnet pointed out helpfully. <Yeah, no idea what he was trying to say there. *pause* Me and the big guy will stay out of town and let y'all talk to this professor guy. We don't do crowds well.> The raven on Cassandra's shoulder looked around the party, carefully avoiding eye contact with Reya. "If the big guy has nothing else to add." The huntress said sourly. "Let's go to our appointment with the professor."
Elrandir 783 Posted February 3, 2014 (edited) While the others where talking, Reya was looking at Cassandra and her Raven."Interesting. Maybe my question made her feel more uncomfortable than I thought. Note to self: Avoid asking Cassandra personal questions."Aura noticed how Reya was lost in thought and probably knew why but chose to ignore it,"If that's what you wish then we should pick a rendezvous point" she said to the giant. "Once decided Reya, Cassandra and myself should ask the citizens of Lucis about the Professor."The blue haired girl finally regained her focus just in time to get a glimpse of the town of Lucis in the distance."Finally! Although...I thought it would be, i dunno....more impressive?" she said while shrugging. "It must be one-third the size of Heimdall so it is a big town if you think about it, but at the same time it feels small. Maybe I should stop talking, or thinking? sometimes it is hard to know if I'm thinking to myself or talking out loud."The Oracle looked at Reya before nodding."You were, in fact, talking out loud Reya." she answered. "Sometimes I find it interesting but most of the time it is funny.""Hey!" Reya gasped. "That hurts my feelings Oh Great Lady Oracle of Heimdall. Anyways! forget I said anything."Reya then began humming a song. Edited February 3, 2014 by Elrandir
rikunobodyxiii 700 Posted February 7, 2014 As Aura spoke, the raven on Cassandra's shoulder watched Dagnet closely, trying to see some sign of how this other part of the giant spoke. "Then he's staying out of the city?" Cassandra asked. <Just nod to the nice lady who occasionally tries to kill us.> Dagnet gave Cassandra a close examination as if he just saw her. After a moment, he nodded. <Good boy.> "Alright, then." She said with a return nod. The Huntress continued on in silence for a few yards, then she sighed. "If it helps you think, then say it out loud." She said to Reya. "If we are going to travel together, I'd like you to be at your best." <Whoa. She was actually sort of nice there.> "How much experience do you two have on dealing with outsiders of your town?" Cassandra asked.
Elrandir 783 Posted February 8, 2014 Reya thought about Cassandra's words before nodding."Alright. Sounds good to me."Aura nodded to the Huntress before speaking."While it is not so often that we have visitors in Heimdall, I, as the Oracle and Leader, like to give them the most heartwarming welcome."The blue haired girl then raised her hand to speak."It may be my hyperactive and carefree behavior but I don't have that many problems with outsiders. It is fun when we have visitors! That way we can learn about the outside."The Oracle focused on the path in front of her while still paying attention to the conversation."We do business with the towns and cities from the outside, so when the representatives of said towns or cities come for our merchandise we like to give them the most respectful treatment."Reya smiled while looking at the raven on Cassandra's shoulder."Take Lucis as an example. Naboo is the owner of the Chocobo Farm and a great Chocobo breeder who sells chocobos to many places, including Lucis. Or Naotu who is the head of the Industry Guild and a great glassblower. Just a few examples, but we like to treat the outsiders like they are a part of our community."
rikunobodyxiii 700 Posted February 12, 2014 "That's something." Cassandra said, one of the ravens nodding slightly. "If you need to, say you are from Heimdall. If you don't need to, don't say it. Being an anonymous outsider is better then giving out your street address. If we are going to have competition for your little quest, I'd rather them not know where we've been and where we are going." "Burn, baby, burn." Dagnet murmured darkly. The Huntress stopped suddenly, both ravens glaring at Dagnet. "Don't you dare." She hissed. "If you are suggesting what I think you are, don't even dare." <Whoa, I have no idea where that came from. Trust me, if he tried to hurt innocents in our path, I'll stop him. Aaand you still can't hear me. Crap.> Dagnet chuckled and shrugged his massive shoulders. "No fear." He said, and marched on. Cassandra's birds continued to watch the lumbering l'Cie continue on while her face was set in a scowl. She started moving again as one of the raven's turned its head to look at Aura and Reya. "We will need to split up with him soon before we enter the town." She said in a restrained tone.
