dusk 910 Posted July 21, 2013 Honestly Caius is really easy to beat. Just throw some debuffs and buff your characters and go all out on him, or use diversity to keep yourself safe. If you can't defeat him you are most likely under leveled

juma086 263 Posted July 21, 2013 (edited) Hooooo boy. This was the first time i got a game over in this game. The Caius battles are tough. Make sure you have combat clinic (med/med/sen) and relentless assault (rav/rav/com) you'll be doing a lot of Paradigm Switching. First make sure you have a synergist who can buff you up well. When you have all the buffs, go to relentless assault and pound him. Switch to combat clinic when you need to heal. Try to switch to a paradigm with two sentinels when he uses Blast Wave. The tough part is when he casts Regen on himself. You kinda have to power through it and kill him before he can heal. Idk if you have poison yet, but if you poison him it will cancel out the regen. Keep this in mind because you fight Caius A LOT. There is also a strategy that is guaranteed to work but takes FOREVER. You can keep spamming the wound spell on him till his max HP is a quarter of what it used to be and kill him in one stagger. I don't think you'll need in in this battle but it always works. Expect to get 0 stars with this method though, because like I said, it takes forever. Keep this strategy in mind, it helps in all of his battles. Anyway, let me know if this works. If you tell me what you're having problems with, I can go further in depth. I'll do you best to help you through this. EDIT: You don't have SYN or SAB yet. You should definitely get those ASAP. Just keep leveling up till you have them. Edited July 21, 2013 by juma086

Reyn 1,755 Posted July 21, 2013 How do I defeat him? Well first off, what monsters do you have at your disposal? It would help alot if you had a synergist monster and a commando one.

Just take your time, remember his pattern of attack ...and build an appropriate strategy Yeah, paradox caius was so hard. The first few times i fought him were too difficult. It was made worse by the fact taht i kept casting buffs on myself, since i thought it would increase the parameters of the buff, like in Earthbound, when really only one cast was needed and i didn't realize that until i played the original XIII. :| When i maxed out Serah, the fight wasn't as hard, but still, CAIUS IS F.UCKINGRELENTLESS. Seriously. At least in the Lightning DLC Ending, Lightning is on par with Caius, especially thanks to the Sentinel(or Knight role) having a block move that completely has every attack Caius does to you do no damage at all. But when you fight him as Serah with the paradox scope, he is pretty hard. I eventually said screw it, and i put the difficulty to easy to beat him. I can probably beat him now on Normal because im alot better at RPG's then i used to be. Also a question. How hard are the DLC fights? I heard Level 99 Valfodr is the hardest of them all, but what about the others? After i get Ni No Kuni Wrath of the White Witch, i plan to buy the DLC fights, so i want to know if they're actually a challenge or not.

