Don't get me wrong, FFVII is one hell of a game, but I believe FFVIII for starters beat any legacy VII may have set. That challenge has already been accepted and superceded. Because they know that, no matter how amazing any future FF games are, they will never be able to cut through the glare of the VII fanboys nostalgia-colored glasses. I think XIII exceeds VII TBH. But yes, XV will most likely be the FF that exceeds or rivals VII. It has an amazing battle system, so far an amazing story, and looks like developed characters.