Elrandir 783 Posted February 13, 2014 "Don't worry!" Reya said to the Huntress. "The voice said he will keep him under control."Aura nodded at Cassandra's comment before looking at the Giant l'Cie."Please try to be on your best behavior once we leave, alright?." She said in a calm tone. "If not, then you can expect some consequences. We don't want to draw attention. Have I made myself clear enough?"The Oracle along with Reya followed The Huntress and the Giant for a while before speaking once again."This should be close enough. You can wait around here while we go into town. Let's split up once we are in the town so we can cover more ground."Reya waved her hand and smiled."Sounds like a plan." She said before looking at Dagnet. "Dagnet, please don't do anything bad while we are busy looking for the Professor. See ya later."The blue haired girl then ran into the town and in a few seconds Aura lost sight of her."Let's be on our way Cassandra. The faster we find the Professor, the better."The Oracle then made her way into town.
rikunobodyxiii 700 Posted February 15, 2014 Dagnet sighed and rolled his eyes at Reya's and Aura's reminder to be good. <Don't worry. We'll be fine.> One of Cassandra's ravens fluttered off her shoulder onto a nearby tree, keeping an eye on Dagnet. "Right behind you." Cassandra said, following after Aura. "We'd best head for the library first. Start with the target's main place of living." Dagnet and the remaining raven stared at each other, neath of them blinking. Elrandir 783 Posted February 15, 2014 "Sounds right."Aura looked around the town for a moment. Lucis, while being a small town, was bursting with life. Its citizens doing their daily activities or just hanging with friends. It took the young Oracle a moment to find what she was looking for."Excuse me. May you grant me a little of your time."Aura spoke to a pair of men to learn the location of the library."Sure thing Missy." the oldest one said. "What can we do for you?""You see. My companion and I are looking for the local library. Do you think that you can point us in the right direction?""Oh! that's an easy one." the youngest said, clearly checking Aura out. "See that street? You need to walk around 10 blocks down the road, then turn left and another couple of blocks and there you are."The Oracle nodded in response and gave them a small bow, but the youngest man spoke once again."So, what's your name? You're clearly not from Lucis." he said while pointing at Aura. "Those clothes are quite exotic to be from here. Are you from Heimdall, perhaps?" the man said while smiling. "We could go to the cafe and chat a little if you want.""I must apologize, but I have no intention of accepting your request. We have an appointment and we can't be late. Please excuse us."Saying that Aura took the street that could take them to the library with a slight look of annoyance."He must think that I'm a Heimdallian that came here looking for a partner."Aura could listen at the older man yelling at his friend from the distance."Are you an idiot?! Every time there is a girl, you start flirting!"Reya on the other hand was looking for the library on her own while eating a slice of bread that she got moments before."If what that nice old lady told me was right, the library must be really close." rikunobodyxiii 700 Posted February 16, 2014 Cassandra walked slowly through the Lucis, keeping her head down and adjusted her hood so that most people couldn't see her bandaged eyes. She had been here a few times before, but mainly through the eyes of one of her ravens. Some of the town lay out she only knew from the air, but with one raven keeping an eye on Dagnet, she was stuck on the ground. Still, the library in her old town looked big and important, so hopefully it would be the same here. Through her raven's eyes, she saw people staring at her. There was always staring when she went into towns. Partly why she started avoiding them. As the huntress walked, she noticed a young woman strolling down the side of the street, her nose in a book. With her attention solely on her reading, she started drifting into the cart traffic. Cassandra sped up slightly and got along side the distracted girl, shooting out a hand to grab the girl's arm and pulling her in as a cart thundered past. The girdled looked around wildly, but stopped when she can face to face with the woman with bandaged eyes. "You got that book from the library?" Cassandra asked. The girl nodded. "Which way is it?" Cassandra continued. The girl pointed in a direction. The raven followed the finger while Cassandra's face stayed facing the girl. "Thanks." The Huntress said. "Watch where you are going." Cassandra let go of the girl and headed in the direction the girl indicated.
