Godot 513 Posted May 22, 2010 No idea where this should go. I'm having a problem with my laptop....even when I plug it in, it doesn't start charging right away. It's like the computer doesn't even recognize it. I usually have to play around with it for a couple seconds, and then it finally works. Anyone have any idea how I can fix it (or even what the problem is?).
Aaron 579 Posted May 22, 2010 If it ends up "finally working" then the problem might be with the cord? It might be short circuiting or something. But is a "few seconds" so much of a problem... I mean if it took minutes..
Cellar Door 652 Posted May 22, 2010 What kind of laptop do you have? The same thing happened to mine.
Godot 513 Posted May 22, 2010 @Aaron: Makes sense. I'll look into that~ But, anyways, it takes a couple of seconds IF the laptop is lying on a flat surface and the cord is not twisted or bent in anyway. And if I accidently jostle the computer, or if I touch the cord as I'm walking away, I have to do it all over again. @Cella: An Acer laptop (one of the mini ones). They're called Aspire One or something like that.
Cellar Door 652 Posted May 22, 2010 thats what i had. the connection to the battery is getting destroyed. stop jiggling the charger (thats what i did) and try to get someone to fix it and try getting a new charger, one thats stronger than the default charger. DragonMaster 1,166 Posted May 23, 2010 Ahh, this has happened to me plenty of times on my Toshiba. It could be caused by the cord short circuiting, or perhaps the metal part that plugs into the computer could be lose. The bracket thing in the computer that the charger plugs into could also be lose, in which case you may have to get it fixed somewhere. If it is the cord then you can find them at almost any electronics store, maybe ask an employee to help you. You can also find them on ebay, but with my personal experiences, I would recommend a store bought one. Also, make sure the cord isn't getting pulled in weird directions, as that could make it lose. I would also recommend a surge protector, just in case.
