Keyblade Wars (KH3 Multiplayer Idea)

Now before we get started, I know full well that KH is fairly focused on Single Player, but Nomura has tried online capabilities with BBS and a small LAN type connection for Days. He'd really like to incorporate multiplayer that's enjoyable and fans would love to play.Though the story is to be the major focus, as it should be, I'd love to see a huge longevity for this game, which is why Multiplayer should be a final, individual focus once the story's fully drawn out.So here's my idea for the "Keyblade Wars," the title of the selectable multiplayer from the title menu. In the multiplayer, no character should require a level unlock, they're all there for us to select and play as. Each start with their respective original weapons. (Sora: Kingdom Key, Riku: Way to Dawn, Axel: Chakrams, Roxas: Dual Oathkeeper and Oblivion, etc.) We have the ability to play as and individually level up all characters. Each level up unlocks new key chains/gear (Axel in this case can unlock new chakrams and keyblades), magic, abilities, and boosts our basic stats (Maybe outfits as well, as I enjoyed the dual-wield hooded Roxas in Days). There can be an item/synthesis shop for buying items, basic materials, and accessories.Game Modes and Lobbies:In Keyblade Wars, you will be able to play both competitive 3v3 (as a basic party in KH is 3 members) matches and 3 player cooperative arenas against Heartless, Nobodies, and Unversed, as some people are speculating the return of Vanitas.Competitive lobbies can be chosen by level in increments of 5. As you can play in lobbies Level1-5 and so on up to 100. The lobbies lock and unlock for each character as they reach the respective level. This could be held to keep fair and balanced gameplay between players.You can also play cooperative on one of four difficulties. (Beginner, Standard, Proud, Critical) The players work together to fend off waves of enemies. Also in cooperative, the level difference shouldn't matter as you're working together, but you can gain levels this way as well. If you're not a fan of competition, cooperative will be the best choice for you.Challenges:Those looking for a challenge, could reset their level to one with Zero EXP attached and some of their abilities remaining. Previous unlocks aside from abilities will stick around so you dun have to re-unlock them. Stats however will be reset to the Level 1 basic stats to fit the Zero EXP theme.That's my idea so far.Would you play it if it were incorporated? Is there anything you'd add on to it? Would you like to see this on disc with it, or as DLC after the disc release with just Single Player?

Like 1v1?Or free-roam like Red Dead Redemption?I'd actually prefer free-roam myself, but I'm a bit sceptical about how it'd work so there's the above idea instead.I should also note that Zero EXP users can play in any lobby Level 50 and up as it'd be the range of challenging difficulties for them to take on.

I actually like everything you said :) but one thing is, if we have all the characters unlocked at the beginning doesn't that kinda ruin the fun of unlocking characters? i mean how bout it starts out as sora and you unlock skins to change the look and make it so its riku or roxas or whatever? Thoughts?

Well Vortex, I never liked unlocking characters in most games that did this, nor did many others. But maybe there could be something like that. Maybe we could have special Level 50 characters that require you to take on Zero EXP and complete certain objectives under Zero EXP.

I think you should create your own keyblade user, kinda like in chi, but have abilities that are similar to in the campaign (eg: have an Axel class, a Riku class etc). Make it so that you can change the appearance of the face, hair colour etc, and have unlocks which make your character look more like the actual characters. Just my thoughts (I've been thinking about this since KH2). Customizable keyblades/weapons are a necessity too. It would probably be too much work for the team, but hopefully they'll trial the concept like you said before making the more in-depth game that it could be (if it's popular).

That would be sweet, but I want us to be able to pick our favorite character to use, as well. Like if Mickey or Kairi aren't playable in the story, they should be one of the many characters we can use in multiplayer. It's probably too much to ask for this, but I want them to add every character in existence (that has a weapon) to the collection. Such as all the Org. members, all variations of Xehanort, Mickey, SRK, VTA, Vanitas, Roxas, Xion and Lea. This way, everyone can play as their favorite character whenever they want.

 

I just want to know what it will be NOW. lol

That's how I feel about it. I would probably choose to play as Roxas and Kairi if this were the direction Nomura would plan to take the multiplayer in. But we should be allowed to play as our favorite KH characters altogether. Of course, you'd have to choose a Light/Hero and a Darkness/Villain to play as, due to the fact that you can't just keep playing as one side or the other every match. Though I'd love to see a FFA mode in the game too. 6 players all for themselves in a clash to be the last one standing.

Hm...maybe it could be like Uncharted 3, you have a Custom Light/Hero and a Custom Darkness/Villain you could choose as well, but unlike Naughty Dog, Square could provide a better customisation for the custom characters and the DLC could add to that.

Or there could be both ideas. Every character I listed to choose from, along with a "customize your own character" option. That way, everyone would be happy. I'm sure LOTS of people would RAGE if they didn't add the option to choose their favorite character to play as: Including me...lol. I just want to play as Mickey (longer than 2 minutes for ONCE) and Kairi, if they aren't playable in the actual story. And even if they are, it would be cool to just fool around with them whenever I want. And there's an extremely easy fix to the problem of having multiple people with the same character. All they'd have to do is make you choose your character before you enter a game lobby, and it picks 5-6 people who have all chosen a different character than you. Done. And there's going to be MORE than enough people using this feature for it to find people fairly quickly. I just don't like the idea of not being able to use our favorite characters. Customizing your own character is fine, but that being the only option?...No. With the newly updated graphics, it'd be way cooler to use the other characters, as well.

 

Edit: It'd be pretty cool if even with the actual characters, there was customization with them as well too. Like let's say the higher your rank is, the more outfits, keyblades, and different things to make your character more unique from everyone else was added.

 

Probably none of this will actually happen, though...It kills me we have to wait so long. -_-

I see large vibrant maps and multiplayer under the Kingdom Shader in our future either way.I just can't wait to see what Nomura will show us for MP. I'm excited for the single player and will definitely complete that first, but I feel more excitement for the multiplayer than I do anything else. It's exciting to have these large ideas for multiplayer and knowing Nomura will work a multiplayer in somehow makes me really wanna see how it'll work out, what's up his sleeves for it. Can't wait for TGS!

I'd like to see it be based off the original keyblade war. We should be able to create our own warrior, choose the side of light or darkness, and be able to have fights like in Dissidia, except with more than 2 people. There could be FFA matches like in God of War Ascension for example or you could be on a team & have a actual war of light & darkness. Another game mode could be like king of the hill, and it could be whoever holds the X-blade the longest. It could be called: King of the Hearts instead! Or they could just ruin it & give everyone a gun and make it a FPS, that never fails....jump on the bandwagon of successful multiplayer KH. -_-
