The only thing they have been in together is House of Mouse, which many don't think as canon, so it makes since. Otherwise, no one knows for sure. I've only caught a few episodes of Goof Troop, but I saw A Goofy Movie and A Very Goofy Movie and I think there can be plenty to work with in regards to Max. Unfortunately, I've heard somewhere (I think) that Nomura is shying away from the animated series, and the Goof Troop movies aren't part of the Disney Animated Canon.
