How the hell is RWBY considered an anime?

Recommended Posts

As far as I'm aware, anime refers to a cartoon produced in Japan

But it RWBY's case,it's produced by Rooster Teeth. The same people behind the Red Vs Blue shorts series about the Halo franchise.

I'm not saying it's bad no no no no.I just don't see how is that considered an anime

It's on the same boat as the Last Airbender, they're maybe inspired by Japanese animation, but they're not anime as far as I'm aware since none of them produced in Japan

Kaijudo: Rise of the Duel Masters. I think made in the west, inspired by Anime, it's an ANIME-ESQUE, cartoon. Same boat.

Who the hell cares..?! What matters is whether one enjoys it or not. Like seriously I never understood the stupid debate between "The Difference" Between anime and western cartoons.. Sure, the difference is the style, but in the end it all comes down to preference. Now i'm gonna call RWBY an anime.

RWBY by definition is "anime-influenced" CG-animated web series.  Those calling it anime, have mistaken it for so and spread it around.

In japan anime refers to Japanese animation, in the western world it's specifically specified as Japanese style animation, those being the small girls, tall guys, big eyes, default faces etc

Fool. Wooooooowowowoowoow. An anime is not anime is not a cartoon produced in Japan. It can be. But Anime is short for animation, not for japanese cartoon.

Thank you.

I particularly see that there are a many of styles to all forms or animation as well as genres. Many factors can attribute to the animation, and RWBY is or "has a serious story" that is arguable yes, but the attentions were to be more of a serious or life action to the series and thus the creators if you will chose that style. The same is with manga,

Did you know sometimes an art form can depict a genre? It is one of the main factors that goes into the 7 main genres/categories.

CoroCoro Shounen

CoroCoro Shojo

Shounen

Shojo

Seinen

Josei

Adult

Not this again...

My thoughts exactly.

Who would have thought a simple tag on a thread would cause so much argument? I'll remove it if that will make everyone feel better. As for this argument, I'm afraid it will accomplish nothing but a flame war.
