Firaga 5,947 Posted August 2, 2013 You became a huge One Piece fan quickly. ._. I remember you showed this one to a few of us on Tinychat once, it's really great. I've seen some other works by friends of the guy that wrote this one (And he had a preview for an SAO fandub which was awesome, too). It's dedicated fans like these people that make it worth being in a fanbase! Also, this is kinda off topic, but the combination of "Little Tortilla Boy" and the picture you chose for Ace always makes me laugh for whatever reason. Yes. Yes I did. lol I'm just now getting into the Skypeia Arc with the English Dub. After that, I'll be watching the rest on Toonami, until they hit the filler arcs, in which I'll watch the canon episodes after that, then continue on until I hit the last of the English Dub and then start watching the rest in Japanese. Then once I'm caught up with the anime into the newest episodes, I'll start reading the manga... from where the anime leaves off. I'm sorry, but it's 700+ chapters, aint nobody got time for that. lol I just want to get updated, I'll read the rest when I can. lol Ikr? This guy is amazing! Yeah, me too. 1 Shulk reacted to this
Skai 3,961 Posted August 14, 2013 (edited) If you guys ask me, this treasure, One Piece, is probably something that will unite everyone, hence One Piece. I mean think about it, Gol D. Roger doesn't seem like your ole' run of the mill pirate. He's competent and in none of the flashbacks so far in the series do they make him out to be hostile. The Marines/Navy (depending on what sub/dub you watch) just took him out to be the strongest, number one, pirate there was and they wanted to set an example by getting him. I'm sure he let himself get caught to protect Portgas D. Rouge and Ace. Also Robin going around to read these poneglyphs. The clues are bountiful. Each one she reads just reaffirms this theory. Why else would it be called One Piece. Then we go to this D. What does D. mean? Destiny? Determination? It was to mean something, and we've seen only special people have it. D.'s are have power that no one else does and I think that relates back to my theory. If you're interested, here's a better reasoning for why I think One Piece is a sort of unification of the world. It has spoilers though. I think everyone will have to band together to defeat Blackbeard. He is probably going to be the "final boss" of the series and his crew is pretty damn strong. I'm sure in some way everyone will come to the conclusion that they have to team up for a common cause that threatens both pirates and marines/navy. Also Rayleigh. He seems like a nice enough guy. I feel like Gol D. Roger's crew was filled with intelligent, enlightened people who understood, Rayleigh is no different. I'd like to say that the sense of justice is so messed up in this world of One Piece that pirates are actually more justified and probably more right than the navy/marines. It's crazy, but I really do believe so. EDIT: Also the series are based on friendship, the feelings, NAKAMA. I strongly believe in this theory because of that. Luffy is a hero, even though he denies it and so are everyone else in his crew. He's come to question how society is and trust me, he and everyone else (Zoro, Usopp, Sanji, Nami, Chopper, Robin, Franky, Brooke, and future nakama) will be able to do it. This is what I love about series like these, Kingdom Hearts, One Piece, Naruto, etc, they're heart felt and they have underlying meanings under the action packed, jolly filled, fun-loving series. Anyways, I'm talking too much, hope I didn't waste your time! Ajexmi 446 Posted September 25, 2013 I've been watching for the past month or so. I'm on Episode 170 nearing the end of the Skypiea arc. I got into it cuz I was recommended it as a big fan of Fairy Tail. Love it! Watching the dub.... anyone know how many Funimation have dubbed so far? I think it's like 287, but anyone know for sure? Plus, how many episodes are there and are they still churning them out?

I'm not sure what episodes they've dubbed so far, but I do know that Funimation has a license to dub the show all the way to episode 336. That doesn't mean the dub ends there forever. It's possible Funimation will license episodes 337+, but no one knows for sure yet. Also, there's a total of 613 episodes, and it's still going. I know, it's a lot. Hope that helped. Also, does this mean when TOONAMI gets to that point in the series in a couple years, they'll stop airing it because its no longer dubbed? Since they said taht it doesnt work to air subbed animes. 1 Ajexmi reacted to this

Firaga 5,947 Posted October 22, 2013 Damnit.... I HATE IT when they change the voice actors..... but thanks for letting me know No, Ajexmi, don't listen to spiderfreak. He got confused. Funimation is NOT dropping OP after Season 5 is done. The season goes up to episode 336, and after that, Funimation will get the license to Season 6. Just like they've been doing for the past FIVE years. 1 Ajexmi reacted to this

