FightTheDarkness 85 Posted August 22, 2013 (edited) So, I've been replaying the series from start to finish and, without a doubt, this was the game I was dreading playing again the MOST. I had only played it once before to get through it and say that I played it so I had the least memory of this game (being that it was so long ago when I had beaten it) and I had the worst preconceived idea of it like a lot of people do (as you know). But, the interesting thing about it is that it has SUCH a great purpose in the series and explaining what's going to happen in KH3 but all of that is comprised of maybe an hour's worth of the game Castle Oblivion/Namine's and Roxas' messages So, this game REALLY did have potential to be incredible just based off of that ending alone, but I think that everything leading up to it was some of the worst KH has ever released. I get how they tried to give it a greater purpose as to why they had to go into the journal and care about Data-Riku and fix the bugs and visit those tedious worlds that we've been to at least 4 times each by now and it was because we had to be strong enough to face the truth and the pain of the people connected to Sora but the tediousness of it is not justified in that explanation as to why they had to do all of that in the first place. But, I have to say that this game despite what everyone says was actually not half bad. It was about 45% bad but the ending to it does do a lot to make up for it. Just curious as to what you guys thought of Re:Coded because it's undoubtebly the game that spawns the most criticism out of all of them. MythrilMagician 6,963 Posted August 22, 2013 Coded would have been better off as a movie, to avoid pointless gameplay similar to what we already have played.
Sora96 17,256 Posted August 22, 2013 Coded would have been better off as a movie, to avoid pointless gameplay similar to what we already have played. It'll be just cutscenes in HD 2.5 ReMIX. 1 FightTheDarkness reacted to this
The Protagonist 332 Posted August 22, 2013 I dunno why people hate on the game so much,I mean it wasn't that bad,the gameplay was still fun although I'd probably buy anything labeled with kh on it.
kingdomlanelover 494 Posted August 22, 2013 The game wasn't that bad... It just relied on too many of the flaws that Kingdom Hearts suffers from like meeting Alice for the 4th time. I agree the ending is great, but they could have just easily put what the letter said at the end of KH2.
FightTheDarkness 85 Posted August 22, 2013 The game wasn't that bad... It just relied on too many of the flaws that Kingdom Hearts suffers from like meeting Alice for the 4th time. I agree the ending is great, but they could have just easily put what the letter said at the end of KH2. That's basically what I'm saying with the exception of the letter thing. I think it worked out a lot better at the end of Coded for two reasons: we were all anxious to find out, and you have to remember that at the end of KH2 we had NO idea about the stories of Roxas, Xion, Terra, Ven, and Aqua so we would've been confused as anything if we heard about all these people and we didn't have a clue as to who they were. It worked better this way in my opinion It'll be just cutscenes in HD 2.5 ReMIX. By the way, is that confirmed or are we just speculating that it will be just cutscenes? I get that it would make sense to have it as only cutscenes because it is very similar to Days in design and especially the system it was on but are we positive they can't make it into an HD game? Elijah Gravenhorst 480 Posted August 22, 2013 I actually played it a lot. It had a more open exploration mode than Days did and actually had a lot of depth to it. There's a ton of stuff to do after beating the game and doing it all feels great, the story is only half the experience and I didn't mind going to the same worlds they did do some really interesting stuff like mixing up the room order in Traverse town and creating a maze minigame type thing in Wonderland. Even the Sora?Mario hybrid parts of the game helped to change things up and keep it unique. I was shocked when I found out how much people hated it. Nathan Hatton 274 Posted August 22, 2013 It'll be just cutscenes in HD 2.5 ReMIX. I hope they make it a legit movie. Nomura made a comment about how he had never thought of doing 358/2 Days as a movie until someone mentioned it to him after they had already done cutscenes and he said that that would've been a lot cooler but it was too late. I would be fine with cutscenes but I hope it's not too late for them to make it a movie! 1 Rob reacted to this
Shulk 8,623 Posted August 22, 2013 Re:Coded was an excellent game, it gets way more criticism than it should. It was a cell phone game originally, people. Be glad it left Japan at all. -_- Also, I really hope it doesn't just get made into cutscenes. The gameplay was by far the best part of it, it'd be a shame to miss out on that. It would be awesome to have full scenes and gameplay. Nomura has regret of days as a movie ya know. But mayby they have just no choice. 1 Shulk reacted to this

I think it's funny that the same people that whine about Re:Coded's story are the ones who want it to only be a movie. If your issue was a story, why would you want that to be the only thing shown in 2.5? -_- The only reason Days was just a movie is because they didn't have time to add the full game. It might have also had to do with the fact that only two programmers were working on the game (Unless some more jumped into the project after a while, anyway). Who knows, 2.5 might have a larger team, meaning more content.

I don't see the purpose in only making it a movie. The game's best part was the gameplay, unlike Days which excelled in story. Re:Coded should just be entirely playable if you ask me. It is not confirmed, just a logical guess. Just like Days, a DS game(meant for 2 screens), it would have to be remade, and just like any remake, it would take longer. They can make it into a game, but wont due to time. Considering if we're getting KH2 Final Mix and Birth by Sleep Final Mix, that is a lot of content in just those 2 games. 『R』 570 Posted August 28, 2013 I dunno why people hate on the game so much,I mean it wasn't that bad,the gameplay was still fun although I'd probably buy anything labeled with kh on it. Probably because of the story. It's story is pointless. But the secret ending and gameplay was what made it good
