SkullKid 15 Posted July 5, 2014 Actually, if I remember correctly, DISNEY is the one who own's Sora. Still a pain to get through just because they'd probably make just having him alone expensive, but I don't think they'd have to go through Square Enix. Still a pain to get through just because they'd probably make just having him alone expensive, but I don't think they'd have to go through Square Enix. The one who designed the character is Tetsuya Nomura so of course they won't use the character without him knowing, which is why I said Sakurai would need to talk to both Disney and Nomura Sora and the KH cast(the non disney non Final fantasy ones) are sort of a shared property between Disney and Nomura, otherwise Disney wouldn't have hesitated for a second to make a movie out of it or would've featured it's characters in something like Mickey's House of Mouse(back in the early 2000's anyway)
darkerturbo 168 Posted July 6, 2014 (edited) I really don't think any square enix character has any chance of getting in since square is really protective of everything they own Edited July 7, 2014 by darkerturbo

But from what I'm seeing here looks like the power of the side smash won't be that much as heshe's shooting multiple projectiles unlike say.....Megaman Sure it has longer range but I doubt it would deal that much damage 1 Reyn reacted to this

Reyn 1,755 Posted July 8, 2014 I've called it since her trailer but,Palutena is the new Meta Knight if you know what I mean Lol. Everyone's saying she's OP now, which is kinda true. Sakurai's trying to upscale the balance of power for every character so that they're all OP, meaning they're evenly matched and balanced technically. So, she'll technically be OP, but hopefully, still balanced among the roster.

Also, you missed the second picture: Now THAT has some range. Its the Heavenly Light Power from Uprising, but it only chips away at an enemies health, doesn't make them flinch though. I don't remember that being said in Sakurai's post. I mean, considering that most Up specials have some form of recovery, i thought this might be her Neutral Special, but ok. Shulk 8,623 Posted July 8, 2014 Needed to rant about this, but I'm pissed off about how Sakurai's handling Palutena. I actually really wanted her to be in, but he's playing favorites with her since he did Uprising and managed to make her the most OP character in Smash history, judging from these screenshots. Sakurai's one of my favorite game developers ever, I'm still incredibly excited about this game, and I really respect the guy, but it's really bothering me that he's picking favorites. So much for balancing the game...

I mean, look at Little Mac, he's not playing favs. with him and he's really OP. His only weakness is in the air, but if you can't knock him off screen then it'll be hard to take him out. Hell, even Bowser got a huge buff up too, he's alot faster and is still as monstrously strong as he was in Brawl. Not to mention Greninja is super fast and agile too. Its balancing out. I will admit that he is playing favs. a bit with Palutena, and she looks a bit more powerful than the rest of the roster, but i'm sure it's going to balance out in the end. I played the demo, no one really felt OP. Little Mac's KO Punch is really tough to hit with, and Greninja's fast and agile, but that doesn't really mean he's super OP or anything. Palutena's the only one who I can say looks OP so far. Judging from all those abilities we saw in her trailer, and these screenshots, there's really no way to deny that Sakurai's playing favorites. We won't really know until we play the game. Although, now that i look and see everything, all the moves in her trailer i think are going to be in her full moveset, not as custom moves. I mean, no one thought her up smash was gonna be an up smash, it'd seem more like a special than anything. And if all those moves are in her full moveset....Yeah, she'll probably be a little OP. But hey, we all thought LM and Greninja were gonna be OP, even Rosalina and Villager, and it turns out they aren't. I think they'll tweak Palutena enough so it'll be the same with her. Also, like i said, Sakurai is playing favorites a bit with Palutena though.