Reyn 1,755 Posted July 22, 2013 (edited) Have fun with Gilgamesh. I'll try to help you if you need it. Thanks, so far i havent found a strategy to beat him. He can't kill me, but i can't kill him because HE KEEPS FUDGING HEALING EVERY CHANCE HE GETS. I was so angered that I REFUSED to let the game win,I insisted to beat Caius on Normal and I did it...and it was satisfying as hell. As for the DLC fights.......Jill Nabaat,Lightning and Amodar were easy. But Gilgamesh was absolute NIGHTMARE Jill Nabaat was difficult at first, but that's because i didnt realize if i spammed Ruinga in a cerberus paradigm with Serah IT DESTROYS THE MONSTERS AND NABAAT, When i realized that it was SO MUCH EASIER. Lightning and Amodar were really easy. Pupu was a little annoying, but easy. Then came firetrucking Ultros and Typhon. OH MY F***ING GOD THEY'RE HARD AS SHIT. TYPHON IS SO ANNOYING. It took forever to kill him, but i finally did, and used the cinematic action to smoke out Ultros. I was so satisfied when i beat him. It took me like 7 tries. I ALMOST killed Snow, thanks to finding out if you provoke him with a sentinel and he uses a move called "Chll OUt" before he charges energy when he does the "HERE WE GO" action, then it prolongs him charging it, and he has to start charging it again. It gives you time to stagger him. I GOT SO CLOSE, he only had 1,000,000 HP left, one more stagger wouldve killed him,i was at 350% in chain meter, and hten he fully charged and used the Punch to one shot everyone. -__- GOD DAMN IT SNOW. Luckily, next time i play the game I WILL USE THE STRATEGY IN THIS VIDEO TO BEAT HIS ASS FAST: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ApEVuy9pMjg YOU SHOULD USE THIS STRATEGY TO BE SNOW, METAL SNAKE, IT MAKES IT SO EASY. YOU JUST NEED TO GET THE LIGHTNING REQUIEM OF THE GODDESS DLC AND GET COM LIGHTNING OR GET CHICHU, AND GET RAVAGER LIGHTNING FROM THE COLISEUM. ALSO, if you haven't already, GET THE LIGHTNING DLC. ITS SO FUN. Caius is as strong as he was in the Paradox battle with Serah, but LIGHTNING IS AS STRONG AS HIM, AND YOU LEVEL UP IF YOU WIN OR LOSE. It's REALLY FUN. And you can get Commando Lightning as a monster by doing this. You could technically get her at the start of the game now, and use her through most of the game, and you'd destroy most enemies with her. I find it really strange that all Caius battles were really easy for me compared to other battles, not saying that there was any really hard battles but anyways ._. The paradox Caius battle when you fight him with Serah alone is pretty difficulty since he's relentless, but he's easy to do damage to though. You have to beat Caius and get to fight his Bahamut form. Then you need to get 5 STARS ON THE BAHAMUT FIGHT. That unlocks the secret ending of the DLC where it shows Lightning waking up in the future, and it also gets you Lightning as a commando monster. The easiest way to get 5 stars on the Bahamut fight, is to Use Level 9 Lightning and kick Caius's ass. DONT USE LEVEL 10. As Overpowered as it is, if you use it, you always GET NO STARS IN BATTLE BECAUSE YOUR SO OVERPOWERED. Use Level 9 Lightning and get 5 STARS ON THE BAHAMUT BATTLE, AND YOU GET ONE OF THE BEST COMMANDO MONSTERS IN THE GAME. Your welcome fellow XIII lover. But yeah i agree, its annoying that the DLC is pretty much clears up alot of the ending already in the game, yet you HAVE TO BUY IT. It should be in the game itself already, same goes for Sazh's story, kinda. The DLC Fights and costumes and weapons are the only things that should be DLC, not the Story parts. Thank god Square learned from there mistake and there won't be any story related DLC in Lightning Returns this time. Reyn 1,755 Posted July 22, 2013 (edited) Thanks I always though I should use level 10 ....no wonder why Caius was a joke on Lv10 because I was insanely overpowered. As for Lightning Returns, they won't put a story DLC since it's the last game in the XIII trilogy. Speaking of Lightning,I reaaaaally want her in Kingdom Hearts 3 True. I REALLY WANT LIGHTNING AND THE XIII CAST IN KH3 TOO!!! They probably will be, since Square loves Light, and its the most recent FF game besides XV, whose cast will automatically be in KH3 since Nomura made it. Not to mention, Xehanort used time travel to get the XIII darknesses to show up, and Serah and Noel know all about time travel, so they could be of use to the KH crew in terms of telling them how it works and that crap. Also did you hear? LIGHTNING'S GONNA BE IN FINAL FANTASY XIV REALM REBORN. Not as a Costume, but the REAL LIGHTNING WILL BE IN THE GAME. She'll actually affect the plot of that game. Right now, we don't know if this is an alternate version of Lightning like in Dissidia, or if its the real version of her taken from the XIII universe. If it turns out she's the real Lightning from the XIII game, I REALLY REALLY REALLY hope she was taken from the time period in which she was crystallized. That way, she's guaranteed NOT TO GET KILLED IN THAT GAME and THAT WAY SHE CAN PROBABLY GO BACK TO HER WORLD. Then when she's done with helping the heroes in that game, she is sent back to her universe and continues to be in crystal stasis until LR FF XIII happens. I want Lightning's story to end with Lightning Returns, and not for it to end with her getting pulled to another universe and dying there alone. That wouldn't be fair, since all of Lightning's loved ones would never see her again. Not to mention they'd have to go on ANOTHER JOURNEY TO BRING HER BACK, AGAIN LIKE IN XIII-2. That would be horrible.
