barry2255 48 Posted June 5, 2013 Now don't get me wrong, I love the Resident Evil series and I've enjoyed all the games, but I wasn't to pleased with resident evil 5 and 6. To be honest the problem with them is that they really weren't scary, it didn't feel like survival horror. However resident evil 6 gets points from me mainly because they brought back zombies, something that wasn't in 5. Something else that bothers me is that they no longer have the fixed camera angle like in 1,2,3, Veronica, and zero. I had always thought that it made the games unique and brought a new experience for most horror games but they sadly got rid of it. But I think that mainly the problem with the new resident evil games is that they no longer incorporate the old elements the had in the older games. 1. They need to go back to your basic zombies and other monsters, which they did in 6 so I'm not complaining. 2. They need the bring back the horror! Remember the feeling of suspense you got as you opened a door in the Spencer estate, seeing the Licker on the ceiling in the Raccoon City Police Department, and getting the crap scared out of you when Nemesis would break through the window in the RPD and chase after you, something like this is what we want to see again. 3. Others may not care about this but I personally want them to switch back to the fixed camera angle, I just felt that it was something that made the game so...different from other survival horrors. Maybe Capcom will take the fans advice and bring back some old elements in Resident Evil 7. P.S. These photos are fake but I thought they looked pretty sweet. 1 WhiteCrow reacted to this
Britipinojeff 95 Posted June 5, 2013 what i sorta appreciated as a way to go back to how the old games were in RE6 was that they made ammo scarce and it didnt come out of enemies and the zombies came back. The problem with this tho is that they had the game still play like RE5 so having no ammo and the way that i play the game i normally ran out a lot and i just used my knife or stun gun or something. 1 barry2255 reacted to this
mikethegamer 53 Posted June 5, 2013 wait has that Re7 poster been confirmed as fake? Last I heard it was still unknown. And also the series has kinda backed itself up into a corner in terms of horror elements. The way the story is going is making it hard to keep the survival horror elements in. In the first few RE's only a few people were dealing with the outbreak and they had never had any kind of experience with it. From Re4 onwards, the main characters are more prepared to deal with bioterrorism incidents, i.e. Leon learns how to ninja kick infected villages, and Chris learns to beat the living snot out of evil boulders More experience means less scares. Remember that demo gameplay that was shown for Re6? Leon was going down a hallway and about 10-15 zombies started rushing some stairs to greet him. Leon simply uses one grenade and stops them all. Now in an OLD Re game that would've gone down differently. But since Leon was more prepared in Re6 it was nothing to him. As for the controls, the tank controls could almost be a result of how inexperienced the characters were in a zombie outbreak in the original games (that's kind of a stretch but still...). In later games they have a better idea of what they're up against and so they learn new skills to deal with other bioterrorism incidents. This would explain the change of controls. Of course if you don't want to go along with this idea then you just need to know that Capcom will probably never bring back the tank controls. Although Re4 and Re5 did have tank controls to a certain degree, there were just no fixed camera angles. Re6 on the other hand....Anyways, I'm also hoping Re7 has at least more focus on the horror than the action. 1 barry2255 reacted to this
