BURN The Ridleyfans! "Size doesnt matter" "Sakurai is scared to mak changes" "Olimar is terrible to that size" Olimar looks good in the size he's portrayed. And also Sakurai confirmed it. Reyn 1,755 Posted November 21, 2014 Well that's dumb. How is that dumb? Because he wanted to stay true the character and not have to change him drastically in order to put him in the game? 2 Marth and Shulk reacted to this

Its dumb because he already did that with Bowser, but all of a sudden Ridley is too much to ask.
Reyn 1,755 Posted November 21, 2014 (edited) Its dumb because he already did that with Bowser, but all of a sudden Ridley is too much to ask. Not really, Bowser's normal size in the games (Galaxy is a good example when he shrinks back to normal size after each world) isn't relatively much bigger than Mario, so Sakurai could easily represent him like that. Bowser isn't humongous size 24/7 you know. Even in the Paper Mario games he's still not too much bigger than Peach really. Well Height wise anyway. Ridley is a different case honestly. If people want Ridley, then give them Ridley. He's okay with putting weird characters like Wii Fit Trainer and Villager in his games, whats the matter with shrinking down Ridley? Marth 338 Posted November 21, 2014 (edited) Who cares? If people want Ridley, then give them Ridley. He's okay with putting weird characters like Wii Fit Trainer and Villager in his games, whats the matter with shrinking down Ridley? Ridley's size has been consistent in each installment of Metroid. Making him small all of a sudden would just be weird in itself. And changing how he works would lead to contradictions with the character. Sure there are some inconsistencies, but they can be overlooked to a degree. Ridley's wouldn't really help, in fact that would cause more problems if anything. Is it wrong for me wonder why Sakurai can't just come up with a way to make the character work despite his obvious OCD tendencies? ^ This. Plus, knowing some of the fanboys, alot of people would complain about "y isn't ridly the sme sze?" : No, they'd be glad because they are a Hell of a lot more people who want the guy in the game than few. Marth 338 Posted November 21, 2014 Again, so has Bowser, and yet nobody's complaining. No. Look at Bowser on Super Mario Bros. Now look at him in Super Mario 64, Galaxy etc. Then the RPGs. They aren't always the same. Bowser in Super Mario Bros. is nearly as tall as Mario, and in Smash 4, the two are almost very similar in size. Ridley is enormous in every single appearance he has been in. Making him the size of a Smash fighter would look just awkward beyond belief. 1 Reyn reacted to this

Look, if you shrink down the size of King Kong or Godzilla to that of a normal human, then yeah, they're not as big, but I guarantee they can still cause mass mayhem and destruction. Also, just to clarify, I'm not saying "Arg, the new Smash Bros. suck because it doesn't have Ridley in it!" or anything. The roster is fine and Ridley is a stage hazard, I'm okay with that. By this point, DLC is probably out of the question too. This is something that can come in the next game. All I'm saying is if that Sakurai can't deliver on this Ridley business because of his "vision", then find a way to make it work. He's made five games so far, counting the newest Smash being on 3DS and Wii U as two games, with tons of imagination and well constructive ideas into the mix. Why he can't bring it in himself to incorporate a cool character like Ridley into his games, despite his OCD and the changes or whatever, is beyond me. Sakurai just doesn't want to try, because if he did, he could make it work. Enough of this "vision' crap. He's brought in Game & Watch; he's brought in R.O.B.; he's brought in Wario; he's brought in the Pokemon Trainer; and recently, he's brought in Wii Fit Trainer, Villager, Pac Man, and the motherf*cking dog from Duck Hunt! What, I ask, is so hard about doing the same for Ridley? Edited November 21, 2014 by Firaga Sensei

Wario, Pokemon Trailer, and Mr. Game and Watch are different from Ridley. You can get them to fit in a game like this easily. A murderous, cold-hearted villain like Ridley would just be an awkward fit. 3 Omega Ness, Reyn and Marth reacted to this

A murderous, cold-hearted villain like Ridley would just be an awkward fit. Then make him a murderous, cold-hearted villain while at the same time shrinking him down. He doesn't have to be that small either, just make him small enough not to overshadow everybody by that much. Like around six or seven feet tall. Logic. OmegaForte 1,674 Posted November 21, 2014 (edited) I came back from Nintendo World about an hour ago. Exhausted due to standing in line for 7 hours+the cold weather, but I had fun talking with my friends and made new ones as well. The stuff I came back with: Posters, Groudon figurine, Torchic keychain, Smash Bros. pin, and amiibo strap were goodies given out for free or for buying. ^_^ Note: No, there was no tournament. We're all champions. Successful night, if I so say so myself.