Elrandir 783 Posted February 17, 2014 (edited) Reya was standing outside a moderate sized building while looking at a sign on top of the entrance."Books and Branches Library" she muttered "Rather strange name for a library I must say. Perhaps is was intended as a pun, yes? I mean, books come from trees and trees have branches. Rambling...I'm rambling..."Once again taking a look around Reya saw a few people reading books outside. Some under a tree while others on benches scattered around the library ground. The blue haired girl slowly made her way into the building."Nice. A little small, but nice nonetheless."As Reya made her way into the counter she caught a glimpse of a collection of books on one of the tables. Being the curious girl she was she made her way to look at those books. It was weird, no one was around but they looked like they were used regularly."Whoever read these books do it in here all the time every time. Strange that no one put them back on their rightful places. Perhaps I could-""Stop." said a female voice. "Those books are property of Professor Steins, please do not touch them.""Uh? Oh! Sorry I didn't meant to-" Reya said while waving her hands. "Say...you mentioned Professor Steins, right?"The young female nodded in response, still looking at Reya."Great! I'm looking for him. Actually me and my companions are looking for him. Can you tell him we need to have a word with him, please?""I am sorry." said the woman. "But the Professor is out at this moment. It won't take much longer for him to return tough. Perhaps you would like to wait for him.""Sure, uh? I will wait here."Reya took a seat and smiled at the woman."Alright just...just don't touch those books please."Aura was still walking around the streets trying to find her destination. It amazed her how a town like this was so lively, but her experience with the man from before refused to let her enjoy the view."If the information is right...then...it must be somewhere around here."The Oracle then reassumed her way. rikunobodyxiii 700 Posted February 22, 2014 Cassandra stalked down the street the women with the book prescribe, rethinking her previous idea of what "big and important looking" means around here. The only thing that looked close to the library in her home town was obviously a cathedral. This was why she avoided cities. She suddenly stopped midstep as information from the raven with Dagnet got to her... "Vivisection." Dagnet said irritably. "Caw" the raven replied. "Susurrus." Caw. "Phlegm!" Caw "NEVERMORE!" Would you stop trying to have a conversation with the danggum raven! It's not like it can quoth us anything.> Dagnet fell silent, but continued to glare daggers at the raven. Suddenly, the giant l'Cie snapped his head to the side, his eyes straining to see something. The raven turned its head to see, but before it could tell what Dagnet had seen, the big man broke into a run in that direction. "Damn." Cassandra swore as she saw Dagnet running through the raven's eyes. She turned and ran for the edge of town and the possibly rampaging l'Cie.
Elrandir 783 Posted February 22, 2014 "This is taking long...I mean...I like libraries and all, but we don't have much time to spare, right?""That is correct Reya" said a familiar voice."Took you long enough Aura." she said without looking back. " Did the receptionist told you about the Professor?"The Oracle stood behind Reya and nodded before looking back."Yes. Apparently the Professor arrived a few minutes ago and is taking care of something, but he will join us soon."It took around 10 minutes when both Aura and Reya heard someone approaching. Before them was a man with blond hair and brown eyes wearing a black traveling cloak and a sword on his back, but he looked younger of what The Oracle and the blue haired girl expected."Greetings." the man said. "Are you the ones that Minerva told me about?""Indeed. My name is Aura and this is Reya." Aura said before giving a small bow. "We came here at the recommendation of Arya, a citizen of Heimdall."The Professor was listening to Aura with a completely calm look on his face, but his eyes where more focused in Reya."I see. So how is my dear old friend?" The Professor said now looking directly at Reya. "By the look of it you must be...her daughter? yes? Same facial features, same hair color, same body size when she was younger, a little pale but that just adds to your natural beauty. The exact copy of your Mother when she was young.""Oh...thanks! I'll take that as a compliment. Mama is better than ever, very busy with the guild and all. In any case! We came here to ask for your help.""Do tell.""You see. We need to get inside the Library of the Ancients. Arya told us that you could help us with that.""I could do that. But for what reason do you need to get into Aeviternus?" after a small pause The Professor smiled. "Oh. Is this about The Conception?""I beg your pardon?" Aura said looking confused."Right....The Reimaging. You need information about the Reimaging, right? Anyways. Sure, I'll help, but you have to know that the library is currently guarded by the Crusade Templar. Maybe they have the same goal as you?"Reya and Aura looked at each other before looking at the Professor once again."Then we must hurry. What if they wish to use the Reimaging for something bad. Professor Milo Steins-"The Professor waved his hand and nodded to the Oracle."Milo is fine, or Professor if you like.""Professor, we will wait for you at the northern outskirts of Lucis. We