The wind blew softly over the island. Besides the soft swaying of the trees there was little to disturb the idyllic serenity here. The island stretched out for miles, but at the coasts there was nothing to see but water. The island, like the universe in which it existed, was nearly empty, the remnants of life clung, decaying, to its shores and its trees and its fields, but the yells of excitement, of fear, of courage that has once complimented the sound of the wind ha since faded to echoes. Today, however, that changed. Today life returned to the universe. The only question is; what kind of universe would it return to?

 

"C'mon, get up!"

"All of you, wake up."

"Rise and shine, it's a new day."

 

Far away voices entered the hazy minds of those sleeping on the island.

 

Lying on the shore of a short beach was Seraphim Valentine, Derik Absolon, and Samantha Allison, and Rodin Seefull. The wind blew over them as they lay sprawled over the sand in close proximity to each other. Just as they had been placed. Next to the beach was a mix of jungle and swamp that went deeper into the mainland. Besides that the beach was mostly barren. A wrecked fishing boat was rusted and decaying within walking distance, but nothing more. The waves lapped up on the shore softly...

 

Lying in the middle of an airstrip surrounded by jungle was a different group. Rusted machine parts lay strewn about, and any sign of activity at the airstrip had long since faded. On the ground in the middle of the airstrip lay Alex Dimanche, Ferro al'Vere, and Hazimie Azhar.  Two desolate bunkers flanked the airstrip they were on, with a control tower at the end of the strip. Forest flanked the airstrip on all sides, with a single winding road leading out. The wind cut through the trees and sliced past the bunkers onto the airstrip. Only the wind and the trees provided any sound to the desolate military installation...

 

Deep in the jungle was a pair of rusted jeeps parked next to a crumbling house. The jeeps were long past functioning, and their engines were removed recently as well. The house sat surrounded by the trees with a single road leading somewhere further into the jungle. Inside the house were the four people; Rija Mors, Terry Frost, Henko Tenioenai, Koizumi Onnea, and Rin Nozomi Part of the roof of the house had caved in, and most of the belongings and furniture were gone. Remaining in the house were a few pots and pans, and single picture in an immaculate frame on a table in the room where the four people were laying. Silence pervaded the house...

 

The far away voices slowly awakened all of these people. The clouds in the blue skies above moved slowly; the morning was upon them. It was time to wake up and find the future...

Rodin slowly opened his eyes and sat up.  He looked to his right and saw three other people.  Curious, he thought:  Who are these people?  Did they sign up for the Cryogenic freezing too?  He slowly stood up and observed where he was at.  Even more curious, Rodin thinks:  Are we on a beach?  Shouldn't we be in a lab or something?

Ferro al'Vere heard a breeze through the trees and a voice whispering in his ear, as if from a great distance. A breeze? Wasn't I working late on the D-project? How. . .did I end up outside? Ferro felt cold, as if he had just come out of a freezer. A freezer. That thing he had heard, the day before. Cryogenics. . . Could. . . Could I have been frozen? Ferro looked along the length of his body, and there on his right arm was the D-ppendage prototype, the one he had been testing right before. . .blank. A grey space after that. For the first time, Ferro took stock on the situation. He called up the scan of the area he knew his implant had already carried out. An airstrip, surrounded by forest. Some bunkers. And two other people, lying nearby. Ferro got to his feet, now feeling he also had on the pair of force-nullifying boots he used when testing. What happened to me? And what was that voice just now? He turned and looked at the two people lying on the ground not five feet from him. He flexed the D-ppendage claw. We'll see who they are.

The silence in the cabin was broken be a scrabbling sound as one of the people in the cabin, who had been laying face down, shot up and looked around wildly. Terry Frost forced himself to breath normally and took a tactical look at where he was.

Facts he knew: One, this wasn't the lab he had been hired to look after. Two, where ever he was now, it was most likely abandoned a long time ago. Three, he wasn't alone.

Terry walked careful from his former resting place near the door of the cabin, continuing to sweep the area for danger, over to the other three people with him. He checked their vital signs to see that they were still alive. He noted, with some confusion, that the three people he had with him were subjects of the cryo suspension program. He had read files on people he would be looking out for, as he had been in suspension after the others. He grimaced as he though that would mean they wouldn't have seen him before. Hopefully he wasn't dealing with paranoid people.

