xxClouDxxmoon 901 Posted July 19, 2013 The FF series really stuffed up with XIII. Alot of fans disliked XII, mainly for its difference to previous games, and everyone thought XIII would restore order to the franchise. Though, as it turned out, XIII was disliked much more, and alot of people disliked what Square Enix had done to the series, and thought it was the end of good games for FF. But do you think FFXV will bring back that spark that made so many people love the series? I mean, by all rights FFXV is completely different to previous titles, more so then FFXIII. But do you think this game will bring back the strong fanbase FF once had? Although alot of fans jumped ship with XIII, quite a few of newcomers to FF (XIII being their first game) have grown to like FF. I think XV will bring a new generation of FF fans, mainly because of how different the gameplay is, and because hopefully most KH fans will also take interest. Even though veteran FF players may also dislike XV, I think this game has the potential to not only be a great FF title, but become as renown as FFVII, because honestly I think FFXV has the potential to become one of the greatest games of all time. 4 griann, Setrex, Imoore4 and 1 other reacted to this
Demyx. 10,064 Posted July 19, 2013 I've played Final Fantasy since I was a kid. To me XV looks amazing. I am super pumped to play that game. More so than Kingdom Hearts 3 actually. 4 Rob, Setrex, baptiscool19 and 1 other reacted to this
Sora96 17,256 Posted July 19, 2013 People thought XIII would restore order? Final Fantasy has always been going strong. X & XII were fantastic games. I'll admit I didn't enjoy XII, but I can recognize that it's a great game. Oh well if a few fans didn't like XIII's gameplay. I like many others love FF XIII. Every Final Fantasy game receives great reviews from all the major reviewers and sell great. Square Enix has done all they can to appeal to everyone, but it's impossible to appeal to everyone. 3 Reyn, Oblivion25 and Imoore4 reacted to this

Well fans thought after complaining about ffxii, ffxiii would go back to how Final Fantasy was. But it didnt.Honestly I wouldnt dislike XIII as much if they just didnt make it as as a FF game, it should have been a new franchise, or as I have said many times before, a movie. Though without the FF name to back it up, XIII would of definately failed and it wouldnt have had 2 sequels. The main thing is FF games nowadays are not the same games anymore. They are completely different. And alot of fans hate these games just because they are not like old-school FF. Alot of fans havnt played XIII yet hate it because its different.Im a long-time FF fan, and although I hate what SE has done to FF I will still play and judge new FF games. I didnt mind XII, but I hate XIII. Not because its different to other FF titles but because I really dont like the game for what it is. But I still played and finished XIII, I played XIII-2 but didnt end up finishing it, and I will most likely be getting LR aswell. The point is, FF will never return to how it was, and honestly that saddens me, it truly does. But I will always, ALWAYS, give new FF games a chance. And even though XV is still not a true FF game, I believe it will still be one of the best games ever made.

