Wouldn't it be nice if the entire world spoke one language?

Recommended Posts

Well as the title said, wouldn't it be nice?Espically for gamers(or people wanting to go to other countries but do not understand the language),we would finally be able to get all those japan exculsive games and you wouldn't have to learn any language in shcool so less subjects = less work, horray for everybody!I don't really see 1 negative at all.Except I guess translators might lose their job and well you can't talk shit about someone in other language xD but seriously I wish this would happen.I don't realy care what language would be the main one since everyone would probably have to learn it although if this were to ever happen it would probably be english but I don't mind since I speak it lol.I wouldn't mind if i had to learn another one either. What are your opinons on this and do you see anything like this happening in the future?

To me the next best thing would be if translators like google translate would have better translatons that are accurate and if and I'm not sure if this has happened already but um.... how do I say this...voice translations, you know it would translate what the person said for you and everyone should have one and be widespread like cellphones,I guess it could be linked over a network and it would have something like phone numbers and it was like a headset(so when you talk it could hear you probably) so if you had some "translation number"It would translate what that person said and then and then send it over the network so you could understand and I guess it would have some form of universal way letting someone know you want their translation number or something like that.Oops looks like I got carried away there hehe....anyway what do you guys think about my theory?

On Qi they said that it's believed the language of the future will be Panglish.  Panglish is the slightly off English, foreigners use when they are learning the language.

"In the future a standard english will persist around the globe but it is likely that local variations will flourish too. . . . The English language, or portions of it, may be thought of as the essential component in a range of dishes to which flavours and ingredients have been added."

As the new language takes over, "the" will become "ze", "friend" will be "frien" and the phrase "he talks" will become "he talk".

Language is primitive compared to telepathy.

Oh god this sounds terrible. And it sounds incredibly lazy so, it makes sense that we drop off an extra syllable or letter.

I like different languages though.

Also, sort of irrelevant to this topic but this is a pretty neat video:http://youtu.be/Vt4Dfa4fOEY

I've also thought of that once, and I really wish that would happen. It would make things a lot more easier in lots of ways

There is Esperanto, a language created to try that if i'm not mistaken. But no one uses it...

But the huge problem is: which language would it be? It's not like we can just give up hundreds of years building unique languages and our own culture. I do think we should have a language the whole world knows, so communication world wise would be made easy, and national languages would persist. We could use Esperanto xP

There are many languages besides the spoke ad written word, if one can choose to take up the language of a "human" than there would be no need to have to worry about a so called universal language.

Speaking Human: factors into the languages from the heart, soul, spirit, mind and, entity into all actions ad acts

Then the spoken and body languages follows. Being well at this allows the existence (in our case the human) can communicate efficiently without just a use written or spoken words. This language can be learned by anyone, and is very rarely taught, for using comes from the individuality of the person.

I shall keep it short, but that is a faction of my opinion to whether a universal "language" is good or not.

If anything, it would be English. Although Mandarin Chinese is the most known "first" language, pretty much everywhere in the world people use English as a secondary language or at least teach it. That's all thanks to how firetrucking huge the English empire was.

EDIT: Also, as a side note, every time I hear Esperanto mentioned, I think of

, but I digress. Edited by Jilly Shears

I'm not....I'm not looking forward to that. Hopefully I'm no longer around when that happens. xDD

They said it will take 100 years before we reach that stage xD

If it's any consolation, it's the opinion of some that fixed definitions of words in association to a definite article or physical representation no longer applies, and that many of our words are arbitrary or devoid of meaning, making it so that there's actually several mini-languages within a single language. In fact, it could be argued that, given how each individual human being finds different meanings or interpretations of words, that every one has their own language.

And if everyone has their own language, than in a bit of a paradox, we are all speaking the same language: the language of individuality and arbitrariness.

I'll be dead by then! Posted Image

Unless if advances in medical technology lets you live that long or longer.

Honestly what I see happening is that most people learn two languages, their native language and the global language. But eventually their native languages would die out just because why use it when everyone can understand the global one? Though I guess that is basically what Qi was stating.
