Did You Ever Win That Race Against Riku?

Recommended Posts

....nope T___T I had know idea what I was doing and took the longest way possible....Riku was sitting at the finish line, waiting. If only I didn't fall off the wood plank...or constantly miss the treetops *facepalm*

Eventually, yes. After restarting my PS2 tons of times after losing.

You could have used soft reset, R2+L2+R1+L1+Select+Start. It is in the game's booklet. D:

But I have done the same with soft reset...

You know Riku does the same moves.

About the race you can just walk left instead of jumping the palm trees. Very easy.

I lost. BADLY. I didn't even remember where to go and I didn't know the shortcuts. I feel off the bridge when the plank fell, and i fell of the palm tree's because I was rushing. It was embarrassing

No I never managed to beat him. I'm rubbish at racing games, however I got my own back by beating him in the fights :D

Haha, same here.  To this day I still can't beat him in that race. And I doubt I'll be able to do it once ReMIX comes out.  I'll give it my best shot, though.  :P

I have a couple tips, don't bother climbing the ladder, the thing at the top rarely works perfectly. So at best it is a wash (time wise). I have never bothered jumping on the trees for my way there. So, when you are going up the sloped hill (since you probably won't be jumping on the palms), remember that you can jump from that slope the next platform. (instead of jumping onto the raised area first)As for the return trip, either jump on the palms, (it will take practice), or just jump down and take that path. (you might need to do a jump attack to proceed at a spot)

The final tip would be to practice. And I probably just sent a confusing mess filled message.

Hey Tigerruss, thanks for the tips! Don't worry, I got your message loud and clear.  I'm definitely going to try this method, since it seems like an excellent strategy.

Well, my first time I lost, but immediately restarted the PS2 and refused to move on from that point in the game until I beat him. Gods, it must've taken me like 50 tries...
