Aqua Helping the Darks?

Recommended Posts

While I don't think that Aqua has nearly enough personality for a heel turn, I think the concept of giving into despair is a neat one. Just giving up and losing hope is actually a really good piece of motivation for a drastic character change. The themes of Darkness include despair, anger, and playing on pre-existing fears, and if Aqua were to be perpetually denied any signs of hope, it would possible that she cracks.

The best example I can think of this is Denethor from Lord of the Rings. Denethor, in spite of his questionable parenting skills, is essentially a good person who has spent his life trying to keep Gondor from falling apart. But then, he makes the mistake of looking into the palantir, and sees the might of Sauron, and realizes that there is no chance of victory. So he gives up. He becomes a bitter, angry man, who won't fight to save Middle Earth because he doesn't believe there is any point in trying.

The same could happen to Aqua, where she can see how great the Darkness is, realize that her life's work is a lie, and in an attempt to ease her suffering, use the Darkness to try and bring about a final ending. Because why not?

I sorta imagine an Aqua that gave up as a well-intentioned extremist.  Even giving into the darkness doesn't make me think she'd be actively malicious in her actions, just cold and for motives contrary to her previous motives and identity.  She won't be another Vanitas (for her own good as a character).

Everything she fought for screwed her and her friends over.  Her master is dead, her home is destroyed, one best friend is in a coma and the other was possessed, and she has no discernible way of getting any of it back.  Her wandering around the Realm of Darkness was her clinging to that distant hope that one day she'd return, and she made a pretty good run of it.  But if she didn't... well, what has fighting for light gotten her thus far?  Why not give darkness a shot?

I think that'd make a great story and I actually wouldn't mind seeing that. If she did give in to darkness though I think her situation would be similar to Riku's. But I don't think it's gonna happen.

It's an interesting concept but I doubt it'll happen because Aqua has given so much to fight the darkness including sacrificing 10 years from her life just to save a friend from turning into a pawn of the darkness!!!

By diving head first into the darkness herself.  She has spent 10+ years surrounded by nothing but darkness and monsters.  All it will take is something as simple as dropping and breaking her little star charm to snap her psyche.

Maybe, but in my opinion it's not that simple!!!

I don't think that she will "join the dark side". Whe can find an hint in the:

Secret final of DDD: she is in the realm of darkness and she smiles. I know, that's not so important, but smiling means that she will come back from the RoD.

But didn't she cry in Blank Points when Ansem talked to her about Sora and stuff?

Blank Points are just that blank points.  The exact same cutscene shows Ven and Terra just chilling out in a world that doesn't exist anymore.  The entire cutscene was an homage to Sora to reinforce that the game was a prequel to the events of the original and that Sora is going to have to save them.  The scene didn't actually happen.  It was just for the players, to spark nostalgia and hope for the future.

The keyblade that she had was given to by eraqus is now with sora, as we saw, that could mean three things,

1: aquas given it to him to protect riku, the promise that sora made in BBS to her

2: she has given up to the darkness and it has made it's way to xehanorts home world,

3: it was used as a message to tell sora has FINALY become a keyblade master and this is the first job for him to do

Or... You know... Nomura be trollin

4. Its a teaser trailer to pique your interest.  The game is barely started and they thought it would be cool.
