Sakurai asked for references to make the model for the Rayman Trophy. He expected a 2D drawing reference, but Ubisoft sent him a brand new 3D model, rendered just for this game. Just as he said himself, it's nice to see the efforts of other developers contribute to this game.

I dunno but I hope Rayman isn't the new character.....sure it'll make sense and I'll be kinda happy regardless but I want other characters over Rayman

I dun get how this is everyone's first thought with a trophy of him. There are plenty of games in Smash that only have representation through trophies.

I never expected Rayman to make an appearance in Smash bros,but now I'd be disappointed if he's not playable and he'd fit perfectly in the cast

I called it guys, we got Fire Emblem characters. Sakurai gave us not 3, but 5 FE characters (six if you count female Robin).  Oh! Captain Falcon made his debut as well.  I figured with all the hints pointing towards Chorus Men and Xenoblade, we'd see Chrom, but we also got Lucina and Robin.

Wooooooooooooooooow. The Gematsu leak was wrong, i didn't see that reveal coming. Chrom GOT LEFT OUT(Except as part of Robin's FS), CF IS CO NFIRMED AS A VETERAN(as if we didn't see that coming), and we got Lucina and Robin! Robin looks like he'll play alot different from the other FE characters, but Lucina kinda looks like a Marth clone, no offense.

Really? I don't know, i think he's just part of Robin's Smash. I mean, why else would they be doing a combination attack? That's not really something Smash characters can normally do....At least not something as coordinated as what was in the video. well, or he's an assist trophy.

 

I honestly wasn't expecting ROBIN tho, considerng how much of an Custom Avatar he was in Awakening.

And all the hopes of Xenobalde fans who were expecting Shulk were dashed. Sakurai probably pissed off so many of them just now. But, at least now we know the leak wasn't real.

Again, Chrom isn't advertised as a newcomer. I'm pretty sure it's only Robin and Lucina. I guess this officially means everyone can kiss the chances of Chrom and Roy as playable characters in Smash 4 good-bye. :

 

Also, Yay Captain Falcon! The F-Zero racer returns, which is cool. And now the only 64 veterans who haven't been announced are Jigglypuff....And Ness. Getting real tired of Sakurai ducking away from Mother. -__-

With these 3 chars. revealed, the current smash roster's total of announced/revealed characters to 37.(counting Mr. Game and Watch) We're still missing the other 2 64 veterans, and if you count Brawl Veterans/Melee Veterans returning, then we're still missing: Wario, Meta Knight, Snake(i kinda doubt he's coming back tho), Lucas, Ice Climbers, Ness, Jigglypuff, Falco, R.O.B.(i doubt he's returning too), Ganondorf and Wolf. I didn't mention Game and Watch cause he was announced along with Pac Man. He hasn't been put on the site tho. If you count all of those characters returning, that'd bring the total roster count to.....48. Plus, we're still getting more newcomers and there'll be a few unlockables/secret characters. I think the Smash roster will probably end up getting up to 50 total. Or more.