The_eternal_nothing 586 Posted July 19, 2013 If its done right it could be the best game ever which would also lead to an ff7 remake because they'd have something better than 7. But if they do it wrong it could just be another dirige of cerberus trying to do something amazing and it turns into abig let down
Setrex 1,031 Posted July 19, 2013 XIII was a major disappointment to me as a fan. I don't even hate it because everyone else does I genuinely hate it because the characters (beside Sazh), the story, the gameplay just everything about it was awful. Ok, maybe not the graphics though they were great. Final Fantasy XV has all the potential to be a fantastic game and I for one cannot wait to play it. I don't like the so called "veterans" of the series slamming the game though because it isn't turn-based. It's the same group of people that criticised SE for not releasing more information on Versus XIII and demanding more of the game to be seen and then when they do see it they hate on it because it's not turn-based at its name got changed. After all the main draw for Final Fantasy is the amazing characters, the great storyline and fantastic music that people love. The gameplay for me comes last but for XV it looks like a lot of fun. However maybe I'm a little biased towards XV because it resembles the gameplay of Kingdom Hearts a series which I obviously like I think XV will restore faith in the Final Fantasy brand and heck even A Realm Reborn is easily fixing the mess XIV made to it. I trust Nomura and his team to make a great game and he's been at SE for a very long time so I think he knows what he is doing. As long as Toriyama stays away from XV then all will be fine, imo. 1 xxClouDxxmoon reacted to this
juma086 263 Posted July 19, 2013 I think XV looks amazing. Nomura has yet to disappoint me. Everything he worked on turned out really cool. Definitely a day 1 buy. I know i'll like it, but will everyone else? I seem to be one of the few who liked all the ff games (including XIII) but I just hope the mass majority of the ff fanbase enjoys it. Pangoro "Sen" 445 Posted July 19, 2013 I myself was a bit skeptical at first with how much more different FFXV was than even FFXIII. Seems they completely ditched the ATB Gauge at this point. However, looking at it again now, I prefer Live Action RPGs rather than Turn-Based, despite the fact that FFIX was my favorite FF game. Anyways, the point is that I'm actually excited for FFXV. However, I'll wait a while before actually getting it.
AntonioKHT 449 Posted July 19, 2013 When I saw FFXV I was really surprised. I wasn't expeccting anything special, but that blew my mind. I'm sure it will create a new genertion fo fans, and I also expect the veteran will like this. It's really original, and different, but something that seems to atract all sorts of fans. Dave 5,715 Posted July 19, 2013 I'm torn on XV. On one hand, I get that they have to try something new, and in fact I respect when game franchises do. It keeps things fresh and makes every title worth playing. I actually really liked XII's gameplay because it dared to be different, and in making XV more action oriented, I think they'll have a good chance in getting more of an audience then it already has: given the abundance of action games now, I believe that more gamers are inclined towards fast paced button mashing than the strategy and slower pacing of the turn based past. So I think they're on the right track with the gameplay. The problem I have is with the design. If they're trying something new with the gameplay, they are definitely not doing anything revolutionary with how the game looks and feels, or the characters. The washed out, monochrome color style with heavy industrial/modern background is in nearly every game now, as is the hyper-modern style of the characters, from their clothes to their hair. Frankly, I think it blends in with so many other games that it doesn't look unique enough to be differentiated from any other action RPG that has come out in recent years. When they did the same sort of design with VII, it was new and revolutionary, because that sort of art direction hadn't permeated mainstream gaming. Now that it's the norm, I feel that they're almost stagnating. Also, pet peeve: Noctis's eyes change color. There is nothing I hate quite so much in any kind of art or medium. It's a pointless quirk that is thrown in because someone somewhere thought it was "cool." It's not. Seriously. Never do this. This certainly won't sink the game, but it's one of those things that drive me nuts. 1 Zola reacted to this

Anyone who's a KH fan and also likes FF will probably like XV. I'm sure of that, since Nomura's making it. As much as i hate to admit it, it looks like XV will be miles and miles better then XIII is. The thing that really crippled XIII was how people thought it would restore order to the series, and how some people can't accept change with the series and didn't like the gameplay. Then Square made the stupid move of making most of the original XIII linear, that was really bad, even if it was to make the story better. XIII-2 went in a way better direction, but people still don't like it because of the characters and gameplay. Well fans thought after complaining about ffxii, ffxiii would go back to how Final Fantasy was. But it didnt.Honestly I wouldnt dislike XIII as much if they just didnt make it as as a FF game, it should have been a new franchise, or as I have said many times before, a movie. And even though XV is still not a true FF game, I believe it will still be one of the best games ever made. Some people hate it because it's different, and that's a stupid reason to hate it if you haven't even given the game a chance. If you have tried it and still hate it, fine, that's a valid opinion. But if you don't even try it, how will you know if you'll even like it at all? THere have been many things ive seen at first that i thought i would end up hating alot, but then when i gave it a chance and tried it out, i actually ended up liking it. If people don't give certain things a chance first, then that's their fault and loss, since they might've end up liking it when they tried it out. Point is, some people can't get used to change, and either don't try the games because they're different, or try it and hate it for being different. Some of those people would rather have every game be the same in terms of gameplay and story, and that gets really stale and boring after awhile. That's why Square changes each numbered title to make it different then the last, to keep it fresh. I agree with most of what you said. You have many valid points. People who didn't like XIII will probably like XV anyway. I just really REALLY HOPE that XV doesn't end up becoming like XIII in the way that people don't like it because of its story and characters. The gameplay will definitely be good, since it's like KH. Edited July 20, 2013 by spiderfreak1011 1 xxClouDxxmoon reacted to this

Squall Leonhart 49 Posted July 21, 2013 Well some people say 15 is going to go too far away from it's roots however if you ask me the series has been away from its since 10. i've been with series since 7 i've played some of the older ones and loved them as well. i thought 12 was decent game not very memorable but good nonetheless. 13 straight up disappointed me and i haven't bother'd to pick up any of the sequels, i may be done with the series completely if it wasn't for tetsuya nomura working on 15, i have high hopes for 15 i believe he can make it amazing
