1. Conviction of a crime, often leading to them being forced out of office.

2. Convicting an elected official of a crime.

3. I'm pretty sure the House of Reps brings up the charges and the Senate votes, but it's been awhile since my Gov class.

4. I know it's a short list, like two or three, but Nixon is the only name i can come up with.

5. Probably a shorter list, but still more than just Nixon.

 

thankfully i took a gov class recently, didn't help much, though.

thankfully i took a gov class recently, didn't help much, though.

Nixon was not impeached. He resigned.

 

Also I'm pretty sure that the only two presidents to be impeached (which is only an indictment of charges that would require leaving office btw) were both acquitted and not actually forced out of office.

4.) Violating any U.S law that has a heavy punishment. So I won't put speeding on the highway in this category, but I'd consider armed robbery or murder "high crimes or misdemeanor."=D
