I'm a human, not a piece of meat.

Recommended Posts

so i’m wearing a gray summer dress today, right? so i’m walking to this coffee shop near my house, on the street where it is there is a hair salon, nail salon, hair salon and a restaurant/bar then the coffee place. So I’m walking, minding my own business, listening to Marina and the Diamonds as I walk and this late 20s-early 30s man is firetrucking staring my tits like I’m a piece of meat he can goggle at.

what.

the.

firetruck.

I’M A TEENAGE GIRL MINDING HER OWN BUSINESS TRYING TO ENJOY THE REST OF MY EVENING WITH SOME DELICIOUS ICED COFFEE. WHY THE HELL ARE YOU STARING AT MY CHEST LIKE I’M A DISPLAY.

IF YOU NEED ACTION LOOK AT PORN NOT ME YOU HORNY firetruck.

Ugh. Seriously. No matter who you are, what you do, don't look at people like they aren't people. If someone wants to show off their sexual prowess, they can. But if I'm just wearing clothes and walking down the street, minding my own firetrucking business, don't stare at me blatantly, I'm a human, not a piece of meat.
I'm so angry right now.

  I'm sorry to say i have done the same thing on more then one occasion but since im not an old or creepy guy can i place myself in the category of flattering the girl that Winner's Proof mention

Side note in my defense we make so many jokes about staring at the girls boobs where i am that nobody even takes any notice if someone does it anymore the girls the odd time say dont stare at my boobs when that is said all the lads myself included take that as the signal to stare all at once xD

Personally, if a man looked at me like that, as long as he wasn't all up in my face about it I'd be quite flattered...unless he was an old/creepy man then that would be a nono

then again the OP said the guy was in somewhere in his late 20s and shes a teenager, i think thats pretty creepy lol.

I don't think it's flattering for someone to stare at my breasts. I find it unnecessary, creepy and rude.

If you want to flatter me, tell me my hair looks nice, that my eyes are pretty, that I'm funny, that I have a nice smile.

Don't stare at my body like a creep.

If someone likes having their breasts and ass stared at, fine, that's them.

I want to read this but I can't read the crazy font, sorry.

But you're not a woman and you don't have breasts... So you can say you WOULD but unless you get a sex change you'll never really know, as far as breasts go anyways. I know a lot of guys that has when women stare at them like that too.

I mean I'm okay if a guy LOOKS at my ass. Like takes one glance. But staring? That's a no-no. Also another thing I wanna touch up on: even if someone looks like an angel. Even of they're the hottest, sexiest, most ATTRACTIVE person you've ever seen, it still doesn't justify lustfully staring at someone like that. I don't care if it's a creepy elderly man or a sexy young American Eagle model - nobody really wants to be stared at like that. I mean some people might but yeah the majority feel uncomfortable.

We're human. We all have desires and needs but if you appreciate someone's er...assets..., respect that person as well, a PERSON and not as Larxene put it, a piece of meat. Because even if you or somebody says "well I'd see it as a compliment", you have to remember that not every other person would and you have to be considerate and courteous.

But if it boils down to it, if someone simply cannot control themselves and feel like they must stare, then at least do it when the person's not looking, even though that's just as bad.

I didn't read the OP but I can already tell what it's about, and I'm sorry that happened to you Larxene. Some people are just reaaaaally uncomfortable with it, like me. I'm a sensitive bitch when it comes to strangers so I either cry, run away or rarely, snap. xD

I don't think it matters and honestly Ducky sometimes the way you perceive males strikes me as a little offensive. I don't have breasts no but staring is staring. I've been stared at and I sometimes just shake it off with a smile if it bothers me I say "Can I help you?" and that does it.You can't say treat people as people AND go "you don't have breasts it's different." And of course I remember not everyone sees it as a compliment hence I used the word "personally."And no offense but all this coming from you...you bring up your ass like every other day and say stuff like "let me shake what my mama gave me" and then say guys shouldn't stare at you when you go out. That's like me waving a machete at the mall and expecting cops to look away. Not going to happen. You can't have both outcomes in your favor. So yeah :/I don't encourage or support staring at someone who doesn't like it I was just making an offhand, semi-joke comment about how I'd feel in a similar situation.