Reyn 1,755 Posted February 1, 2014 I heard that around the 550 issue mark is when the author said that One Piece was halfway done. If thats true, then i think the authors gonna try to end it at about 1000 issues or so, which makes sense. Itll make OP the longest anime ever, thats for sure. 1 Ajexmi reacted to this
Firaga 5,947 Posted June 25, 2014 (edited) (Yay for reviving threads) Okay so I've been into One Piece for a while now: I started watching the anime early last year, I believe, and I'm currently watching it on Toonami; the coming Saturday is going to air Episode 260. I started reading the manga a little while from now; I'm currently in the Drum Island Arc, the arc where Chopper joins the Straw Hats. Now at this point I can say that I very much enjoy the series One Piece for its animation, its characters, its story, all that jazz. However, if I were go out and rant about some things that bug me about the series, two things come to mind: 1) In the Whiskey Peak Arc: the fight with Luffy and Zoro, in my opinion, was absolutely pointless. It didn't take me until I read it in the manga recently to realize it. Now, I'm not trying to say that I don't enjoy seeing Luffy and Zoro fight each other: they're both really strong, and they're two of my favorite Straw Hat Pirates; HOWEVER, I fail to see why we need to have Luffy, in this arc, get confused and basically alienate the idea of the Baroque Works agents setting them up and instead attacking his own crew member Zoro who killed them all mostly in self defense. I mean, not only does it just serve as padding, which happens a lot in the manga and anime already, even when its not trying to be padding, but it just makes Luffy all the more stupid and Zoro as well to an extent. Also, I can't believe that they pretty much ONE-SHOTTED the new BW agents Mr. 5 and Miss Valentine, who I can honestly say are my favorite BW pair. Seriously, they just brush them off like they were nothing and go back to arguing. I know that 5 and Valentine get more of a chance in Little Garden Arc, but in terms of establishing antagonists, that was just cruel, especially at a point where things are supposed to get a little more serious now that the crew is in the Grand Line. 2) In the Water Seven Arc: the argument that Usopp had with Luffy about the Merry which led into the fight with them and then led to Usopp leaving the crew. Now like I said, I'm going into Episode 260 in the anime and I've read that 264 is where the Enies Lobby Arc starts. Also, sadly, I couldn't have helped but spoil myself to pretty much everything else that goes on after this arc and going into the current arc of the manga. I can't help it, the internet won't shut up about it and I got overly curious. Plus I always research some things about an anime or manga I want to get into, so some of this information I already knew before-hand, as well as my exposure to One Piece before I was even into anime or manga at all and yadda yadda yadda. My point is that I know that Usopp is going to drop the Sniper King thing he's doing and join back with the crew. Also, the fact that the current opening in the anime and the one after it pretty much confirms that he and Robin are staying. Its just too obvious. Now that I've gotten all that said, here's my gripe with the argument: Usopp was WRONG. DEAD WRONG. I know that I'm not supposed to be supporting either Luffy or Usopp in this, but the fact of the matter was that Luffy was right and the Merry needed to go. He knew it, and everybody in the crew except long-nose himself knew it too, and yet they let that same long-nose scream and shout at the captain about how he was betraying them and how the Going Merry could still live when in fact we ALL knew, and I mean the fans knew too, that it was broken and needed to be replaced. Sanji didn't help but kicking Luffy in the face either. Again, I'm not trying to bash the character or anything, I like Usopp a lot, but dammit man, shut the hell up and listen to your captain when he gives you an order and know when you're wrong. Or else its gonna lead you to doing stupid shit like leaving the crew and making me and the fans sadface. Alright, I've said want I've wanted to say. I'm still enjoying this series alot regardless too, just to clarify. Edited March 10, 2016 by Firaga Sensei
neil98 313 Posted July 29, 2014 Who do you think luffy's new nakamas will be? My guess is that jinbe will soon join the crew after his mini story arc. Next are momonosuke and Kinemon will eventually be definitive crew members. From dressrossa, the only guesses I can make is that either violet or bartolomeo. Lastly I think law will accept joining the crew, and that crocodile, mr 2 and emporio ivankof will at one point retirn to the manga and join the crew. Same goes for Vivi. Please give your thoughts.
