Reyn 1,755 Posted August 23, 2013 Ive been hearing many mixed reviews about the X games, so i want to know what you guys think about the 2 of them? Mostly ive heard FF X is great, but X-2 is crap, so i want to know what you guys think about them.

EternalReckoning 1,135 Posted August 23, 2013 ff x is great ff x-2 is good x-2 has an epic battle system and some kickass bosses ffx has a boss story boss gameplay and a boss soundtrack.
Jilly Shears 2,144 Posted August 23, 2013 I like X-2 better than X. I feel like X-2 only gets crap about the fanservice-y outfits and the light-hearted story, but honestly I think it's a much funner game compared to X. I'll take an ATB battle system with a diverse class system and a non-linear mission based story any day. 2 HikariYami and griann reacted to this
Shulk 8,623 Posted August 23, 2013 FFX is spectacular, most people hate it just because a certain famous reviewer went and called the game crap in an hour long video series, and the followers wanted to agree. -_- The characters are all great, the story's amazing, the music's good, and the gameplay's very fun. FFX-2 on the other hand... *Shudders* I like to forget that one exists, sometimes... It went from serious, deep storyline in the original X to "lol fanservice time" in X-2. I couldn't make it 5 hours into that one... I might try again when the PS3 version comes out, but for now, I still say that it was one of the worst FF games. I'd still play it over XII, though. 2 Reyn and Ultima Weapon reacted to this

Shulk 8,623 Posted August 23, 2013 Yikes, An FF game being mostly fanservice. Hm. Well, ill still give it a chance. Go ahead and try... You should wait until the PS3 collection though, that way you also get X with it, and don't have to worry about separate copies. I bought both separately on the PS2, now I have to try and sell my copy of X-2 because I didn't like it, and it isn't packaged with anything else... -_-

Marth 338 Posted August 23, 2013 I like FFX...little to none. The characters get annoying somewhat quickly, the only people that I didn't want to outright murder were Kimarhi, and Lulu. The story was good I'll be honest about that. The gameplay...that's where I start to hate it. I love how the battle system works and I would actually say it's very good....except that there are bosses such as Seymour Flux who will LITERALLY use a cheap tactic to kill you (Zombie and Full-Life). I have not completed the game (don't say OH U HAVE NO RIGHT TO REVIEW, because I stopped at Seymour Flux and refuse to restart that damn game) so Idk how much you may agree/disagree with me. I forgot to mention the "leveling system" and I use that term VERY loosely. You use a grid to obtain abilities with the use of AP...I hate this for some many reasons. 1) You get stat boosts through the use of spheres. If you don't have a sphere for a certain stat boost, you won't get that boost which really annoys me. 2)This game has you learning abilities through the same method I told you to get an ability...that makes no sense to me. I mean yeah it is kinda cool, but really it's more annoying that if you don't have a certain sphere you won't get that particular ability. That's all i have to say about the Sphere Grid. The field is just meh. I don't have anything to say about it. Nothing bad, nothing good. Now the soundtrack was good. Very good to be honest. Now I gave you my opinion about FFX FF10-2 is actually one of my favorite games. The characters, I actually like. Yuna may be too upbeat, but she saved the world from Sin without sacrificing herself. Rikku's still peppy as usual. And there's Paine, a new character to this game who is a cold-hearted badass but ends up warming up to the others to the point where she reveals why she's with Yuna and Rikku. Now the story...it's not like FFX where everything was so tense. It's more light-hearted and it feels like it works so well for some reason. Now the gameplay, I love how this game works. It's kinda like an ATB gauge a bit but it's a little different which ties into what I'm gonna say next. There are things called dresspheres which change a girl's current costume and gives her abilities related to that costume, like Thief has steal, Gunner has Trigger Happy, Alchemist has fuse, Samurai has Bushido and so on. You gain abilities by use abilities I think, since it's been a while since I last played this game but I'm still gonna continue. And there's 3 special dresspheres which are actually very powerful, if not overpowered. And now I'll start to cover how the ATB gauge works. The ATB gauge will charge up differently depending on what you do, use an item, your girls gauges charge time is shortened quite a bit, and when you change dresspheres, you will be able to either act automatically or change to another. Some abilities like Trigger Happy will increase waiting time SIGNIFICANTLY, but they're very useful so I guess it's a good compromise. In the field, you use an airship to go to any area, buy items, and rest. You can also see how strong the monsters are through stars (1=weak 5=strong). There are sidequests which net dresspheres, accessories, and I think Garment Grids which are used to equip a dressphere and each one has certain effects mostly when you change dresspheres and sometimes automatically. And I think I covered most of the gameplay aspect of this and now the soundtrack. It's actually somewhat good. I would say the soundtrack is somewhat worse than FFX but it's still good. The OP song is quite catchy to say the least. There's also a concert Yuna performs in that has a song called 1000 Words. The OP song is called Real Emotion by either Jade from Sweetbox, or Koda Kumi depending on which version you have (ENG or JAP). And I think that covers X-2. These are my thoughts on the two games. 2 Reyn and HikariYami reacted to this

