KH3D So Im planning to get birth by sleep but I was wondering if its a downgrade from kh 3d or anything

Recommended Posts

So is dream drop distance any better then birth by sleep? Not to start a flame war but I dont want to be like " WTF WHY IS TERRA SO SLOW"or something like that ._.

And keep in mind their's spirits and their special attacks and the awesome of flowmotion xD

Their battle systems are so different.  Gameplay wise, I wouldn't say one is better than the other because each of them are two different experiences.  Story wise, I still prefer BBS over KH3D, but both have good stories.  And as far as characters feeling slow, you're going to feel that with any KH game after playing KH3D xD

I'd say BBS is better. They did a better job of distinguishing the fighting styles of each playable character, (TAV all play very differently but Sora and Riku play more or less the same) there's more story to it and there's more content.

KH3D has a watered-down version of BbS's battle system, so BbS is better in that aspect. I've heard people so many times complaining about Terra being slow. Just constantly spam his dashing ability and you'll be a hell of a lot quicker. He's dashing ability is way faster than Ventus' dodge rolling ability.

well bbs has the same command system as 3d, but there are some attacks that in kh3d you can do in mid air or on the ground, but in bbs you are basically teleported to the ground if you use the command. This applies ot attacks like megaflare and ice barrage. It isnt really a problem but in kh3d i usually use those moves in mid air against enemies that normally attack on the ground so when i do the same in bbs i sometimes get hit by enemies cuz i forget i cant use the moves in mid air.

Well, even if Birth by Sleep was a downgraded version or Kh3D in terms of gameplay,it could still be enjoyable. They have different storylines to enjoy as well, but if you have a PS3 you should wait for Kingdom Hearts 2.5 remix

What about flowmotion and spirits? ._.

Flowmotion was a positive addition to the gameplay, the Spirits however were just okay. They either felt like those special limits from KH2 or the Command Styles from BbS. When they died you had to go and help them back to life or else they would be dead forever, which was pretty annoying compared to how things have been in other games.

It's all about your opinion.  Some people prefer DDD. Some prefer BBS.

Advantages of BBS over DDD for me:The areas aren't so vastly huge, least to me, more rooms, but less distance to cover to get to an exit.

No spirits, intriguing at first, trying to please them all and raise their infinity levels becomes really boring really quickly.

3 different characters stories a range of different abilities

A fully magic based character, which for me who prefers mages in all games, was good.

It's easier to meld commands than master all the spirit boards.

Shotlocks (though it can be abused)

Mirage Arena is better than Flick Rush

Advantages of DDD over BBS

You get to play as Riku and Sora, while it doesn't matter to me a lot of people would care about being those characters

You basically get a bunch of pets (though as I said they become boring quickly)

Flowmotion (though it can be abused)

3D effect if you care.

Both games can have disjointed stories, since the drop system is based on time and not progress you could end up doing something with Riku that could only have happened after Sora's actions which you haven't put into motion yet, and obviously with BBS you get a third of a story in each world playing one character at a time.

In terms of battlesystem/game play, leveling up and gaining new abilities BBS is my preferred of the two.  I personally don't think DDD is better.  Terra is slow, but Ven is fast, each character has their advantages whereas in DDD is basically was just a light and dark version of the same skills.  Actually Riku just reminded me of a dark version of Aqua with his commands and abilities basically being the same as hers.

Play BBS.

BBS was a very well built game, but the graphics arnt very good, the story sucks, and its really short. I had a lot of fun playing it though regardless of those problems(I actually spent most of my time on the command board, i really like that part for some reason)

Battle system vs game play is two different things. Personally I liked the battle system in BBS better, but I know many people will disagree with that. I liked the game play in DDD much better though. In terms of story, I would say they are about even. IMO, I really only liked Terra's story in BBS, some of Vens, and I felt like Aqua was a troll trying to get them two back home (will not reveal spoilers or anything). Also, BBS seemed really repetitive to me. But, in DDD it seemed like the story didnt really advance until the last world. And when you play in the World that Never Was, you are just overwhelmed with info like time travel. But in all I think that BBS and DDD are equal, but if I had to choose a better one I would go with DDD.

They are both pretty great. BBS gives a lot of back story & DDD gives a little new story. The gameplay is fun in both. In BBS you have to go to each world 3 times, at least. In 3D you go to each world twice, at least. It's hard to pick but I'd say BBS....no, just get Re:Coded, it's the best KH game ever....lol.

I would go for DDD. It is a story that you need to play. If it comes to PS3 I doubt if it will be playabe. The chances are actually low to be on PS3. BBS is great. But the time battle in Colosseum was very hard also that stupid disney minigame of Ven. I would wait.

I personally prefer BBS to DDD, since BBS has more options in what you can do in battle, and it makes the game more fun. DDD was more limited in that respect.