Reyn 1,755 Posted July 8, 2014 (edited) No one else has really looked OP so far, they all looked average to me. Palutena has all of these crazy moves, including this stupidly overpowered smash attack. She's really the only OP character so far. I don't know about that, alot of people thought all the newcomers were going to be OP before the demo was playable. Palutena does look OP, but we don't really know for sure until the game comes out. It's only speculation at this point. For all we know, all those moves may look OP, but they could do crap damage, or leave her with openings for people to take advantage of, or something like that. Plus, now that i look at all the moves in the trailer again, there's NO WAY she has all of those Special moves in her full moveset. There were 12, and you can only have 4 at a time, so she's not that OP. Plus looking on this page helped: http://www.ssbwiki.com/Palutena_%28SSB4%29 Here's her full moveset(when it comes to specials) if you really wanna see if she's OP or not: Heavenly Light - Palutena holds her staff up and projects a rectangular field of supernal light above her and to the sides. It deals damage in a large area without producing knockback or flinching. Explosive Flame - Palutena creates an explosion at what appears to be a fixed distance in front of her. Warp - Palutena disappears and then reappears elsewhere, similar to Dimensional Cape. (Up B) Rocket Jump - Palutena creates an explosion at her feet that boosts her upwards and damages nearby enemies. Reflect Barrier - Palutena casts a rectangular shield in front of her which knocks opponents away and reflects projectiles. Autoreticle - Palutena swings her staff and a reticle appears at where an enemy was when she swung her staff. Palutena then fires three very fast projectiles at where the reticle is, regardless of the enemy's position at that point. Its exact mechanics remain unclear. Jump Glide - Palutena jumps a fair distance up, and then is able to 'glide' similar to Peach's float, although she slowly loses altitude. (Up B) Counter - Palutena performs a basic counterattack with her staff, similar to that of the Fire Emblem characters. (Down B) Super Speed - Palutena performs a charging attack where she glides along the ground very quickly, and for a long distance. She can damage enemies by ramming her body into them. (Side B) Angelic Missile - Palutena shoots herself forward to attack with her own body, similar to Skull Bash and Green Missile. Celestial Firework - Palutena shoots a seemingly weak explosive projectile upwards. Lightweight - By some method, Palutena increases her speed to a degree that she can outrun even Sonic.(Side B) Black Hole and Mega Laser - Palutena seems to combine these two powers to form her final smash. She starts by sucking foes towards the center of the stage with Black Hole, putting them in a tumbling state, and then fires the Mega Laser into the Black Hole to deal damage, concluding with a final hit to knock the victims away as Black Hole dissipates. The only moves that she has that look OP TBH are: Her Up Smash, Reflect Barrier, Jump Glide, Explosive Flame, Lightweight(even tho that probably isn't that bad), And Blackhole/Mega Laser(even though that's probably her final smash). The rest aren't that bad TBH. I Mean, Celestial Fireworks, Autoreticle and Angelic Missile aren't really gonna be gamebreakers, Edited July 8, 2014 by spiderfreak1011
Shulk 8,623 Posted July 8, 2014 It's not exactly over powered. It's really small, but reaches up high. Exactly. It's at least easier to recover from something going to the side than something that you'd have to dodge in mid-air.
Reyn 1,755 Posted July 8, 2014 Exactly. It's at least easier to recover from something going to the side than something that you'd have to dodge in mid-air. Well, it goes straight up, you gotta be right next to her to actually get hit. Hell, if you're behind her and she uses it then it won't hit you, you gotta account for where she's facing too. Not to mention you can just roll to the side or spot dodge. And the fact that there are multiple air dodges in this game too.
Captain Arrowguns 466 Posted July 8, 2014 You guys are seriously jumping the gun about Palutina. Just because she sounds OP doesn't mean she is OP. At least play as her one time before you all start complaining. 3 Reyn, Hero of Winds and Dio Brando reacted to this
Hero of Winds 2,576 Posted July 8, 2014 Every character in the game is completely balanced out. Well...not exactly. It's the illusion given by how floaty everyone is in the game. Some characters are gonna hit harder than the others, but due to how floaty everyone is, it's gonna require lots of timing and pacing to actually take someone out. 1 Reyn reacted to this
