mosokisa 93 Posted September 13, 2013 So Rowling told on her website that she'll be writing a script to a new Potter movie based on Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them! It's gonna be about Newt Scamander and happen 70 years before Harry was born. (Here: http://www.jkrowling.com/en_GB/#/news-events ) : O What do you think?? I'm not sure what I'm thinking myself, I'm just surprised..! I really didn't see this coming! First I thought that it might be bad, but now I'm thinking that there's no reason why it would, actually... I'm still kind of sceptic, somehow I'm scared that they'll ruin Potter series somehow, but I don't think that's a reasonal fear, because I never thought the Potter school books or The Tales of Beedle the Bard ruined it and I didn't think the movies ruined it either, even though I haven't been happy of the movies all the time. So I don't see how this would be any different.. I don't know, this is weird and surprising, isn't it?? O.O 1 Weedanort reacted to this

O.O They're saying that this is just an extension of the Harry Potter experience, it doesn't have anything to do with sequels or prequels. I'm actually hyped for this, because there's an adaptation of that book I bought many years ago, and although there aren't as many creatures as there should be, they still give an excellent description of those creatures. And they also made a story for the Lethifold (Where a wizard was almost killed by it), and I think they could make a good movie out of this
Philip Ellwell 5,487 Posted September 13, 2013 ooo, cool. I used to have that book when I was 10. That'd be kinda cool to see some of those monsters on-screen.
Villi1997 1,832 Posted September 13, 2013 Warner Bros has Just announced that there will be a series of Harry Potter spin-off films based on the book 'Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them' and it will be set 70 years before the Harry Potter series (1920s) and it will chronicle the life of the supposed author of the book that Harry and his friends read at Hogwarts: Newt Scamander. Here is the official story http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/09/12/harry-potter-spinoff-movie-series-fantastic-beasts-and-where-to-find-them-announced 1 Movies798 reacted to this

Movies798 1,359 Posted September 13, 2013 The best part about this spin-off movie is that JK Rowling "yourself" will be writing the screenplay with her own ideas and not some writer's idea. I hope JK Rowling let them make aleast a trilogy.
Gamerazor247 877 Posted September 13, 2013 Oh gawd no... At least make Nicholas Famel appear in one of the movies

I wonder how long they're going to make it. But I like that thought the woman said in the video, that this is Rowling's way to go back to the Harry Potter World without touching and ruining Harry's story. I remember reading that book at the library! I thought it was weird so I put it back. Haha, what, weird?

mosokisa 93 Posted September 14, 2013 Yeah. In reality, it was just a list. Yeah, well, you're right of course, it's kinda just a list of the creatures (but it's supposed to be a textbook for Hogwards so I didn't find it weird myself). 1 Shard the Gentleman reacted to this
littleTSUBAME 483 Posted September 18, 2013 I'm glad she doesn't excactly continue Harry Potter, it's better stop when it's still good and people want more. Gladly, I think Rowling understands that. More information from the HP-world is more than welcome though (I wouldn't even be against if she decided to start writing a new series with the same world, but new characters). As for the movie, I'm curious how that will turn out. Of course I'm enthusiasted, but at the same time it sounds a little weird... But I guess that makes me want to see it even more! : D I'll be waiting.

Reyn 1,755 Posted September 19, 2013 (edited) Im looking forward to this. But im still hoping that someday JK Rowling will write a Prequel Book/Movie to Harry Potter, which chronicles the 11 year long First Wizard War against Voldemort(the one that caused the original creation of the Order of the Phoenix) that takes place before Harry's birth and is ended when Harry survives Voldemort's curse. It could easily have Lily and James as the main protagonists, since the original prophecy said that the chosen one would be born to a couple who had survived fighting Voldemort 3 times(Harry and Neville's parents) and we never were really told how they survived and the explicit details of the war itself, so Rowling could easily go into that and make it a masterpiece. Im sure it would do amazingly well. Edited September 19, 2013 by spiderfreak1011
