Comparing Pokemon Diamond/Pearl/Platinum to Naruto

Recommended Posts

NOTE: THESE ARE ALL COINCIDENCE. I'M NOT SAYING "POKEMON = NARUTO OMG", JUST POINTING THESE OUT. PLEASE DON'T TROLL ME FOR THIS.

Okay, I know, I'm going to get a LOT of hate for this. I still can't resist pointing this out. I started a new game in Platinum today, naming my characters Hinata and Naruto as jokes, and since I'm a huge Naruto fan. While playing, I noticed a LOT of similarities between Pokemon Gen IV and Naruto... So, let's begin, shall we?

1. The rival

The first similarity I've noticed is that the rival, Barry as we'll call him, is very similar to Naruto Uzumaki was in Part 1 of the series. Both have blonde hair, but aside from that, not much appearance-wise. However, their personalities are very similar. Both are hasty, overly-hyper guys. I might've just noticed since I named my rival Naruto, but still, kinda strange. I know it's a common thing in games/shows though, so I'm not counting it all that much. There are bigger things, though.

2. The town names

I know this is a coincidence, but I can't help but notice that the first two towns are named Twinleaf and Sandgem Town. Now, in Naruto, the first two villages shown in the series were the Hidden Leaf Village, and the Hidden Sand Village. Yeah, it's a coincidence, but still pretty ironic.

3. The evil team

Alright, this section contains spoilers for Naruto as well as Pokemon D/P/Pt.

Team Galactic, the main villains of Gen IV's games, are trying to create a new, perfect world in which they can live. In Naruto, the Akatsuki are trying to place a Genjutsu over the world in order to make it a more perfect place to live in. Both have similar goals, which interested me quite a bit.

4. Volkner

This is a pretty famous one among us Naruto fans. xD

Notice the similarities? xD

Once again, these are all coincidence, I just find it funny that there are so many similarities. There might be more that I don't know of (I'm not doing the Nine Tails and Ninetales thing, since that's not only a Japanese mythology thing, but also from Gen I) If I'm missing anything that anyone else notices, feel free to post it. xD

Just I wanna do it just for the heck of it.....Heck I think Naruto could've had a much easier time with a Pokeball made of Chakra

historically,Naruto came after Pokemon (the first season not Gen 4)

As for Naruto(MangaAnime) itself......I was a fan..a big..big fan ...until the series (Both manga and anime) went into complete and utter bullshit right after the fourth ninja war started.

I won't spoil the manga...but I can summarize it like this:BUUUUUUUUULLSHIT....WHAT HAPPENS IN THE CURRENT CHAPTERS IS ABSOLUTE WHORESHIT

xD Like I said in the thread, that's one I'd like to bring up to. A nine tailed fox is actually something in Japanese mythology though, so it's a really common thing in Japanese media. Naruto and Pokemon are most famous for using them, though. Kurama and Ninetales do have similar coloring, though... I wonder if that's a normal thing, too?

The very first time I saw Volkner almost a decade ago, I said the same thing.

Wait, has it really been that long since these games came out? Dang, time went by fast...
