advfox 698 Posted May 17, 2013 I'm curious-- have any of your game consoles broken down before? In the past, I've only had a PS2 break down, and even that lasted almost twelve years. What about you?

Rob 5,571 Posted May 17, 2013 (edited) Original PS3. Bought it Christmas 2007. Stopped working Summer 2010. Had to get it refurbished by Sony, then it broke down again in January of 2011. I just bought a Slim after that. Note: All my other consoles still work. Edited May 17, 2013 by Rob
Javelin434 3,164 Posted May 17, 2013 (edited) My xbox went kaplooie a while back. Dunno why but apparently Xbox discs are now recognized as bagels and dvds are music CDs. My Xbox 360 is about to give out too with laser reading problems. Hopefully we can use it a little while longer before it too decides that all Xbox 360 discs are now bagels... *Reading disc**this system recommends creamy blue cheese with your information bagel. Would you like the xbox to apply some now?* *Hits No* Now my PS2 slim. I take care of that thing like there was no tomorrow. No direct sunlight whatsoever, temperature controlled environment not to exceed 80 degrees fahrenheit, dust it every week if need be. And don't get me started with the memory card.... Caity 3,946 Posted May 17, 2013 (edited) My first PS2 was one my father gave me and my sister before he moved. As such it stayed in the living room a lot. With cousins over and people not looking for the firetrucking wires a lot of people caught the controller wire while playing dragging it across the room. As such that PS2 needs the wire bent in a certain way wrapped round the console to be anywhere near playable, doesn't play DVDs anymore and shorts out randomly (really annoying when playing KH2 on it). Luckily though my boyfriend at the time got me a new one since it bothered me so much and as it's mine (as with all my other home consoles) it stays in my room so people don't firetruck it up. EDIT: One time I went to visit my ex boyfriend in England for a holiday, the day I arrived he went to put on his Xbox (which he hadn't used before, it was the new limited edition RTD2 one) and it RROD. Was so funny, I arrive and things break (it's okay, he just bought a new one the day after). Edited May 17, 2013 by Caity Raindrop

Isamu Kuno 2,512 Posted May 17, 2013 (edited) I'm curious-- have any of your game consoles broken down before? In the past, I've only had a PS2 break down, and even that lasted almost twelve years. What about you? I only consider it "breaking down" if it's sudden and unexpected. Most game consoles have a gradual loss of functions until they cease working all together, like a human body, so it's not really breaking down. Remember when PS games had different colors of disks? You know silver, blue and black? i had to replace my PS2 because it stopped being able to read blue PS disks but could still read silver and black disks, PS2 game disks CDs and DVD but I knew it wouldn't be too long till those functions went too. So in other words, sort of. Edited May 17, 2013 by Sora_Kuno

Weedanort 8,786 Posted May 17, 2013 I found my old GBC some years ago, and I forgot that the batteries were inside. The batteries were full of some brown liquid, and it never worked again But I still have it to remember the good times
RoxSox 3,593 Posted May 17, 2013 The only dead system I have is my original PS1, that was owned by someone before me, and dropped several times by a cat. And even then, it still kind of functions... you just have to hold the disc tray down with something and pray the laser works.
