He technically 'died", but also has hidden his heart in Terra's and it's possible to bring him back I suppose especially considering the hidden data from Ansem the Wise. It just depends on what Nomura decides to do with his character in the long haul. We know he will have some role /effect in KH3 though. Exactly what is debateable. Im sure Eraqus will come back. I mean, if KH needs a death to add more depth and seriousness to the story, the best way to go about that would be having Aqua die.