I said as far as breasts go, not the entire staring thing. I mentioned in my comment (or maybe I left it out, idk) that a lot of my male friends get stared at too and it's not okay for anyone to stare. I mean of course people do it all the time, since we're humans a lot of people can't help it, but some people need to be more considerate. Imo if you're a girl and guys are staring at your breasts it's because they're there, but a lot or guys (at least where I live) don't walk around with their shirts off so it's really hard to find anything to stare at...but what do I know, I don't have enough sex drive to look for anything.I'm just saying that just because someone doesn't mind staring, the next guy might. And Winner, when I bring up my ass I use that as an example. I'm saying I'm proud of who I am and I'm going to wear what I want because it makes me happy, but if it gets to the point where I feel uncomfortable then that's a little rude. I don't stare at anybody since I HAVE no sexual desire, so maybe I really can't know what it's like to stare at a person.People should be able to go outside, wearing what they want and feel comfortable in what makes them happy. But if a person suddenly starts eyeing you with lust when you DON'T want it (like, if you're out shopping or whatever) then that's just rude. I don't want to feel like I have to cover up just because some people can't control themselves; and nobody should feel that way.If I wanted attention (which I don't, since I'm actually a pretty extremely sensitive, shy, anxious, socially awkward person) then I would be going to a place where I could get it, like some nightclub or specific sort of bar scene. But if someone is just going about their own business, trying to have some ice cream or whatever then chances are they're not "looking" to hook up with anybody, or draw attention to themselves.Wear what makes you happy, whether it's based on modesty or showing off your goods and don't let anybody make you feel wrong about yourself. That's what I go by, anyways.

Agreed. Its not so bad if people take a glance or something in my opinion, but when people stare I think its rude and honestly they look like idiots. And also I do find varying ages also count towards creepiness. Im pretty sure if a teenage girl dressed up showing off her ass/boobs its for the attention of other teenage boys, not men of other ages. I dont try to look good for grandmas.

Yeah it's unfortunate I mean I'm one of the people who's like "age is just a number" but that age factor can really play a huge role in it. I know I'm jut an overly paranoid, overly sensitive person, but if I had a child and an older woman/man were looking at them in a sensual way...I'd be highly offended and go super-protective on my child. You figure that an older person ogling you could have kids of their own that are YOUR age, it's just... Just a little weird.

Meh, if a person is just looking, their just looking, right?....But, i'd defenetly be careful around said person.

Never get too close to someone who seems too interested in your more personal parts, espesally if it makes you feel uncomphertable.

Personally I do feel a bit uncomphy, too. But I know i'm fine as long as I don't, like, go anywhere with the person. Like at all.

I know i'm not an object, i'm not gonna complain....the person's just enjoying themself, I guess?

Personally I don't think there's much to eye me for, either way, anyways. xD My boobs are really small.

And I doubt my ass is that big a deal either. You'd probably have to be just a plain flat-out perv like xehanort to get all kinds of crazy ideas over me......or really like me for more than just cute looks.

I'd hope for a lover who see's me as a person. Someone who can be my friend through life, not just a sex partner.

And if I want just friend zone at times, too, they'll be willing to understand that, as well.

:)

Well....just inserted my 10 cents on this one.

^_^;;;

I am sure you would be uncomfortable, just in a different way, if someone chose to just stare at your face for no reason. 0_0 Though I do agree that staring at sexual or sexualized body parts sends the message of "I am horny and your parts look good." And that is just not a fun thing to hear.Though that being said I prefer finding pretty faces to stare at instead of boobs, but I try my best not to stare! Because overall it is staring that is the root of the problem.

Ah ok I can read it now, much better!

First question, was the dress revealing? If it was then I don't blame the guy for looking, but staring is definitely wrong (I think it's unanimous how everyone feels about that here)

I'm not offended if a guy looks at my chest or butt, but not everyone feels the same about this. And I never dress up in super short booty shorts and crop tops either (like a lot of other girls I know -.-), those just scream "I NEED ATTENTION" in my opinion. So I'm moderately covered up in shorts and a shirt, whatever.

