SoraBlade 832 Posted May 26, 2013 SORABLADE REVIEWS: DONKEY KONG COUNTRY 2: DIDDY'S KONG QUEST! Ah. Donkey Kong Country 2; mostly called by fans Diddy's Conquest, Kong Quest, or just Diddy's Quest, some times just DKC2. This was/is a great game. The graphics were perfect, the levels and worlds were awesome, the music was awesomely perfect. Plot-line In the original SNES version, the game just literally drops you into the world-map with no plot. However, in the GBA remake, the game had some extended story, other than just the obvious story only at the end of the original. DK (Donkey Kong) is relaxing on the beach, after K. Rool's defeat in the first game. All of a sudden, the Kremlings arrive in an air ship, and attack Donkey Kong, and then donky-napping him! This seems like the average heroism monkey's tail, but it's not just the same tale of the hero. Diddy is accompanied by Dixie Kong, his previously thought to be sister, but it turned out, she was Diddy's G-friend. They set off, starting on K. Roole's ship. The Difficulty At first, this seems to be your easy kid game, but eventually, or very quickly, might I say, it turns into a sharp, poisonous, boiling hot, instant death crushing, bottomless pit of pain in the Crocodile Cauldron from HELL! The game steps up it's game (Heh) in the third level. Here, you can actually screw up VERY easily at some jumps. The first boss, was WAY smarter than the dunce Very Gnawty. You must be patient, as the boss is Krow, a giant Mini-Necky. Seems easy? No. For the first boss, this was quite challenging. First, he'll grab an egg, and you need to quickly bounce on it, grab it, and chuck it at him before he hits you. After doing that twice, he flies into the nest (Aptly, the level is named Krow's Nest) and gets confused. This will caused Eggs to bounce out of the nest on their own. While he's flying around his nest, hit him two more times and he's FINALLY finished. All bosses are difficult, but not impossible. Watch a let's play, or walk-through, to understand how much pain some people went. WATCH THE WHOLE THING to actually have an opinion on if it's really hard. The Levels The Levels are hard too. The whole game is hard. It's NOT an easy game. The levels are cool, though. Unlike the First, this game had pseudo-water levels. There were times where the water would rise, allowing land and water action, and parts where you had to freeze or cool the water down with Clapper, an Unridable Animal Buddy. There were carnival levels, hive levels, boat levels, top-sail levels, swamp levels, volcano levels, and the dreaded, hardest levels in the game, Bramble Levels. There were many more types of levels too. The one thing not back from the first game, are the cavern levels. At least, I can't remember any. Over-all? This game is great. See if you can get it at Game N Trade, or at a friend's house. JUST F**king get the game! A little hint, at one point you may notice that when you screw up, you feel like it was YOUR fault, and your body is mad at you. Your body knows that the game is just hard. Weird, I remember this part being in the SNES version and it's the only version I've played. I definitely agree on the difficulty. My first playthrough as a kid took me years. Now with practice it's still difficult with some parts but still amazing. And I really like the diversity of the worlds in the game and even the Lost World that can be unlocked. Overall, great review!
protoave14 21 Posted May 26, 2013 I played and loved the first one, but never got around to play Diddy's Kong Quest. I really should play it one of these days. 1 SoraBlade reacted to this
