Noby Raghavan 168 Posted August 30, 2013 So for my English class I'm doing a presentation on KH as a series. (I got permission because my teacher plays the games) Anyone willing to help?First I need a plot graph of each game . (Honestly fairly easy, I can do that part by myself.)Then, I need examples of the following, either in the story, visuals, or gameplay.Motif (repeated ideas, ex. keys, icecream, trios, the power of friendship.)Charactonym, when a characters name means or represents something. (Sora means sky, he is light, simple, and connected to Kairi[water] and Riku[earth].)Themes, or the big ideas of the games.Symbolism, when something means or stands for something else.Foreshadowing, or hints of future events.and any other things that are important. You don't have to help, but thanks if you do! Hopefuly this goes well. 2 gothamninja394 and LeYenrz reacted to this

Deadpool 1,200 Posted August 30, 2013 Wow...your teacher...is a one of a kind. My old English teacher played the first game and said he loved it, and my History teacher who loves Disney says he's interested in it.

Jilly Shears 2,144 Posted August 30, 2013 The only thing I can say that should be touched on but wouldn't be absolutely vital to a Kingdom Hearts presentation would be about Naminé's name origin, since there's so much freaking wordplay behind it. Other than that, though, good luck with the project. I wish my teachers in high school were cool enough to let you do presentations on things that would actually be fun to make a presentation about. AaySquare 445 Posted September 8, 2013 Looks great but seriously lucky you got a teacher like that. Also I have a history teacher who recommended us to play Assassin's Creed
LeYenrz 276 Posted September 9, 2013 (edited) woah. i wish i could go on about a rant on kingdom hearts to my teachers... lucky you! about the project. that's pretty cool. what's your overall goal? to show the detail and beauty of it? kingdom hearts uses a lot of symbolism to explore the range of human emotion and interaction. many terms have been explored such as love, friendship, sacrifice, and bonds. i could go on forever. The disney in the games are just a way to help express these topics even more deeply. symbols that have already existed in the disney universe for years have been used in the games. Even more new symbols such as sea salt ice cream and keyblades provide a lot of imagery and meanings i think anyone can easily get a grasp of, which is what makes kingdom hearts so easy to latch on to. the symbols also have so much meaning, which is quite remarkable for such a simple layout of the items. i think you already know of the ice cream's symbol. friendship. things arent always what they seem. what may seem bitter or salty at first can turn out to something very sweet and treasuring hence that theme can be implemented in rivalries, beginningly awkward friendships. etc. i think that the mixing together of disney and final fantasy style plot is amazing. probably everyone on this forum thinks so as well. and since part of it is disney, its a marketing and emotional tool for the series, drawing more people into the series and helping them relate to the stories. and since final fantasy has mature content, kingdom hearts has some of that maturity as well but toning it down a bit. but it's stlll as powerful as we get to see the powerful stories of separation, unity and emotion of each character. (particularly the akurokushi trio. its my favorite duh). and even though its completely a fantasy world, we can take chunks of each character to relate to. which is another reason why i think kingdom hearts has such a large audience and active fanbase. It's great how nomura also takes the timeless disney themes and uses them with finesse to give sora a lot of depth. and each encounter with each disney character has the ability to bring dimension to the characters they interact with. Not only does it increase our understanding of disney, it does so with the characters as well which is a kill two birds with one stone job. i could say more but i dunno if you'd like me doing so ^-^; i might just be saying all you already know, but if you search around this forum you could learn so much more about the series than i have since i havent even searched the darkest and brightest corners of this site. hope i helped, but if you want me to say more, reply! gothamninja394 92 Posted September 9, 2013 Talk about an awesome teacher Kingdom Hearts has a rather deep story, while at the same time stringing together unique universe made up of two completely different multiverses that would otherwise never collide. Its incredible how Normura managed to put Sora into so many classic Disney stories that we already know in love without messing it up, especially in KH2. My dad was impressed especially with how they can take a scene out of a movie and recreate it in a video game Specifically, the battle between Simba and Scar, and at the same time, he fit Sora into it perfectly
teetee 5 Posted September 16, 2013 I actually wrote a paper on it too for a class. I could always dig it up and check it over. Give some specifics and I'll see if I have the info you need