But anyway, since this was an older man and you're younger I'd be a bit creeped out too. I wouldn't say he was looking because he "needed action" though haha.

It depends.

If you're wearing something modest and not revealing it's a little creepy, but if your boobs are practically hanging out of your shirt then what do you expect?

That's like a guy walking down the street without a shirt and feeling violated when all the women are staring at his abs.

Obviously staring at people like that is wrong, but if you don't want to be gawked at then wear something less revealing.

Call me unsympathetic to womens' fashion choices but it seems the problem can be eliminated if you just don't wear skimpy clothing.  I'm not a guy but from the rumors I've heard from them, guys like boobs.  Skimpy clothing gives them easy access to cleavage.  I'm not a strong advocate of "people should wear what they want!" because I don't care about clothing or fashion, and I take people more seriously when they dress modestly.  Sure, that's just me, but it means it's hard for me to feel sympathy when girls dress like skanks and complain about the attention they receive.  I'll be sympathetic if the girl is dressing more or less modestly and gets oggled at, but the more skin you show, the less surprised I am when you complain.

Though personally I think everyone should be at least semi modest and not show unnecessary amounts of skin, and for those who think I'm just taking the piss at women, I apply the same rules to guys.

Yeah but still I think people should at least be able to go outside, dressed in what they like and what makes them feel beautiful without having to feel what's the word...like... any less of a human (I can't think of a word, fail) by being looked at when they don't want it. Again, I honestly have no sex drive whatsoever, so maybe I really don't know how it feels to want to look at other people's private areas, but is it really that hard for some people to revert their eyes? To me it's just about some people having self control. But I really can't put myself in anyone who does's shoes, so maybe I just have a hard time understanding it. I'll give in example when I wore something "out of character" for me once. So I was wearing someone that I normally wouldn't, I felt great and yada yada. People looked at my body, but nobody stared. I don't mind somebody glancing at my face, or my hips at all - but being stared at? Really makes me uncomfortable. Being stared at is just way more uncomfortable and nobody should do it at all, whether someone's being modest or strutting their stuff >_< That's why I always yell at my nosy Italian family members for staring at strangers (yes we Italians are loud and apparently some stare a lot). No matter what you're wearing I think staring's just rude, period XDAnd I know this sounds mean but there was this girl in my class last year that would stare at your firetrucking face for no goddamned reason - it made me hate her. I don't think a lot of people like the feeling of eyes on them x_xI do agree with you in the way that, yes if you do wear skimpy-ish clothing then you should expect to be LOOKED at (which I was, and don't mind) but staring is a totally different thing.

Staring is uncomfortable for any reason, and dressing skimpily certainly isn't the only reason for why it would happen, but you gotta admit revealing clothing makes it more likely to happen.  I get that some people just want to wear what they want without being judged, but we judge each other for a lot of other things, too.  I'd do plenty of things if I knew I wouldn't be judged for it, but when you want to function around other people, certain conduct is expected.

People should have more self-control when it comes to staring at other people, but women who wear skimpy clothing make self-control really difficult.  It feels like there should be compromise and self-control from both parties--guys should learn not to oggle others even if they see something they like, and girls should learn they can be beautiful without showing unnecessary amounts of skin.  Pinning the situation entirely on guys seems to be... I dunno... it sounds it's just whining from girls who can't live without flaunting their ass and tits and then complaining about the attention.  Shouldn't there be accountability from both sides of the issue?  That's why I feel so unsympathetic to it, like they're crying that they don't get to do something they want to (i.e. wearing short shorts and tank tops because more clothing somehow equals ickiness).  There's plenty I want to do that I can't/shouldn't.

Eh. I guess everybody's different then. I believe anybody should be able to wear what they want and the only time I bitch about it is when somebody makes me uncomfortable. When it gets to that point then it's just not fair. And I sincerely, genuinely, do NOT care what anybody thinks about me, and I know everybody's different but again I guess I just can't put myself in the perspective of those who do. I know I'm an idiot but damn, am I happy. I guess ignorance really is bliss because I seem to be doing a pretty good job of it :,DI guess it's just the society we live in and it sucks, but I guess people can just do their own thing. Oh well.
