FFXIII-2, Vallhalla

Recommended Posts

Something I don't quite understand about this place is that it is said that time not(edit, forgot the word, thanks to AntonioKHT for pointing it out) does exist in this place. It has no past nor any future. Could somebody please explain how this is possible? How can time not exist there? How can it not have a past or future? Is it that time doesn't move properly and nobody ages? But if that's the case then a past and a future can still exist! At the beginning of the game we see Caius laying Yuel's body in the ocean. Then has a battle with Lightning. Now after their battle, all that's in the past. So clearly a past exists, and a future can be created. So what do they mean when they say that time, a past and a future doesn't exist?

Sorry, i haven't played this game and I don't really know. But I think the first sentence has little mistake. 'Time does not exist in this place'. The word is missing

Guessing, I could say that, somehow, this place is kinda of halted in time. While there, nothing flows, and when you leave, you're in the exact moment you were when you got in. I haven't played the game, so I just thought about this with the things you told me

Well, Valhalla is pretty much the afterlife, so it makes sense it doesn't have a past or future. Its not the mortal world, its not of that material plane, its where the GODDESS ETRO LIVES. It has different rules then the mortal world.

When it says it has no past or future, it doesn't mean that nothing will happen to it later on, or nothing happened to it earlier, all it means is that anyone living in it will never age or truly die.

Consider it like a twisted timeline. It's kind of like what you do in the present doesn't have any impact on the past or the future. There's a part where Lightning says she fought Caius before. But as you saw, it didn't have an impact on the future. So I guess you can say there's a form of time, but it doesn't flow correctly.