Ok first off, about the thing that "If you dont have a sphere for a stat boost you wont get that stat boost", i thought in FF X you can have a character also gain abiltiies by having their sphere grid go through ANOTHER CHARACTERS SPHERE GRID. THat kinda makes it so all the characters can get all the stat boosts and abilities in the game if you grind long enough. O_O So the dress sphere thing in battle, is kinda like that Schema thing that THEY'RE USING IN LIGHTNING RETURNS? Now this intrigues me. Ok, ill give both of them a chance. I have a feeling ill end up loving both of them. Alright, good. I'm definitely getting that when I get my PS3 (Which might take a while, since I've been really sick for a week now, and I just got a new sickness today. -_-). Also, the sphere grid's the reason why there's fanservice... It has a detailed animation for their clothes changing during battle, and a lot of the costumes show off way too much. ._. You mean THEY STRIP THEIR CLOTHES RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU? If thats the case, im gonna get alot of boners when i play it. My computer's a piece of crap and lags out on me sometimes. It's been doing this for the past hour or two. No, the clothes like fade off of them, but it leaves a blue glow to hide the nude-ness. It's still kinda awkward though because they get into poses and crap when they do it, and the costumes themselves show off a LOT. (Geez Spider, you pervert. -_-) I'm fine with a little bit too, but it can get way over the top sometimes. SAO's second arc had a little too much fanservice, too... It wasn't a bad arc, it was almost as good as the first, but dang, that fanservice. (Sugu's magic butt cloud was pretty funny though. )

Ultima Weapon 71 Posted August 24, 2013 I liked FF X, the characters are ok, the music is really good and the story is good and interesting, the battle system by turns is ok, the use of the sphere grid was a little slow at the beginning but actually it was fun how you can choose the path for each character and learn some abilities from other characters or all the abilities if you want to. I didn't liked FFX-2 because of the story (it stinks), and what they did of yuna (a pop singer, come on), but I have to admit the active gameplay was really fun. I really hate the cut-scenes for the transformations of the girls during the battles, good thing is there's an option to turn them off. But hey, I played both games (from beginning to end), when they were released (ten years ago for the X-2, 15 years ago for the FF X), so its been a while since I played them

HikariYami 354 Posted August 24, 2013 X was okay but not as good as XIII or Crisis Core. It was extremely linear, and the battle system was terrible. It was like Pokémon but worse. The characters were terrible except for Seymour and Auron. For example, I did not like Snow at first, but his character evolved (sort of) and it changed my mind. None of the characters in X did that for me. I believe that everything that everyone complains about in XIII is present in X in the bad way. X-2 was meh-good. The story wasn't great but it was entertaining. I liked the idea of Shuyin but it just was not executed great.