need to rendezvous with our traveling companions."Aura bowed once again and made her way out of the library and began to walk back to the rendezvous point."Um....Nice collection of books you have there Professor. Uh...well...we will wait for you to get ready."Reya then got up and quickly made her way out before catching up with Aura. Milo on the other hand was watching the blue haired girl as she left."How time flies. It feels like it was just yesterday when...nevermind. Minerva! I'm going to be out for a few days, please look after the library while I'm gone.""Sure thing Professor. But where are you going this time?""Oh you know. Camping, sleeping under the stars, fighting some monsters along the way, get inside Aeviternus, reminiscing about old times and old friends for nostalgia's sake."Milo then when to the back room to get his backpack."See you in a few days. Maybe I'll bring back a souvenir for you if you're lucky."The blond man left the library and made his way to the northern outskirts of town where he should find the two Heimdallian girls and their other companions. rikunobodyxiii 700 Posted February 24, 2014 Cassandra put on more speed as she left the town. Her raven with Dagnet had lost sight of him in the trees and she was afraid to send it closer, as the big l'Cie was was surprisingly adept at catching birds. She thought she saw someone riding a horse going into the grove of trees, which might be Dagnet's target. So much for that voice the Heimdall girls kept hearing. As soon as The Huntress made it to the trees, her foot steps were near silent and she pulled her bow off her back. Using the trees as cover, she quickly and quietly stalked the giant l'Cie. No sound came from her quarry, which made her fear she was too late. Mentally ordering the raven in the air to swing out wide, Cassandra notched an arrow and closed in on Dagnet. Bursting into a clearing, Cassandra brought her bow up, aiming at Dagnet's massive back. The big man turned and nodded to Huntress, holding out some sort of saddle bag. As the raven on her shoulder saw this, the raven in the air caught sight of someone on horseback galloping away in the opposite direction she and Dagnet had come from. "Boo!" Dagnet said, triumphantly, then chuckled. Cassandra lowered her bow, her face puzzled. Maybe there was something to that voice.
Elrandir 783 Posted February 25, 2014 Aura and Reya where near the rendezvous point, but the blue haired girl kept looking back."Hey Aura?" she said. "Maybe it's just me, but wasn't Cassandra in town?"The Oracle nodded and turned around to look at Reya."She was. On our way here I tried to sense her crystal energy signal, but she wasn't near. Perhaps she is already back with Dagnet.""Oh. Alright." Reya answered.Once in the rendezvous point both girls noticed the their traveling companions were gone."This is not good. Dagnet is not here and Cassandra was not in town.""Do you think...that Cassandra and Dagnet-"Aura noticed Reya fidgeting and shook her head."Dagnet probably saw something that caught his interest...for his own good I hope.""You have quite the temper Missy." a voice said behind the girl."What the!?" Reya yelled in surprise."But how?" questioned the Oracle. "I didn't felt anything.""Oh don't mind me." said Professor Milo. "I noticed that there is only you and her. Where are your other companions? We can't lose much time of you want to get inside the library before the Crusade Templar.""I know. Let's wait a little longer for them. I hope they come back soon." rikunobodyxiii 700 Posted March 4, 2014 "Green salads turn hamsters to xylophone." Dagnet explained as he offered the saddle bag he had snatched to Cassandra. Cassandra wasn't sure that Dagnet hadn't tried to kill the rider, so very carefully taking the bag, ready for the big l'Cie to attack. After she took the bag, Dagnet stepped back a few paces and crossed his arms. Cassandra opened the bag and found a sealed letter inside. Not knowing the sanctity of a sealed letter, the Huntress broke the wax seal and held it up for her to read it through the eyes of the raven on her shoulder. As she slowly made her way through the letter, she mentally redirected the raven in the sky to fly over the town to find Aura and Reya. After a couple minutes reading, she closed the letter, her raven glaring at Dagnet. "And you knew that rider was a Templar currier when you went after him, did you?" She asked, suspiciously. Dagnet raised his mask a little for Cassandra to see a big grin. "Of course he knew." The Huntress thought. "He's had to deal with the Templars before. They hunted him for a time." Carefully putting the letter in a pouch, Cassandra nodded to Dagnet. "Fine, I'll believe you this time, but give me more warning before you charge off again." "Dangly thread." Dagnet muttered in response. Cassandra could only hope that the mythical voice from Dagnet she couldn't hear understood and agreed. She left her raven there with him, and made her way back through the grove of trees, thanks to a good memory of how she made it through before. On the other side, the other raven met her, having located where Aura and Reya were. The Huntress ran to meet up with them. She stopped in front of them, looking to be only a little winded. "Dagnet intercepted a Crusade Templar currier." Cassandra explained, pulling out the letter and offering it to Aura. "If I read it right, this is orders to block off the entrance of places like that library you want to go to and to guard them."
