If anything, Kairi would replace Lea and Lea would focus on getting Roxas and Xion back opposed to defeating Xehanort. And my Yen Sid guess was just for the heck of it. That would lead Terra into becoming one of the lights. And yes I think Xion may be gone for ever and Sora needs to make Roxas complete, but I think Lea will play a major role in this because he made that promise in Days about always bringing them back.
