I'm MDS Veritas and welcome to the sign ups for my new RP idea; Echoes and Ash. I've had the pleasure of being part of a lot of RPs here and I've even started a couple, and I've spent the last couple months thinking up an idea for a new RP. If the vague text above seems at all interesting, I'd ask you to maybe take a look at the RP brief, and, if you're interested in signing up, just reading the rules and filling out a form. Thanks for taking a look! ---------------- The course of human history has always been a rocky one. The more technology and advancements that the human race creates the more potential for skirting a line of self destruction there is. The year is 2185, and humanity's reach has gone into the stars. Thousands of planets now act as humanity's home. New technologies continue to emerge; exciting, fascinating new inventions that could possibly revolutionize the life of every human. In fact, human-kind seems to be moving faster than ever. Much of this new-found speed is due to the abilities of SAs- the "sentient artificials"- which are human-built software-based intelligences with huge logic capabilities and built to replicate human thought as to work well with the scientists with whom they co-exist. A bright future lies ahead of the human race as star ships roam the galaxy, people live among hundreds of different planets, and the scientific horizons of humanity seem endless. That was 2185. That was 19 years ago. That was when it happened. After coming so far human kind suddenly disappeared in a day without a trace. Trillions of souls gone in a heartbeat. The SAs in service went offline one by one until seemingly all were gone. The galaxy was completely silent, and not a soul knows why. However, for all the humans that disappeared on that day, some still survive. 200 years prior, a project began wherein select humans were cryogenically frozen and they were preserved secretly hidden away from the world. For 200 years the people of the early 21st century slept. They are about to be brought back, and it is up to them to find out what happened to the humans, and what dark force is behind it. They fell asleep in a world of activity and opportunity. They will wake in a world of Echoes and Ash, and they will not be alone. Perhaps not all the SAs went offline... ---------------- Sound interesting? Well then let me give you a rundown of the rules I have in mind and let you get to the character applications if you're interested! First and foremost; have fun! This is an adventure I hope everyone involved can go on, and that's what it should be all about; the thrill of discovery, the thought of piecing together a puzzle of history, and of course the unpredictability of getting to interact with other characters. One character per person. I understand that people like to create their own sets of characters to interact with each other but I'd like to push interacting with other players even more! If your character dies you do have the option to create a new one. This is what I like to think of as a "Miniseries" RP. By that I mean I have a distinct amount of things and places in this RP, it's not going to go on for a very long time and you don't have to dedicate a huge amount of time to it without much of a payoff. As such, if you apply, please try to stick with the RP. Be fair to other players. Your attacks need to be open for possible dodging and for the love all things good, please don't pull the "I teleport behind you" trick in every fight you're in. Make fights interesting, make them fair. There are going to be things you character can't do in this RP, and choices that have no right answer. I'm aiming for a certain amount of people in this RP, and while I think and hope we'll hit that, just so you know there's still a chance I may choose against starting it now if there aren't enough characters. Sound good? Let's go right onto the character template then. The thing to remember, though, is that you're making a character from the present day, they simply wake up in the future. As far as weapons, get as sci-fi creative as you want, and I'll just check to make sure it's balanced enough to use. It was a feeling that constantly bugged her until she graduated from high school, and everything became clearer. She decided to join the military, and she soon realized her natural talent. Feeling much better about herself, Rija applied herself more fervently than she ever had before. She quickly rose through the ranks, and was recruited into a special program. It was as a field agent for the CIA, that she went into many countries on missions of diplomacy and secrecy alike. On her most recent mission, she was gravely, and probably would have perished, if not for being sent immediately back to the US, and after a few emergency surgeries, was cryogenically frozen. When her commander brought up the idea of cryogenic freezing to her squad, they were too scared to volunteer. Sam stepped up to be the representative from the military to try it. With the uncertainty of the future, she left her life behind to hopefully protect those being launched into the future. She's is apart of a well known science department in the country and is one of the top scientist there. She's probably best known for taking risks when it comes to conducting research and experiments, even if it could be life threatening. Those kinds of things didn't stop her and she made some fascinating discoveries as well. When she head about the project that was going on, most of her partners in her research team wouldn't dare want to be crystallized, saying that they had families to go back to and so on. Koizumi didn't care, she signed up for the project despite the warning that she kept hearing from her peers. He was working on a problem concerning what happened when the projectiles hit living matter while listening to the news feed through his implant. Cryogenics. Well, Ferro couldn't just abandon his project. So how did he end up in a sealed case of ice? Appearance: short, mousy brown hair, brown eyes, mid-height, skinny. Ferro possesses a keen intellect and a knack for thinking about problems from a four-dimensional standpoint. This makes him excellent at analyzing how best to proceed through a dangerous area. He can do complicated math in a few seconds. He is also socially inept. Weapon of choice: the result of the D-project, a claw-like device that fits over the hand and forearm. The problem with the projectiles is still there (they cause living matter to be transported to unknown dimensions), so it can be used in battle. The D-ppendage fires projectiles that can envelope objects in a harmless energy aura, allowing the objects to be lifted and moved from a distance by the user. Another setting allows the user to create two linked portals, which can be used by anybody to instantly move from one portal to the other. The portals are orange and blue, of course. A third setting creates a one way portal in front of the user, which can be used to send oncoming matter and energy into other dimensions. The D-ppendage also comes with a set of force-nullifying boots, just to make sure nobody goes splat when they exit portals at high speeds. In addition to these two tools, Ferro has a brain implant which allows him to sense his surroundings. In a passive sense, he can tell if anything is moving around him. He can call up a 3-D image, which only he can see, of the surrounding area. The implant can also display information about technology in the area and display numerical values like velocity and forces. This is very important when timing jumps using the D-ppendage. She is rather antisocial and doesn't want to deal with the world and wishes she could disappear. She has an older brother, Haru, and her mother is at home most of the time. Her father works all day, comes home late at night, and leaves early in the morning. Her distant family she doesn't know a lot about. She learns things hands on and watches people before doing something, especially if it is risky. Rin is a bit afraid to try new things, but when she does she does it quickly. She was fully aware of the things going on around her, yet she close to ignore them. Rin went through her life, becoming really good at online games and taking the code name "Chiko". She should have payed attention to the real world. Now she'll have to face the future. Appearance: Weapon: A sword that can retract into a hand gun. The handgun also is a flamethrower.