Elrandir 783 Posted March 5, 2014 "Faster than expected." the Professor said. "Must be really important for them to gather any information about the Conception before others do."Aura looked between Milo and Cassandra before speaking."Professor, allow me to introduce you to Cassandra Tinal." she said before looking at the Huntress. "Cassandra, this is Professor Milo Steins.""Charmed." Milo said. "You must be one of Aura and Reya's traveling companions, right?"Reya raised her hand before smiling."Yeah! She AND her ravens are with us."The Oracle stared at Cassandra before sighing."So they are already on the move. It seems that our journey is not going to be an easy one. In any case, we must regroup with Dagnet and make our way towards the Library. The faster we know the current status of the place the faster we can make a plan to get inside."Milo was staring at the distance before speaking."Do not underestimate the Templars." he said. "That could be a huge mistake. Anyways, are we ready to go? we have a couple of days of traveling before we reach the Library."
rikunobodyxiii 700 Posted March 9, 2014 Cassandra nodded to the Professor as they were introduced. Her raven shot Reya a glance when she specifically mentioned her ravens, but she said nothing. "I am ready." The huntress answered. "Our other...friend should be ready, if he hasn't spotted something else shiny." She gave Professor Steins another nod. "Thank you for your help, professor." Elrandir 783 Posted March 9, 2014 "No need to thank me" The Professor answered. "This will serve as a distraction from my work schedule."Reya glanced at the man and smiled."What? Your work as a librarian?""Reya!" Said Aura. "Please, excuse her Professor, she is"Milo waved his hand before looking at the blue haired girl."Sarcasm. Something your Mother loved to do. Perhaps if you could pull your head back to the ground instead of having it on the clouds all the time it would do you good."Reya was surprised by the change of the Professor so she decided to remain silent and looking at the ground."What? Was that a little to hard for you?" Milo snorted. "I'm just joking dear. Forgive me if it sounded rude, I'm not used to sarcasm. Arya was the sarcastic one, not me."Reya huffed and stomped her feet on the ground before looking at the Professor."No fair! It sounded pretty real! And I like my head where it is, even if it is on the clouds."Aura looked between the Professor and the blue haired girl before looking at the Huntress."Alright Cassandra, show us the way to where Dagnet is." rikunobodyxiii 700 Posted March 11, 2014 Cassandra simply nodded and led Aura, the Professor and Reya out to grove of trees Dagnet was in. She managed to use the raven with Dagnet to bring him to the side of the grove closest to the city. "We found the Professor." Cassandra told the big l'Cie, then hesitated for a moment. "Did you see anything more?" <Nope, been kinda quite on our end.> "Regular squares." Dagnet replied, waving a bored hand. <Is it really that hard to just say "no?" *sigh* so this professor guy can get us in and out of that...library place alive, right? I don't suppose he can hear me, huh?>
Elrandir 783 Posted March 12, 2014 Milo stared at the giant l'Cie before raising his hand."That is a wrong remark my giant friend. I am most than able to hear you and yes, I can get you in and out of the library." he then gave a carefree smile. "I can't assure you that you will be making it out alive, but I can try."Aura slowly looked at the Professor with a slightly surprised look on her face."Professor?"Reya then slapped his arm and snorted."Stop joking Professor. You are going to scare Aura.""Sorry sorry. In any case...we should travel north west." Said the Professor while looking at the sky. "We need to cover a long way until we reach the Library. It should take us around a day and half.""Sounds about right." Aura said. "If there is no other matter any of you need to attend, then we should get moving."Aura then began to walk away closely followed by Reya. The Professor was looking at the Huntress with some curiosity in his face."Tell me Miss Tinal, I couldn't stop from noticing that you can't hear our giant friend's voice, right?" Milo then smiled. "Would you like to be able to hear it? Perhaps that would be better if we are traveling together, don't you think?
