1.5 ReMIX is undoubtedly the worst HD Collection ever

Recommended Posts

I'm really not sure was to why people are defending it so much since there's so much I see at fault with it, but everyone is entitled to their opinions. To begin, I think it's pretty lazy. The HD, sure, it does look pretty, but they could have done a much better job. I don't see too much difference, except the eyes and the blockiness. They did go the extra mile though, but not in terms of graphics. They redid the entire OST, which, I think sounds really terrible. There probably won't even be an option to revert to the original tracks. The music is a big issue since now that everything sounds different, the nostalgia value that it originally advertised is diminished. They could easily do it, though, since they're making this collection from the original PS2 versions, but I guess their limit on a 50GB disc is 17GB. And yes, that's actually the size of the game. Some people have suggested that I should just listen to the original tracks on YouTube or just mute the game. I shouldn't have to do that since I'm paying for nostalgia, you'd think I should get it.People say that it's great since we're finally getting it in HD, we're finally getting Final Mix, but you have to realize, they did this on purpose so they could cash in on this later. This collection was a great idea, but they've screwed it over with the lazy HD remastering and the unnecessary new tracks. If you emulate Final Mix on a somewhat good PC and increase the native quality, you'll essentially get better HD than what Square Enix is releasing. Now, why should an EMULATOR give better HD than the actual HD remaster itself? Something that isn't even completely compatible with the game?anywaysi'm done with my rantmake what you want of it

Their limit of disc is about 20gb.

I agree for final mix scenes and for days fights. The rest are all fine for me.

If you want the orignal music or design then get the orignal game. Mayby it iwll be on psn.

If they're going to release it on PSN, why even make the HD collection?

Also, the PS2 Classics for PS3 is an emulator. Not every game is compatible, just some, and I doubt KHFM is one of those.

Also, 20GB is not the limit to blu-rays.

Blu-ray Disc (BD) is a is a digital optical disc data storage format designed to supersede the DVD format. The plastic disc is 120 mm in diameter and 1.2 mm thick, the same size as DVDsand CDs. Conventional (pre-BD-XL) Blu-ray Discs contain 25 GB per layer, with dual layer discs (50 GB) being the industry standard for feature-length video discs.

Oh no sorry I just mean the limit of this game not bluray disc.

I know games of 40gb like Uncharted 3.

Even if their limit was that, that's not an excuse. The OST itself is 300mb, which they could easily add in and incorporate.

Yeh the limit of bluray is not an excuse.

They can let us choose options between final mix or normal.

But I think they are supporting the old version.

The same reason may be for days fights.

HD remasters will NEVER be perfect. NEVER.

You can't expect it to be perfect. It's not even close to being as bad as the Silent Hill collection.

So overall Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX is a good collection.

All HD remasters are disappointing and could be much better, but its great to be able to play classics in a slightly higher definition and in this case with extra content.

Yeah...sorry but Konami had made many glitches and many textures have been changed. I would provide a video of it but if you want to see it just pm me to let me know. It shows all the faults in the collection.

Would i know the difference? i never played the original Silent Hill releases: i just liked the movies, and picked it up because it was 2 and 3, the basis for the second film.

As someone from a PAL zone, when I heard about KH HD 1.5 I didn't give a shit about how it'd look, they could have left the graphics, camera system, and music all the same and just ported it to the PS3 for Europe cause I just wanted Re:COM.  In honesty when I heard remaster I assumed it would have been fully upgraded to CGI-style/FFXIII in-game graphics, where like you'd see Ariel underwater and could see each strand of her hair flowing in the water.  But that's not gonna happen so the graphics don't matter to me.

Look, thing is, I agree it's not a good HD remaster, BUT it's not the worst in my opinion, also I'm happy it released because my PS2 was broken and I never bothered to buy a new one (since they're overly expensive in my country O.o)

The Silent Hill HD Collection is acceptable on the PS3, but it's a nightmare on the 360. It's considered "Broken." Either way, I don't really consider it the worst because I mean hey, at least the original music is intact. At least the HD is good.

I'll save you the trouble of sending him the videos.

Lol. Zone of the Enders. Silent Hill. Devil May Cry. They were awfully handled, it took months for Zone of the Enders to be patched on the PS3 to even be remotely playable. Silent Hill was...let's not speak of it. DMC was just bs.

I think 1.5 has done more than any remaster and I think that is why it is worth a play. Who cares if it is a money cash-in. People complained about the games not being on one unified system, so what did Nomura do? He listened and is making that happen.

It isn't like you have to play it if you are really that upset about it.

I'm sorry that it bugs you so much and you are entitled to your own opinion, but keep in mind that the game wasn't made for you. It was made for other fans of the series that were hoping for something like this (I know I was). Not only that, but it was also made for new fans of the series who've never had the opportunity to play these games in their original formats. To a lot of people, this is going to be their first experience playing Kingdom Hearts, they won't even know what a "Final Mix" is any way. They will be able to form their own opinions, their own tastes, and then base every other installment they come across off of that. I know that in terms of nostalgia value, hearing the music so vastly different from what you're used to would be a real hindrance, but to a lot of people it's going to be nice to have some new elements. I love all of the music from the original game, but if I have to hear the EXACT SAME VERSION of Agraba over, and over, and over, I'm gonna get tired before I even reach the cave of wonders.

If you ask me, this is some of the most apparent effort I've ever seen from the team. Don't forget that they've lost most of the original data for the game and had to start practically from scratch. It's a REMASTER, not a REMAKE. An option to include the original music would have been a nice touch, but if you're so against this game, then play the original one since it seems to satisfy you a whole lot better. It may be a huge disappointment to you, but to label it as the "Worst HD Collection Ever", that's stretching it a bit too thin in my book.

Again, my opinion, your opinion, I'm hoping for somebody else's opinion to come in to blow both of ours out of the water.

I've been waiting for someone like this to come along and disagree with me.But yeah, I would just be playing the game for the nostaliga value, and hearing the music so different just ruins it. I mean, it is originally what they advertised. But then again, I guess it's my mistake for thinking SE could do better.

It is a bit rushed because it started as two people making it (if I remember correctly) then turned into a big production. The fact it was finished at all amazes me, since they had to remake everything from scratch in Final mix, essentially. So, I respect your opinion, but that's not the way I live my life. I like to look at the positives: Final Mix is enough for me, the fact that we're actually getting it is great. Re: Chain of Memories is finally being released everywhere. 358/2 Days is good as it is, I kinda didn't like the combat in Days, so cutscenes are good enough for me. The music sounds beautiful. I love the nostalgia feel of the old tracks, but that's what my iPod is for. So, again, your opinion is yours, but I highly disagree. There have been far worse HD collections.