Samantha woke up to silence. As she sat up she was greeted with the sight of the wide, endless ocean. To her right was empty beach, and her left the same except for a shipwrecked boat. After shaking the sand from her hair and checking to make sure her belongings were in tacked, Samantha stood up. "Well, atleast I'm not a vegetable anymore" She thought turning around to see the dark jungle, "Kind of weird that we ended up here". The soldier turned her attention to the people laying near her, "Hey you alright?" She asked the other awakened volunteer. She checked the other and they seemed to just be sleeping, "It may be unwise to wake them...". She looked again toward the shipwreck, "Stay here, I'm going to try and figure out where we are" She told the other. With that she jogged off toward the old fishing vessel.

Feeling consciousness come back to her and the sound of voices in er head, Koizumi opened one eye and then the other before darting her eyes around to see where she was. She got up to her feet and brushed dirt off from her hair and clothes before taking in her surroundings a bit more. Even though the time to where she was frozen was a mostly a blur in Koizumi's mind,  she didn't recall being in a cabin for this experiment. She felt a presence and and quickly looked to see two people lying down near where she was but there was a guy that was awake, possibly awakened long before she did. Koizumi said nothing, but just started at him. After a few dead silent moments, she spoke. "And who are you exactly?" she asked rather bluntly

Rin awoke soon after Koizumi. She shook her head, stretching herself around a bit, and realizing she wasn't at home. 

"Where am I?!" that was the first thought in her head. 

She didn't say it because there was someone already awake. Rin moved slowly and quietly away from Koizumi. Rin didn't make eye contact with a single person, not questioning anyone.

Rodin turns to the other already-up person and says:  "I'm fine.  A freezing sleep is no trouble."  As the woman (Samantha) was heading to the wrecked boat, Rodin rubs his head and says:  "Uh, sure?"  He then thinks:  A few minutes here and I'm already taking orders.  Well, I guess someone has to watch over the last two sleepers.  After one minute, Rodin thinks:  "I can't stand around and do nothing!  With that, Rodin gets on the ground doing push-ups to pass time.

Terry stood up slowly, holding out his hands to show he wasn't a threat.

"My name is Terrence Frost." He answered Koizumi. "My friends call me Terry. I'm with LDN, the company hired to provide security for the Cryo Labs."

He looked around at the cabin.

"And before you ask, I have no idea where we are or how we got here. I'd love it if you could answer that question, but I'm not holding out much hope on that."

His eyes feel on Rin.

"Hey, you alright?" He asked her, though wisely stayed where he was.

Koizumi signed as she glanced around the room again. there was still one more person that hasnt awaken yet. "I see." She said, not bothering to look at him agian. "Koizumi Onnea." Her eyes stopped on the younger girl in the room. Koizumi didn't bother to say anything to her, she already that intuition that she did not want to be bothered with. Geez, there's no need to be shy at a time like this, she thought but Koizumi was always one to be direct to anyone so she couldn't relate to the girl

"Noo!! They're staring at me and wanting answers!!!" Rin thought, basically freaking out. 

"R-Rin Nozomi...." she muttered, staring at Terry and Koizumi with blank eyes.

"Maybe they will go away...." she thought with a sigh.

Terry sighed. Well, at least that got her name was out of the way.

"Hey, Rin." He said, in a soothing voice. "I'm Terry. If you need some help, just tell me."

He turned his gaze from Rin to Koizumi, but kept Rin in his peripheral vision. She was obviously not liking the attention she was getting, and Terry needed things calm.

"Onnea." He echoed, trying to place the name. "You're a scientist, if remember the file right."

Koizumi eyes stopped wandering and she looked straight at Terry, her eyes kind of glistening. "Well yes, yes I am." She crossed her arms, somewhat in pride. "But I'm not just any dull scientist, I'm  a top notch scientist at that." Koizumi was about to go more into it about her career but she then noticed something an narrowed her eyes. "Wait...what file are you even talking about?" she asked

Henko's eyes snapped open. "I'm alive." He said bluntly. He jumped to his feet. "Ha! Looks like it worked! I wonder what time it is..." He glanced behind him.

"Howdy, neighbor." He told the man with the strange tool. "Nice glove." He activated Grace, twin blades along his knuckles. "I've got two."

He chuckled and ran into the jungle. "Later, gator!"

Rin gave a small sigh. Good these people were not going to be rude to her and not ignore her.