rikunobodyxiii 700 Posted March 16, 2014 <You know, I shouldn't be surprised that you can hear me, Prof. My luck seems to be improving.> Both Dagnet and Cassandra started walking after Aura and Reya, but both stopped suddenly when they heard Milo's offer. The Huntress's face remained unreadable, though her ravens twitched. "How does that work?" She asked, suspicion in her voice. "You teach me something mystic?" Dagnet laughed loudly. "Pork sides tickle ribs." He exclaimed. <Do you even try to make sense?> One of Cassanrda's ravens eyed Dagnet for a moment, as its mistress chewed on her lip for a moment. "As long as it won't hold us up...I'm willing to listen to your method."
Elrandir 783 Posted March 16, 2014 "You must be having much fun my giant friend, having more and more people to talk with." Milo said. " And no. I won't teach you something mystic."The Professor looked at both Reya and Aura waiting a little ahead of them before looking at the Huntress."In fact I only have to open the magic receptors on your body. I can sense you're a l'Cie so I only have to tune your crystal energy sources at the same level and presto, instant communication between both of you."Milo pointed at the two girls waiting for them before speaking once again."They are not the same since girls from the Forest of Heimdall have an affinity to talk with the spirits, the Oracle more than the others, but it only means that they are taught to tune their crystal energy to different sources. That and their ears are more efficient than normal people. Some people call them descendants of Elvenkind for their pointed ears, but that's just nonsense. In any case, it is your choice." rikunobodyxiii 700 Posted March 17, 2014 Cassandra bristled a bit at Milo referring to her as a l'Cie. "Oop." Dagnet said, rubbing the back of his head. A raven shot the big l'Cie a glare as the other watched the Professor. Cassandra set her jaw, but remained silent for several yards. She didn't want to get any further entrapped by this whole l'Cie crap. But...she had to know... "Fine." She said curtly. "Do it." <Wow. I...I didn't expect that.>
Elrandir 783 Posted March 17, 2014 Milo noticed the slightly change on Cassandra, but chose to ignore it."Sounds good to me."The Professor then walked next to The Huntress before reaching both hands out. He then focused on a mental image of the woman in front of him while trying to reach and change her crystal energy source."I managed to decipher your crystal frequency, now, I will release it so it can travel all over your body, this might make you feel a slightly adrenaline rush so I apologize in advance."Milo 's hands glowed a slit second before a faint blue aura covered the Huntress."Take deep breaths while your body adjust to the change." He said before walking towards the giant. "Your turn now."Once again the Professor repeated the process on the Giant, making groaning noises a few times. A couple of minutes later the Professor stopped."It is done. I have to say that your magical receptors were a mess, but I manged to fix them. Perhaps that way you would be able to have more self control over your actions. Now, give it a few minutes before trying to communicate, it might take a little while for your bodies to adapt to the change but I see no reason for the process to fail."Milo then glanced at his other two companions waiting in the distance."Let us go, we don't want to make them wait more than we have." rikunobodyxiii 700 Posted March 18, 2014 Cassandra shuttered as Milo adjusted her crystal energy, but set her jaw to prevent any other reaction. Dagnet chuckled at the scene, but gave the Professor a confused look came to him. There was a fair amount of grunting from the giant l'Cie and his inner voice as Milo repaired some of the extensive damage to Dagnet. <More control?> Dagnet looked down at his hands. Suddenly, one of his hands balled into a fist and hit him in the face. <HAHA! I've been waiting a long time to do that.> The giant l'Cie slapped the back of his own head as way to get back at the voice. Cassandra watched the exchange through a raven, looking thoughtful. She thought she could hear something. A murmuring at the edge of hearing. Was it the voice? Both the Huntress and the Berserker followed Milo's suggestion and stepped up the pace to catch up to Reya and Aura. "So, what are your plans for meeting up with Templars?" She asked The Oracle when they were close enough not to shout.
