did sora want to do this?

Recommended Posts

first of all i dont want any of you to just post "your thinking way to deep into this". i hate when people do that. you know how conflicted i can be and once again i am conflicted. what if sora didnt want to do this? he is aubiesly under more stress than the average person. i hate the hole "chosen one" thing. it states that destiny isnt it your hands. i like to think that it is. but then i remembered "the chosen wielder of the keyblade" thing. and then i started to think. what if sora didnt want all this presure? why does he deserve more presure than most people? why did the whole "chosen wielder" thing have to happen? i know i'm asking why the game happened and thats why im concerend. i'm afraid i might stop liking kh becouse of this. pls tell me your thoughts on this.

Well of course he has a lot more responsibility since he is a keyblade wielder.

Like aging, the older you get, the more responsiblity you aquire. But this also mean you deal with more stress.

As for Sora, I think he already knows his duties as a keynlade wielder and accepts it.

The chosen wielder of the keyblade means the keyblade picked the wielder.  It's ambiguous as to what goes into who gets picked, but the only explicitly stated factor is a strong heart.  I like to think a person's mental and emotional willingness for certain things also goes into it.  If Sora wasn't willing to handle the pressure, I don't think the keyblade would've chosen him.

I don't think Sora has a choice, never met anyone he really wants to go know why someone was chosen unless it was a plot device but who cares, they made him the 'chosen one"(well I could go into more detail but I'm not going to right now)for the plot,go along with it.Its all about the story man.Plus, actually Sora wasn't chosen by the keyblade and he said he just happy to be part of the bigger picture, the people it did choose.(type that while hearing sora shout it out from kh 3D xD)Which means Sora doesn't mind being under all the stress,he likes it.Masochist!

The keyblade knows Sora can do what he needs to do. That's why he was chosen. That and Sora had a stronger heart then Riku's when Riku gave into darkness so Riku's keyblade moved onto Sora.

His first goal was to find Kairi and Riku, during his journey he knew he had to do this to save Riku.

After Kh2 he knew, having a keyblade was a gift and he have to accept it's his duty to finish his task.

It is hard to explain what if he fidn't want the responsibility mainly because he never had a problem with it in any Kingdom Hearts game. And not sure if it's destiny because if Riku didn't surrender to darkness, sora wouldn't have the keyblade BUT the fact that he has Ven's heart he is capable of wielding one. So the fact that riku did surrender to darkness and sora happen to have the ability to wield it sounds like destiny to me.

if he wanted to, he could go to yen sid, and apologize and quit the keyblade gig, but that's selfish, sometimes you have to think of the greater good before yourself

I think you're making something out of nothing, not to do with looking to deep into it, but the fact that Sora is a cheerful optimistic and always joyful I don't think he would feel stressed, I believe he'd get joy out of it because he's helping people and helping people makes him feel good.  Sora is the chosen one but he knows he's got tons of friends on his side to help him and isn't going it alone.  Friends capable and profficent in battle as well, unlike us who's friends are probably passive or too drunk right now to slap a fly.  It seems like pressure to most of us, but let's be honest the characters in games are more than likely

  • More athletic than us - I doubt very many people could run for as many hours as we make Sora, could jump as high as Aqua, could be as strong as Terra, could swing a keyblade back and forth as fast as they do as often as they do without getting exhausted.  Heck a number of people are unable to just pull themselves up by the fingers when hanging off a cliff like Sora does.
  • More free than us (very few of us at 14 could just walk out of home be away for years and not get the police up our arse dragging us back)
  • Less home troubles than us i.e. why bother with a job, when I can grind money of those I attack
  • More fearless than us - Point of the game, you don't have to worry if you die playing, you restart, the character doesn't need fear and are more than often "Sure, let's do it" when faced with a life threatening situation than would result in the major of real humans deaths
  • More heroic than us - Most games normally have a hero in their story, thus for them to be considered a hero at the end they act heroic during
  • More selfless - Willingly risk everything without a second thought when real humans on earth would have to sit and think about those they'd be leaving behind if they risked doing something that would kill them

I think you're thinking of this situation as if you yourself as a human being, were in it, and it's completely different because we as humans have one chance, one life, one final game over with no restarts.  It would be soul crushing pressure in real life, but in video game logic, it's something the characters need to do, and are happy to do for everyone else.

Your thinking way too deep into this

Sora may not like the pressure a little, but for starters, he always wanted to go to other worlds. Sora also makes friends easily, and cares a lot about everyone he meets, so he wants to fight to protect all his friends. There's been no sign he doesn't like the things he do, and he faces everything he has to do as something he wants to really.

Sora never complained he had to do anything. At most he sighed when he was told his journey would be twice as difficult as his first, but who wouldn't complain?

It's just really hard to think someone as caring and altruist as Sora is doesn't like the role he has to play.

I'd like to think all Sora did was his choice cause at any moment he could have just given up especially when riku takes his keyblade.

Yea that's what I was thinking. And he didn't act like he didn't want to either.