"I'm going to go look around for you two..." she said, standing up and slowly walking outside of the house.

This place was nothing but woods.

Alexander opened one eye. Then the other. With a quick glance, he gathered his bearings.

Airfield...no. Too small. A simple airstrip. We're either in a small military compound, or an island. Salt in the air and military installations suggest both. He thought, getting up off the ground silently. He wobbled for a moment--whatever had happened to him nearly made him lose his ability to walk.

He swallowed, wincing at the sudden pain. His throat was unbearably dry. Coughing once, he winced again as even more pain jolted through his throat.

Ferro looked up to the sun. Not right at it, of course, but near to it. "Good. . .morning." he said to the man standing near him. The other one had dashed off. Rather headstrong and hasty, that one. Ferro liked to plan his leaps ahead of time. He held out them arm covered by the D-ppendage for the man to shake, grinning. It always made people a little nervous, shaking the thing. "My name is Ferro al'Vere. It seems we may be traveling together, seeing as we are stranded somewhere." Ferro ran a quick scan of the man's sidearm. A regular laser gun, nothing to worry too much about.

A few meters away from Rin the leaves of the nearby jungle began to rustle faintly.

 

Then louder.

 

Soon the sound made something very clear- someone, or something, was very very close to her and the shack.

As Henko dashed headlong into the Jungle he immediately came into contact with some huge slab of metal and was knocked back. It would have only taken a moment to realize it was not a simple piece of metal. When it started to move it became perfectly clear. Soon the entire jungle around the airstrip began to rumble with the movement of the large tanks that surrounded it. Panzers- world war II era tanks, there seemed to be dozens of them, and counting, moving in on the group...

As Samantha approached the fishing vessel it became incredibly clear just how old it was. It must have been on this island for decades if not longer. Pieces had broken off and what remained was a broken mess. A light glinted off of something inside, though. Perhaps there something to this ship after all...

"Security, remember?" Terry explained. "I was suppose to guard the lab and subjects, like you. Got to know who I'm protecting."

His head snapped towards Rin as she went outside.

"Hold up a sec." He called after her. "We don't need to go wondering off just yet. Who knows what's out there."

"At least she seems to be out of the shocked state she was in before." Terry thought.

Alarm bells went through his head as he heard something outside. He rushed outside, putting himself between the sound and Rin.

"Terry.....we need to grab the blonde girl, the other girl who isn't awake yet....and get out of here...." She said seriously, looking as one of the tanks, and many more surround the house.

Ferro detected movement. Not that that was very surprising, considering the sounds emanating from the dozens of tanks rolling in from the surrounding jungle. Ferro looked around. One of their number was still slumbering. Quickly Ferro shot a projectile from his D-ppendage onto a wall of one the the bunkers. He shot a second on the ground in front of him. Scooping up the sleeping man, Ferro lept through the portal and out the side of the bunker. He should be safe here for now. Now how to deal with the tanks? Ferro couldn't lift those; they were too big. They wouldn't fit through portals. Ah. I know what to do.

Terry narrowed his eyes.

"Agreed." He said. "Grab Koizumi, er, the blond girl and I'll get our unconscious companion."

Terry backed into the cabin, keeping an eye on where she sound was coming from. He turned to go for Rija, but stopped when he noticed a back pack. The pack was...important, wasn't it? He grabbed it, slung it on his back and picked up Rija.

Koizumi nodded, indicating that she understood what he was talking about. She was going to say something else but she saw Rin wonder out of the cabin and she felt the ground rumble. Koizumi looked outside of the door to see a tank in the distance coming towards them. Koizumi's mind just went blank, trying to process all of this, before snapping out of it. She saw Terry go past her to get the sleeping girl from the cabin and Koizumi went outside with Rin. "Um...where to go, where to go" she said quickly darting her eyes around, while waiting for Terry to come out with the girl. She still couldnt wrap her mind around why a freaking tank was in an area like this

Alex felt the movements as the ground shook.

The sound and movements...tanks. He thought, looking around. It was obvious that the tanks were heading for his 'group'...though it seemed that his allies has all abandoned him.

He continued looking around, his mind quickly trying to find a way out, if any. He could run to a safe spot...but would he get there in time? He clenched his teeth and looked to where one of the group had vanished to. He sighed, hoping whatever it was would provide safety.
